um we're going to wrap up the remarks by giving awards to a couple of people uh we have categories what we call first of all the senior asking people are activists but for many years already senior we have aspen and government meaning someone who is in government but does work beyond what is required there are independent asconum there are schoolnet media people who have big reach in the high machine media and beyond and they put it to use so we'll go through the names the people who come up number one with all the respect we wouldn't have time for remarks because we have nine people and if everyone speaks two minutes it's going to be another half hour one of the things that are important in us which is activism which is trying to make a difference is to get the support and the guidance of the senior ascona senior respondent i won't call them the previous generation they are with us it's not the previous but the older generation um you know some of the known names would be that honduras people can get them [Applause] and of course we have josh snowman sitting there on the side from the fjcc but yeah but there's one there's one specific person who i want to point out not because he's a poor value than anyone else it's just we can't give awards to everyone but this is a person who i call a senior asking who has done a lot of work over the last 10 years to uh slightly around and his name is aboard [Applause] let me put it to you maybe i need to remove the logo because it's a non-profit is a radical lefty but he's a good jew and he has a lot of patience like an outsider that's dealing with a rowdy hits with the guy and he would call me a couple times a year he still does i'll see i want to explain to you something i'm not sure if yeah i appreciate your work but still but anyway we also the people in the room are laughing and smiling because they know the role that you have which is to give your opinion and move on but is something that jodie feldman is going to learn too it can be a liberal but nothing special that we also please come up for helping in the battle against bigotry for championing civil rights and civil liberties today we put in the liberal land the devices one of the people who said he will attend and i'm not sure he's there i can see him here couldn't make it probably which is going to be his loss he he is he is just i wanna like just arrive [Applause] is a person who is a documentarian a journalist who understands and knows that first and foremost is a high-energy and he has a unique ability and capability and an opportunity to showcase to those who want to know more about the orthodox community the full picture and now through the lens from a couple of hacks in the new york times or in other publications i have nothing against the new york times it's just a good example so you're just around you're probably hungry uh when we say we start an event on time we mean it um so i greatly appreciate the work that you do as a documentarian as a journalist to showcase to the highness of the world and to showcase the orthodox community to the world if you can come up here and take your reward no remarks are journalism the role that journalism plays oh by the way castle bennett from the fjcc i'm not i'm not giving you an award you're not so cautious as you think you are you're important about watching good recommendation that the entrance fee to these events should be that whoever has twitter should start following each other so take out your phones and start following and the point is that social media is very active it's it's it's important where you can get facts out statistics out and and call people out but in general the hamish uh journalist world it plays an important role in staking god for our rights and liberties and for presenting to the world a fair um a fair picture and there's one person who he has i don't know a grenade in his pocket i think every day he goes to the lane he picks up another grenade and he throws it out there and he's going to hit you for this he lives in lakewood he writes in the forward newsweek time whatever i don't know his name is ellie steinberg the biggest proof that i have at all steinberg is hitting the right notes is the amount of hate that he's getting when i had an article and there is no pushback i'm like what did i do wrong ellie every day sends his tweet like okay here we go three two one boom and the hell breaks loose so he takes the arrows and ellie probably thinks one of me and i'm not so classy yeah yeah yeah you're polished but you like to touch topics that nobody likes to touch and that's important because we can't leave the conversation for people who uh you know i don't mind the different views but when they and these twisting of facts lead to bad government policies that's bad news so ellie do me a favor please come up presents the 2021 ask in the media award to ellie steinberg for helping in the battle against bigotry and for chanting civil rights and civil liberties [Applause] one of the lines that i keep on getting from the young generation donors and let's play open kaze for a minute we gotta show these older guys at the time you know the new generation and i keep the time that we don't show anything to anyone it's just the mathias that generations move people become older and tired and they can't do everything and they need new energy and the role that these organizations these older organizations these senior organizations play in their own right as to advocating for the highness oil and especially for giving guidance and physics to the work that we do here is is amazing and i think their work is only appreciated