Shalom and welcome hello BJ good to see
you oh my gosh
too long yes yes yes yes yes it was
great to be in my lair to meme a few
weeks ago to do a show with you but it's
great to be at the old mahogany table
here at is it mahogany wood table the
wood table here in partes it's just good
to be out of house it's good to be out
of the house is good be in Jerusalem you
live Mirko - you shall I'm is wet that
it was the country cold it's cold let's
get this let's get this through our our
head here the Keen air it went up by a
meter a lot by a meter look at that in
service area right they don't they don't
even tell you how much that is in cubic
you can only figure it out you figure it
out you have to get the size the
circumference the whole thing yeah but
we're talking about tons that I mean
tons of water so a lot of water has
fallen Buddha kasha here in the Land of
Israel and we still coming down it's
still coming down this weekend
we're expecting yet another downfall all
because in tevinter the concern tevinter
and and you know what I really I really
like I'm so thankful and my mom god
bless her was getting a Stickle
depressed cuz of the grayness outside so
I said to her listen here's my advice
for winter my advice is when it's really
raining cold outside like do it right
turn on the heat
put on the socks curl up with a book god
soon clean out a desk you know I mean
like do stuff inside and like let
yourself like really nest nest in that
in that gray zone outside and just enjoy
it inside and then last night maka made
show hot cocoa not show coke hot cocoa
as in melted chocolate with marshmallows
and my daughter and I and actually
Eleazar as well
joined in and watched a little bit of
Star Trek next generation a shout-out to
Arthur he knows that some of us you know
post Russian Jews still need that that
Star Trek next generation
speaking Russian Jews to see the sweater
way I missed the connection for some
reason Russian Jews love Star Trek next
year
a weird thing okay it's like a weird
thing but we love it literally speaking
of Russians I am wearing my fatherís a
sweater oh also my dad's sweater here
I was yeah yeah I took out my I can't
wear his ties cuz they're not they're
not with the times okay
they're closeted you know you know
what's what's the matter with the time
wearing don't you know it's out of style
anyway today's show is a special one
because we're actually in a very special
week well first has been those big rains
and then we also have this this massive
ingathering
of the world's leaders the princes and
kings of the world Dukes and duchesses
princes and kings prime ministers and
and in dictators and dictators exactly
was gonna say you know are are coming to
town literally tonight going to be a
king they were dictator it's just more
it's much more legitimate sounding every
sneers at kings I don't know right now
being a king is not so fashion well you
got this you got you know Prince Harry
being a prince he's not he's anyway he's
second in line to the throne I mean come
on I think he's six whatever but but
yeah I know what you mean no it was
interesting if if you and and I wanted
to and I did want to hit this tangent
for a second you know the first line of
the book of Ruth is like it was in the
days when the judges were being judged
yeah
well literally is when the judges judged
that's the way the sages read it meaning
if it was in the days that the judges
judge the sages read it the way you just
said it right which is the judges word
judge yeah you can read it both ways you
can really dramatically Photoshop team
it's it's it's kind of the reason that
the sages read it is because kind of a
it doesn't quite you don't need to kind
of say judges judged it's like the
judges were being a judge do it so
anyway here's here's the here's the
point I'm looking at the world right now
right and I am it is it is I have to say
a mesmerizing drama out there not that I
want to get into the weeds and the
nitty-gritty of it all but you have a
you have an American president who from
Israel's point of view and when I say
that I could speak not only of my
opinion but the opinion of the majority
of Israelis for from Israel
that's been proven time and time again
that the majority of Israelis see the
new American president president Trump
is doing great things and have a high
approval rating from here to Israel from
Israel to America we view him as a good
president and and by the way I dare say
that there hasn't been I haven't seen
any numbers on this but I'm pretty
confident when I say that I think that
the Arab world also looks at President
Trump that idea in in large measure and
says like okay you know I mean we got a
player here that we like as opposed to
President Obama which was well known
that the Saturday's and others were not
happy with him the Egyptian people were
not happy with him in any case he didn't
have a president who's relatively
popular from this perspective and I'd
say that uh-huh but in the United States
he's literally being he's on trash ride
this morning weird thing happened my my
beloved son Eleazar didn't feel so good
so you wanted to stay late uh and and my
mom my wife Macha allowed him to stay
later so so I was on Twitter as as my
want and he was looking at me and then I
saw that he was like he was like hugging
me was right next to me and he we saw
both of us that there's some live stream
Reuters had a live stream of the
American impeachment trial which was
must have been super late in America
because it was early morning year it was
live stream they must have been up very
late at night over there we still
working for their money in DC and we hit
the live play button and we watch it I
was very surprised that my
eight-year-old son was very very
interested in this I know that I was
always when I was a little kid it was
interested in c-span and stuff like that
but I didn't think that my Israeli boy
you gonna give your whole life been I've
been a geek force definitely definitely
since after the army like III I switched
over to geek them yeah but you like see
spend as a child it seems that they were
some of the early warning signs no I I
didn't like it as each other did
