Yishai Fleisher: The Revelation: Who Split the Red Sea?

[Music] alright folks you are listening to the shine flasher show broadcasting live from Judea to the world and it is a beautiful sunset here in Judea on the first Sunday first jump is shown of : mode not the first day of color mode but but it's like the first reason I say it's the first Sunday which maybe doesn't make a lot of senses what I really meant to say is it's the first sunny day that's what I meant by Sunday right this Sunday it's also the first sunny day it's been you know rainy and and gray I'm not using the word gloomy or dark because it wasn't gloomy or dark it was beautiful but we've stopped saying the blessings are asking God for rain we've now asked them for do and as is often the case here in the Land of Israel when the Jewish people start to pray a for do and not for rain does the weather changes immediately the spiritual energy of the land is different and so today is Sunday and a sunny day and it's also like it's also a day that is past the hard part of Pesach which is cleaning and getting ready and past the first Shabbat of Pesach the past first few days and it's also a time where we're already kind of used to the corona life and so suddenly it's sunny outside and we're past some of the hard things and we're kind of getting into some kind of some kind of rhythm at least some of us and I I wanted to kind of you know turn a corner a little bit together with you and and use an energy that's in the air and that's the energy of Revelation now some people take that energy of Revelation which which we're hoping that this corona time with its dark cloud of death or and sickness over so many people is also going to bring into the world an element of Revelation other people see that revelation as something of an apocalypse people have certain people have a pop apocalyptic thinking and I can understand them you know I respect it I can understand it but I personally am of more of a believer in in in incredible changes that happen in this world if you think about it the things that happened from a hundred years ago to today are absolutely revolutionary massive evolutions massive revolutions empires that that just got totally whisked away in the paths from the past are they're not there today so we're talking about the austro-hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire and the British Empire the Japanese Empire and many other empires just kind of whisk the way in the last the German Empire really after after World War one and so so so many things changed and so I believe in like these kind of natural changes that happen I just think that that's the way God runs the world and I have a piece of news for people who think that the word apocalypse means utter destruction and stuff it does but the root of the word apocalypse actually comes from Revelation if you revelation and uncovering right if you look at Google and and it's from you know the compiled dictionaries it says that the word apocalypse comes from Old English the old French in ecclesiastical latin from greep from greek apocalypsis from apocalyptan which means uncovered to reveal okay so I prefer the apocalypse of Revelation while other people you know think of it's some kind of miracle and and and somewhat destruction so my my understanding is you know and I think that that's just the way of the world and at the same time nobody can deny that the world has also gone such incredible changes yet they seem natural but if you think about it they're almost like unnatural the technological revolution is only the latest of the revolutions and yet the coronavirus puts us as we've talked about before at a question mark of how much science can really conquer everything and we have to turn back to God with all of our scientific and power and knowledge and that brings me to the most incredible of all apocalyptic and revelatory moments which was the splitting of the Red Sea and in the next hour I'm going to give a class I'm gonna play for you a class that I gave a few days ago on zoom to Mizrahi World News Rafi and I talked about one of my favorite events which is the splitting of the Red Sea and the question mark is the question that I posed is who really split the Red Sea who really split the Red Sea and and I hope that you're gonna enjoy this class and the reason of course that we're talking about that now is not just because of coronavirus not just because of Revelation not just because by the way we're a hundred years and I'll and I'll be dealing with us in the next few weeks a hundred years since San Remo 100 years since discussed a few minutes ago including the austro-hungarian and the Turkish and and at the last two days on the 24th and 25th of April 19-20 in in San Remo Italy they discussed the dispossession of the Turkish the Ottoman Turkish assets including the Holy Land the land of Israel so called Palestine and guess what it was determined that the Balfour Declaration which was issued three years prior was going to be the in was going to be adopted as international law that happened 100 years ago now 100 years ago like this month and so amazing amazing changes and that leads all the way to the greatest revelation in modern times which was the six-day war when God's hand just reach down into this world and shows itself showed its truth all of the murder that the Jewish people suffered all the blood libels in Europe all the pogroms all the Holocaust all the death all the murder all the rape all the pillage the hand of God came down and said enough I am Alive and I'm going to allow the Jewish people to come back to their and and yet the rage against the Jews and the hate against the Jews continues but since that revelation of 1948 and 1967 really also nineteen twenty at the San Remo chords in 1917 the Balfour Declaration all those together a constitute a great great revelation and really showing of God's face God shows his face to us face to face if we just want to look at it and this next class is really about that amazing moment 3,500 years ago at the splitting of the Red Sea and the question is who really had the the merit the scoot to split that c4 that incredible moment where homeland our Heartland but we always go back to the splitting of the Red Sea we always go back to karate I'm tzuf as is really the the Jewish people are born as a nation I like to think that we come out one side of the sea as individuals a kind of group of individuals and on the other side would come out a nation we come out I'm Easter L because before we were just a fleam right we were slaves kind of referred to by our ethnicity which is Eve Lee on the other on the other side would become a messiah so so I want to ask a question for today's class which is very simple who splits the Red Sea another said let's go back to Egypt and another said let's just jump into the sea and commit suicide so everybody knows those kind of four groups but what you may not know is that there was also a has slave mentality is like what do we need this for and they do what Jews do which is they yell out and usually what Jews do before we yell to God we yell at our leadership and everybody's like Moses what do we need this for and then Moses turns to God and he too praised and then God turns around to Moses and he says the most strange thing that that is very foreign to Jewish ears he says but you have seven will shed my teat sock a lie why do you cry out to me why should you cry out to me the bid it when they slammed Esau speak to the children of Israel and let them travel let me let me say it a different way stop talking to me just go go just go that's what God says to Moses don't don't don't don't spend your time praying right now it's go time it's go time but this is a verse that we as Jews kind of you know don't feel so comfortable with what do you mean don't pray we're in a heap of trouble and we turn to God you know you hear that all the time just turn to God turn to God we gotta tehreem is one of them and you know that breed been appearing the covenant between the parts is important but you just don't always understand the language exactly what it's trying to say so let me say it outside of the text and then we'll jump into the text basically Abraham asks for proof god how will I know that I will inherit the land and what what God says to Abraham he says okay I will I will there's really there's two promises that the promise to inherit the land and the promise to have a child who will continue the line of Abraham those are related things but in this case how will I know that I will inherit the land God says no problem I'll give you a proof and here's the proof here's the vision and this is going to be the covenant between the parts now there's different ways of understanding a certain word which probably means three the word three it's it's the word mr. lash is not always understood what what it means here but the simple most readily accepted version is that God says to Abraham I want you to take a three animals three types of animals three of these three types of animals and I want you to split them when I say split them I mean nose to tail I want you to at this birth canal will the nation come out on the other side the nation of Israel so so back to our original question who who split the Red Sea who split the Red Sea so in my mind it was it was God but it was the promise to Abraham it was the promise to Abraham that God may so many years before that and told him this is what its gonna look like I promise you this is what its gonna look like and