um take for example [Music] an organization whose primary work his primary work is to custody he'll call his son i'm gonna stop someone so you're gonna [Music] is to advocate for the toilet community for the religious community which means that by design they need to have working relationships with all levels of government that's not our priority you have working relationships with other numbers and act and deal with it so last year when a guinness israel decided to join the lawsuit against governor cuomo to open the shoes the open schools it was a watershed moment start of the loss here we go here we go started the loss it was a monumental moment in the history of this organization that always tried to work through stadlunas and has and the names of the people who run this organization as well known as we mentioned before translucent people [Music] i remember back in 2010 when i was 25 i brought to him in a certain issue he said all right come over here let's have a meeting i reached out to rabbani he came to the broadway offices and two seniors won them gave him to the throttle to things who thought that he can fix things but there's a specific person in this organization that has more energy than a human being is allowed to have so a person in this organization who i don't know why you think that he needs to post on linkedin every day but his name is avishna avish now is youngsters and the current generation to get up every day in the boston lincoln but to get up every day and to push and to fight and to advocate and to make a difference and to call and to reach out abby you are to me a personal physic in a way beyond that you can know and i want you please to come up here and take the award it will be great presents the 2021 organizational aspen award to abish now for helping you in the battle against bigotry and for championing civil rights and civil liberties speaking about organizations i would like to uh mention another person who is very active in organization which is not in this area of work that we do in terms of public policy and the festival again there he goes it has been a few minutes by the way if you think that from look at others suffered from me have issues with the hustle we go back a long time um there's someone who runs an organization that's not involved in policy and politics but every step of the way he uses his organization to make a kiddish hashem to show what it means to have a highness that at first people are human beings jewish enough doesn't matter orthodox or not doesn't matter and at every opportunity that he has to go out there and participate and use the platform that he has through his organization and to use it for the benefit and the well-being of the orthodox community he's out there and he does it and his name is alexandre lacazette alexander is the sound of which as mentioned before as a radical lefty okay i don't want to dig it in it's good but kitty aside the brand that alexander got them organization that helps people of all backgrounds it's an organization that gives him a lot of access to reporters and journalists and time and again he uses the access not to make sure that he has another grant because maybe it can help it uses this access and this platform to showcase the beauty of the orthodox community in alexander and if you can't please come up and accept the word ojac presents the 2021 organizational aspen award to alexander rappaport this is alexander rappaport for helping in the battle against bigotry and for championing civil rights and civil liberties another another category [Music] of people that deserve extra recognition is the highest leader that are involved in government whether in elected office whether senior staffers in office a person can decide to run for office and try to get a small check and maybe a little bit benefits and have a nice day but cannot ever handle electing people that i know i'm not going to run through the list because i don't remember in my heart mama she that i do helps people beyond the typical expected constituent services um it doesn't mean that every personal issue that someone has they can take care of of their people who go beyond what is needed and especially in using their platform um to advocate for orthodox jews in terms of pushing back against the lies and the hate whether it is people and uh next to kj the blooming's blue and bird will grow whatever profused at this point but i need to pretend that i remember but i don't whether it's in the village of smith valley whether it's in uh chestnut ridge whether it's in the county legislator like anna reader i want to say something about aaron and i'm not giving you the award so take it easy but i want to say an important point ironic upstart organization is very very difficult and i'm sure that the senior school will tell me you think it gets easy after 20 years year yes he has our service but it's certainly difficult when you start out something low and bencin uses his platform and his relevance and a personal leveled to me to give me the extra physic he used to tell me for quite some time you'll see the shoulder is around the corner and you'll figure it out i'm still waiting for the chest but anyway but he was a uh he was it is a republican physique he also uses his platform as a county legislator hierarchy to speak about hatred and and i i'm grateful for that but down but down to brooklyn town improvement things are not so sweet and easy as they used to be a couple of years ago adam i think you're going to like this moisture deal with adidas a couple years ago a lot of uh brooklyn would tell us why don't you guys arrive and figure