Moshe was the greatest leader of our people—and yet, the humblest of all men. In fact, the first word of the book of Vayikra (Leviticus) is written with a small Alef, symbolizing Moshe’s humility. Though he was chosen by G-d and led an entire nation, he never saw himself as above others. In our lives, self-confidence helps us stay focused and fulfill our mission. But when self-esteem turns into ego, it becomes a barrier. Be like Moshe: Know your greatness—but always stay humble.