starting when I went to college which
was which was like at the age of 21 but
then I watched it incessantly it would
relax with it you know I found it to be
relaxing how their brain asleep but I
knew the schedule of things I knew I
enjoyed it I like I like c-span and it
was weird we only had TV with a little
game a buttons to get the vote on your
end but do you say that it's governor
they called the yeas and nays today and
and and they called it a fact
it's the best part you know it's a good
part the yeas and nays anyway bottom
line is the the my son was asking me a
lot of questions I had to try to give
him you know it's so tricky too I want
to give him as much cold facts without
coloring him with my opinion and at the
same time giving him also my opinion
sure but like making sure that he cuz I
don't want him to become just a parent
what you said right I don't want that I
wanted to think it through sure but at
the same time I want to help him
understand through stuff you know there
was a like Adam Schiff the you know
stood up as the prosecuting attorney in
the Senate and I had to tell him what I
thought of it you know no matter what I
thought of this conspiracy no but that
that that this guy is dead said and
bringing down this president and that I
told him that he was Jewish and that was
important like for example he picked up
when they they said mrs. Feinstein he's
like Einstein I'm like no Feinstein
thing and fight that whatever it is my
eighth is an eight-year-old boy and he's
looking at this stuff for looking at but
any case he's being exposed to the fact
that this president who he knows that
his father appreciates is being tried in
the United States of America in the
Senate by the Supreme Court the Supreme
Court justice is presenting the chief
justice so it's like that's not a small
thing no no this is not small it's not
small okay so to Prime Minister of
Israel soon is the media strike yeah the
news day in day out
they're trying how the trials supposed
to go right they're trying now
no big they've already decide how the
trial supposed to go you're saying
monster wants to have a hearing about
what you know what is admissible and
what is not admissible and all these
things and you know does he have a right
to be to parliamentary immunity immunity
so that's what my son is listening to on
the radio in the morning cuz at eight
o'clock that's exactly when the news
goes on we listen to it so as my with my
finger in the volume button because
they're always gonna talk some
inappropriate stuff about some some kids
something that I happened so i but
anyway okay so in the in israel and
here's a prime minister who with faults
and my as dimensional and with faults is
also a man was done great things for
this country in the last ten years
fine so so
here's judges judges are rulers right
judges are not just Supreme Court
justices they are judges as in judges of
Israel they are rulers they are they are
they are leaders leaders sovereigns
however you want to call them they're in
there on trial yes
PS you could also throw into that just
because we like threes the the Prince
Harry leaving of the the court exciting
he wants to spend less time with his
family more time on his job I mean the
way I understand that is that that even
though it's not being said this way
there isn't there is an accusation out
there against the monarchy it's a it's a
it's a can't be an easy life to live
it's not an easy life but but that's but
but but the but my point is is that on
the world stage the way it appear subtly
is it's a judgment is a judgment
judgment on the institution of monarchy
saying I want nothing more to do with
that right I want out yeah and that says
something which for you know maybe cite
my 11 year old daughter was shocked
why would someone not want to be a
princess right what do you mean right
right
she no longer dreams of being cleave in
England cuz I told her that they
wouldn't let her but it was when she was
young okay anyway so one aspect is the
judges are being judged okay just just
something that's happening out there in
the world on the other hand judges or
great leaders as we said are coming to
Jerusalem tonight and tomorrow the the
great warning of get out now while you
still can't breath city shuts down right
there's like a city shut down and and
not only that there's really one Road
from the airport to Jerusalem and and
everybody's just there it's gonna
actually be shut down I don't know I'm
getting home tonight if you get out in
time you'll be fine anyway they're not
heading to my lids I'm iam so you'll be
okay you should you should be alright
but but the bottom line is that all
these people are coming now I've heard a
lot of people pooh-poohing this thing oh
I need the Hungarians and the Ukrainians
to come here and and and say ah the
Holocaust was bad they were they were
themselves perpetrators of it that's the
line out there I happy man oh yeah
they're like
I need these guys to come here and and
and and and cry with me we have a lot of
chips on our shoulders yeah I'm like I'm
like I've said to people you are missing
the point
the point is who is the star of the show
is it the Holocaust the Holocaust
survivors nee na is it Auschwitz nay the
star is Jerusalem modern Staters are
writers Lamia that's the star that's the
thing that's who's on display here that
the God of Israel brought the Jewish
people out of utter destruction
unspeakable it's not assimilation
unspeakable murder unspeakable wholesale
destruction of the scale that nobody had
ever seen before and from that to bring
them to you shall I'm this incredible
city of light and to bring all these
world leaders to bow their heads in the
truth of that that's what this is about
this is about them recognizing and they
don't have to say a damn thing
whatever speech they make or don't make
it really doesn't matter the fact that
they land at Ben Gurion Airport I think
I rode up to Jerusalem and I'm gonna see
this beautiful modern city in the State
of Israel it's a repudiation of the
Holocaust and and it is what's happening
tonight and tomorrow is a massive
kaduche Ashim the the the title of it is