out you know the issues there and sadly the wave of intolerance kept on moving down to brooklyn and a lot of people woke up that it's a challenge everywhere one such person is called carmen yeager carmen has the opportunity and had the opportunity every day that he's a council member to just go for some constituent services but every opportunity that he has to speak out against hate and haters he does it as a proud jew and this gives us physique this gives us a lot of physic and uh i would appreciate if you can come up here and accept the lord [Applause] aspen and government award to carman city council members i'm not a liberal council member conservatives for helping in the battle against civil rights and civil liberties [Applause] another few names and then we could go back to and not eat it because i figured out we ran out of food and when somebody's getting into zach zak wants to be finished losing the feel anyway two two more names two three names and be good there's another person in government who literally gets involved in places where he shouldn't he wrote the school district but he likes twitter and he likes facts and he likes to defend hannity eden and he likes to defend and he does it even if it's completely not in his portfolio his name is joe petlin joe runs the public school system and curious it's it's a country it's absolutely not in his portfolio so to speak at all when there is bigotry and hatred i need to speak up but he does it anyway and he like ellie steinberg at least in the past a couple of couple years ago used to get a lot of pushback i guess there are some people in society who take offense when people who don't have longer fires actually defend orthodox judaism so joe you're a great music every time you tweet or you read tweets and you write something it's something that you're not supposed to be not supposed to do but it's not expected of you to do and you do it anyway uh it's a governing music i hope you can continue using the platform that you have for the defense of behind machines thank you mr love [Applause] oceanfact presents the 2021 asking government defenders of heineken you haven't seen the timeline of ron coleman ron is an attorney by trey i think his activism has already cost him some jobs but every day is several but every day he wakes up he sees a higher sheep in the middle and he can't help it and he goes out there and lands the punches that need to be landed and these things matter it's not about going around and boxing with everyone it's about shaping the conversation it's about getting the facts out there it's about uh keeping journalists and elected officials honest about the conversation so ron do you favor if you can please come up and accept an [Applause] present the award independent asking award this guy's completely independent don't try to control them actually to ron poman for helping in the battle against bigotry and the champions civil rights and civil liberties i would like to discuss or mention a person who he has a yiddish heart larger than it fits into the frame of a person cutting checks for an organization is not easy but it's good you call it a check and they call it another check and they call it another check but we don't honor in these awards the financial backers not because we don't respect it just the opposite tonight between six or seven o'clock we had a special session for larger donors tonight he invited donors to this event above a certain level but at the end of the day the amount of money that a person has or doesn't or can or cannot give to an organization it's it's a different level being the qualities it's a niche guest but when someone has a platform [Music] to advocate for this organization to advocate for when they are in the hospital to advocate for heinous when they see and feel that local governments people in local government have used them in the construction line and real estate line and to go out there and to make the noise and to make the difference that's something that has great value to this organization and i would like to i'd like to call up uh his name is mike smith independent aspen award to mayor tower for helping the battle against bigotry of the chanting civil rights and civil [Applause] liberties so i'd like to wrap up the comments that mentioning one person over the other does not mean that this person does more or less just impossible to express a thank you thanks to every person but the event in itself is an appreciation event when we invite when we invite people to this event it is because they give so much from themselves to us and there are a lot of names around it you can see each other and everyone uses their own for example they have two people standing in the door ready to leave husband roosevelt roosevelt for example take someone like that right [Music] regular basis and forever um take someone like eureka silver is busy on his phone right because he's bored the gabaldon record is that he has um [Music] then going back to the to the journalism world i have a column every week in a publication called the moment magazine that's the table where people are not listening to what i'm saying that is exclusive it's next to them atheists in the back over there and the writers over there use their also they have a platform they have a way to reach people and they make a difference over there minor tights and because behind again i'm not going to go through the whole room but i'm trying to stress a point that everyone that we invite is because they make a difference throughout the year for me personally for the organization more in general and for javascript kesley thanks for
