hello my friends I hope this message
finds you well earlier this week you may
have noticed that I sent out a tweet or
an Instagram story talking about how I
had had a very frightening travel
experience and that I was just thankful
to be alive and never going to take a
minute for granted
again and immediately messages started
pouring in from all over and people were
asking if I was okay what had happened
so in order to try and
get away from rumors and speculation I
put out a short video about 1 minute
long where I explained that I had not
been threatened I wasn't in legal
trouble but I had had the most
frightening moment of my life I've been
traveling the world for 10 years now and
the scariest thing happened to me this
week
so unfortunately my video message did
not have the intended results and
instead of people focusing on what the
message was about which was gratitude
and never taking a moment for granted um
it basically turned into everyone trying
to figure out what had happened to me
which is understandable and therefore I
I do believe you guys deserve to know so
I'm going to share everything with you I
just want to share with you a little bit
of background for context um I've been
traveling the world solo for 10 years
I've gone to many interesting and
fascinating places met many amazing
people and for the most part I'm
traveling on my own I do enjoy traveling
with my wife and children sometimes I
travel with friends but the majority of
the time I'm traveling on my own um
works out kind of well I can run on my
own schedule I can plan things the way I
want to plan trips and not have to worry
about what anyone else is going to do
I'm able to create content and find
amazing stories at the farthest corners
of the globe because of traveling so
late and so far it's been working great
for me I've never had an issue traveling
solo and there was almost never a time
when I was traveling alone and I felt
like I wish I wasn't alone I wish I had
someone with me because I'm I'm
perfectly comfortable in my own skin and
I'm happy to spend time on my own even
if it's sometimes it could be 3 days on
my own 4 days a week whatever it is I'm
happy doing it for those of you who
follow my work you already know that the
content that I create and the content
that I intend to create is always
focused on lifting people up and
bringing people together I don't create
content that is divisive and I'm always
trying to be positive and optimistic
about the future and about the world and
about the people I meet and I've had
some really incredible experiences which
you will know about if you've seen any
of my other
videos however there are some people in
this world who are not focused on
uniting and they're not focused on
optimism and they are filled with hate
and I sometimes to get threats from
these people so on a regular basis I'm
getting nasty messages a lot of them
come from the Middle East from people
who don't like what I do I sometimes get
threats people will send me a message
like if you ever step foot of my country
I'm going to ruin your life or whatever
I don't want to go into it I try not to
give these people any attention I don't
respond to them I don't really take them
seriously however because I do get these
threats if I'm in a country where I have
even the slightest
worry about safety or security I will
not post publicly that I am in that
country so once I leave the country then
I'll start posting my content and uh
letting people know that I was there
which is why when I posted that tweet
and then the video later the same day I
was not able to tell you where I was
because I was worried about my safety so
here is the story that occurred this
week in its
entirety earlier this week I was working
on a project and I found myself in Egypt
I was in the City of
Cairo and I've gotten my fair sheare of
threats from people in Egypt so I
figured I'm not going to make this
public until I'm out of the country
which is why I'm talking about it now
anyhow I'm in the city of Cairo which is
right near Giza and Giza is home to the
Great Pyramids which I'm sure you all
know of the famous natural wonders of
the world so I took an Uber over there I
bought a ticket to enter the site I
hired a guide and a camel and I'm riding
around on a camel the guide is leading
me and we're checking out the area it
was a very very very hot day so we got
close to one of the pyramids called the
kafra or kufra pyramid I'm not sure
exactly how you pronounce it it was
towards the end of the day my guide was
very tired and he asked me if I wanted
to go inside the pyramid so I figured
yeah why not I said is there anything to
see in there he's like not really but if
you're here already you should probably
go in so I'm like okay so he said I'm
very tired I'm staying outside you go in
and I'll be waiting for you I approached
the pyramid I believe there are two
entrances I went to one of the entrances
which was for me it was on the right
