How can you command someone to love? Love usually comes naturally—or it doesn’t. Yet in this week’s Parsha, Va’etchanan, we’re told: “Love Hashem with all your heart, soul, and might.” How? The verse right before gives the answer: Shema Yisrael… Hashem Echad. When we meditate and reflect that Hashem is the only true existence, love begins to awaken within us.
