This week, we begin the second book of the Torah with Parashat Shemot, which our sages—among them Nachmanides—call Sefer HaGeula, the Book of Redemption Although the actual Exodus from Egypt takes place only later, the Torah teaches us that the exile itself was already part of the redemption, preparing the Jewish people to receive the Torah, build the Mishkan, and ultimately enter the Promised Land.