side so I go to that entrance and
there's an Egyptian police officer
standing in a booth not far away and he
said we're about to close like everyone
has left already so run in there make it
fast and come out I said okay no problem
as I'm approaching the pyramid I see a
whole large group of tourists come out
so now I'm entering the pyramid so you
go down a couple of stairs until you're
a little bit below ground level and then
it kind of turns into a crawl space it's
like a ramp going down but it's carved
through the rock it's maybe 3 ft wide
and 3 and 1/2 or 4 ft tall I'm not sure
exactly about the dimensions but this is
what the way I remember it
and it's kind of claustrophobic and you
have to bend over almost as if you're
crawling but there's railings on the
sides you can hold on to the railings
but you're totally bent over and it goes
deep down I'm not sure how many stories
but it's probably four five or six
stories down and it's quite Steep and
it's just carved out of rock so because
it's so steep if you would be going down
you just slide right in so I guess
whoever runs the site put these metal
bars going across the ramp so every 12
in or so you can like put your foot down
and kind of stop yourself from sliding
in so you got to take these steps very
carefully and about 10 ft in I was
thinking to myself boy this is like
really uncomfortable because also not
only you because you're because you're
bending over you kind of
like don't have great balance and
because of
the the angle it's just you feel like
you're going to fall and it it was very
uncomfortable and I I remember thinking
to myself like this is a mistake I
shouldn't do this but I figured you know
I'm here anyway let me go down there so
I continue going down and I'm taking
pictures and I think I took some video
too and then eventually after like 3 or
4 minutes minutes I get to the
bottom and as soon as I got to the
bottom I noticed that I could stand up
because the space at the bottom was like
carved out and there was plenty of room
to stand so I stood up and as soon as I
stood up my head started feeling like it
was made out of lead I got dizzy and
nauseous and I started feeling like my
head was spinning and I was basically
losing Consciousness I realized that I
was about to pass out and there was
nobody around
there's no phone reception I'm deep
under a pyramid they're about to close
and I'm literally holding on to the
walls for dear
life I realized that in order to save
energy that I had I would have to like
sit down so so I just kind of like
lowered myself to the ground and I'm
sitting there trying to hold on to my
Consciousness and I started realizing
that I am about to collapse here under
the pyramids nobody knows I'm here I'm
not sure if anyone is still going to
come down before they close and even if
somebody does come down and they do find
me how are they going to get me out I'm
a pretty big dude so and then to further
compound that it's like even in New York
City if you call an ambulance you can
wait easily 12 15 20
minutes until First Responders arrive
thank God in the Orthodox Jewish
Community we have an organization called
hatala which they arrive in minutes or
in seconds but I was in Egypt I had no
access to any of these services and I
started
to I thought I thought that was the end
I thought I was going to lose my life
right
there and it was very weird because in
my head there were two things going on
the first thought process was like kind
of calming it was like wow this is this
is how this is how it ends and then the
the other side of my brain was like
who's going to tell my family what's
going to happen I'm not sure if I had my
ID on me but I wasn't sure if they'd
like be able to figure out who I was or
where I came from
and all the while as this is going on
I'm feeling sicker and sicker and sicker
and I'm holding on to Consciousness by a
thread and and I was trying to like I'm
trying to stay awake I'm trying not to
give in to the pressure but I literally
was like it was like impossible
throughout all my travels I've had some
pretty crazy
experiences some things that happened in
Afghanistan and some things that
happened in Lebanon and in Iraq I was
detained by the Army I met former
members of Isis in all those
moments there was there certainly was
fear at times but in the back of my
mind I always thought maybe I'll have a
backup plan I'll figure out you know a
way to get out of a situation I can call
someone
in this situation it was totally
different cuz I was completely alone and
I felt
like I was losing control in all other
situations I was able to control my body
even if I wasn't able to control the
circumstances around me I was able to
control my body over here it felt like
my life was slipping away
and it was the scariest moment of my
life
um it's also interesting cuz at that
point I I was just like really
regretting that having gone to Egypt and
having gone into the pyramid I was
