Torah Minute by Rabbi Bakshi: Finding Light in the Darkness
This week we begin a new with Parashat Bereshit — the story of creation. The Torah describes how Hashem created the world in six days. On the very first day, He created both light and darkness — not just light alone. As the verse says: “Vayikra Elokim la’or yom, vela’choshech kara layla” — “And G-D called the light day, and the darkness He called night.” Both light and darkness are creations of Hashem, each with purpose and meaning. We might think only light represents goodness and that darkness is simply the absence of it — but the Torah teaches otherwise. Hashem intentionally created darkness to remind us that even challenges, pain, or confusion have divine purpose. When we face “dark” moments in life, we must remember: darkness itself is also part of creation — an opportunity to uncover hidden sparks of holiness. By revealing the good within the darkness, we don’t just restore light; we create a greater, deeper light. We always find the light in every shadow. #TorahMinute #Parsha #Hashem #Chabad #JewishWoodbridge #Shabbat #RabbiBakshi #Light #Darkness #creation #genesis
