Torah Minute by Rabbi Bakshi: G-d lends us life — Use It wisely!

This week’s Torah portion, Parashat Mishpatim, comes right after the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and contains many detailed laws. One of them is the mitzvah of lending money to another person: “When you lend money to My people…” This mitzvah is more than financial help. It’s about supporting someone before they fall, preserving their dignity, and helping them stand strong—rather than waiting until they become needy and dependent on charity. On a deeper level, this teaches us something about life itself. Hashem gives each of us our years in this world, like a loan—time to fill with kindness, mitzvot, Torah, and prayer.