thinking like this whole thing wasn't
worth it and look what's going to happen
to me now and I was also regretting
traveling solo at that point I was like
wow I really wish I wish I had someone
here with me with my last bits of
strength I started to call out for help
and thank God two tourists came down the
passage they were actually from the
Netherlands and I asked them to call for
an ambulance call for help and they
asked me what was going on I told them
that I was passing out and they just
asked me to try to stay calm and relaxed
um I had water with me I didn't even
think to drink it they they made me
drink some
water and they're like don't worry we're
going to stay with you as as long as you
know as long as you need us and then
someone emerged from deep inside the
pyramid so there's a chamber inside
where the Pharaoh was buried so somebody
emerged from the chamber and he started
walking towards the exit which he would
have to pass me and he saw me laying on
the ground
and he asked me what was going on those
two Dutch tourists who were there with
me explained that I was passing out and
they wanted to pour water on me and this
guy said do not pour water it's going to
make everything much worse he said also
that he's uh he was in the military for
17 years or something so he's like I
know what I'm talking about anyhow these
people stayed with me for a little bit
until I started to regain my strength a
little bit once I started getting back
to myself I was like like wasn't sure if
I should stay inside or go back out
because I didn't want to go through that
crawl space again at the same time I
knew there's no other way of getting out
number one number two inside the pyramid
it was like kind of cool it was much
cooler than on the outside baking Under
the Sun and I just needed that cool ear
so I stayed in the pyramid for I'm not
sure if it was 20 minutes or a half hour
eventually the I told the Dutch tourists
that I was okay and that they can
leave and I just sat there catching my
breath getting back to my myself
drinking water eventually I got out
through the same crawl space when I got
out of the pyramid back into the sun I
was dizzy again but it wasn't anything
close to what happened before and I just
sat down in the booth with that police
officer and I had some more water
eventually I got back on my camel and
more or less went on with my day this
whole experience really shook me up and
it made me realize that um perhaps I
need to take better care of myself so
often when I'm traveling I don't sleep
properly I'll get 3 or 4 hours of sleep
at night and I won't eat properly like
the adrenaline of traveling makes you
forget about taking care of yourself
sometimes but that's important too maybe
I wasn't drinking enough I don't know
what caused this I also spoke to some
medical professionals they mentioned
that perhaps bending over in that
position while going through the
passageway for four or 5 minutes it
doesn't take four or 5 minutes to go
down but I was just you know filming and
doing my thing so I spent probably too
much time in there and then when when I
stood up um straight
away like the change in blood
circulation I've been told that that
could have caused it so I'm not sure
what it was and I'm definitely going to
go have myself checked out just to make
sure everything's okay but this is
pretty much what happened to me I've uh
thank God I'm home now and I am resting
I'm taking it easy and I'm really
appreciative for every moment that I
have and
that's the story that's where it is if
you've never been to the pyramids you
might not understand the severity you
might not understand how small this
crawl space is and if you've never been
to Egypt you might not understand how
chaotic things can get over there so I'm
really thankful that it was just a
medical scare and not a serious issue
because God forbid had I passed out this
whole thing could have ended very very
differently and I'm honestly not sure
I'd be making the video right now so I'm
very thankful to be here to be alive and
to have I'm thankful to have had this
experience because I now appreciate
everything so much more I'm rethinking a
lot of things
um maybe next time I'll travel with
other people we'll see but thank you all
for watching thank you for your love and
support thank you for your kind messages
I've been overwhelmed by messages from
all over the world from people on every
platform that I'm on people have been
calling my family members my my wife has
been getting calls my in-laws have been
getting calls my my friends have been
getting calls my employers have been
getting calls from people who are
concerned so I appreciate all the
concern thank God I totally fine and
once again this was not a position that
I wasn't like I put myself in a
dangerous situation and something bad
happened I think this could have
happened to anyone um so that's that
thank you for listening and for hearing
me out and I hope to see you guys soon