Auschwitz the reality of it is Jerusalem
yeah if you know I'm thinking that you
have said to me many times that any
opportunity where there's a possibility
for a kid to shoot him there's also a
tremendous risk of Hillel sham of the
sort of desecration of God's name and I
wonder what's the story that's going to
be told
cuz there's a lot of discussion and the
sides in the political community in the
historic historical community about the
narrative framing of who was at fault
right we're talking about Poland Co is
not coming and Putin's being front
loaded and and you know there's all
kinds of chatter happening right and
it's a it's it's a deep question I
feel like that we as a people are still
not able to own the narrative to the
extent where we can we can negotiate
that well so I I would hope that what
comes out of this is a sense of both the
absolute incomparable nature of the
Holocaust the particular sense that this
was not just another genocide but rather
was a war on the Jewish people mm-hmm
not just as a people but as an idea and
what we represent in the world and at
the same time a taking of stock by all
these world leaders that you know this
type of the type of murder I mean the
universal message is ongoing and that we
as a species have clearly not learned
the full lesson meaning I hear the
learning the lesson of coming to
Jerusalem is a very important one but
the purpose of Jerusalem is bring light
to the whole world and so I really do
hope that the light at the light is
there is that there's a judge like like
to me there's like a subtle message here
which is there's a judge who's gonna see
what you've done and when you do
horrible things you're gonna be judged
by that well that's my question and the
Justice gonna come out of there is there
real justice that's going to come out of
this because the reality is there's no
structure of international law other
than power at this point still today but
that's that is the lesson of how cuz
when i when i take out the hashem side
of it yes the holocaust and this to me
is like the the lesson is don't let it
happen to you yes but not the lesson of
the nations are gonna get together and
and and have a system of justice because
that's never worked and it didn't work
then yeah but it is our vision
ultimately and so therefore the the the
fact that the United Nations I'm not
sure again to come through I'm not sure
that our vision I'm not certain that our
vision is some kind of universal body of
justice I'm not sure about that read
Isaiah meaning this not a mistake the
United Nation takes Luisa go ahead go
ahead
Badou oat milk I'm that nation channel
not lift up sword against nation and the
nations won't learn war anymore it's not
that some accident that that is engraved
and the entrance the animations it's
just a failure of the moral fabric of
the organization that like has the hoods
but put it there the only way that
nations are gonna stop that is not
through an international body of
something-or-other it's going to be
through a consciousness of a greater
purpose and then in life and their and
their God consciousness if without that
people are always gonna be so scientists
without a political entity to embody it
this is a completely useless phenomenon
yes the reality of our thora that is a
reality of our Torah you God
consciousness actually seven actions yes
but I'm not sure but you I'm not sure
you could prove to me that that
necessarily means a centralized one
nations the world will need a body in
which they can deal with each other as
entities just like every individual
nation needs its body in order that the
citizens can deal with each other as
entities so far that has not proven to
be the case
okay be said everyone could also just
point out so far we've made progress
toward it I don't think the UN is a body
of progress its progress over the the
council of Vienna in the 19th century so
you know meaning it depends on what you
compare it to you know like you don't
don't take too narrow a worldview I
don't like the ICJ and I don't like the
ICC and I don't like this because
they're they're not driven by an actual
vision of justice but by the way let us
remember that if there is a world body
it is supposed to be centered in usual
lines that's what I just said when I'm
not looking to revamp the UN they stole
our culture do you know by the way that
possibly from Isaiah was unattributed
and until I think Pilate 20 years ago
yeah where was finally demanded that
they just note the fact just note that
they took it from our prophet yeah up
there originally it was unattributed
that is wrong yeah but it also says at
all this exactly your point meaning you
can't have that without the
god-conscious underlies it accuse you
understand but the same time the god
consciousness without a political
structure which negotiates the realities
of power mm-hmm will allow these world
leaders to come here bow their heads and
go home and slaughter their citizens and
that's what I worry about right well we
let me let me just say to you that the
last night
let-let-let late afternoon yesterday i
sat with a group of
herbs and this word harab started
yelling at us and he's like I will never
forgive you for empowering the
Palestinian Authority to make me live in
fear oh you know like it was just like
so horrible you know and I and I and I
and I marvel at the folks on the
so-called liberal left in Israel who
want to still portray the Palestinian
Authority is some kind of liberal
enterprise when my friends cannot take a
picture of with me they are afraid to
take a photograph man yeah or unless
they be tortured and imprisoned yeah and
so you know on the one hand and but that
was let's just make sure the people in
Turin that was explicit when we're being
made his famous statement that they
won't have to worry about patella more
Bhagat's I mean he created a Quisling
government which would be unrestrained
by democratic culture or law which could
could sort of fight who he deemed to be
our enemies and he had no care and this
is consistent you see it on the left
consists no care for the life that's
going to be lived under that role just
let me wash my hands to borrow a
cultural phrase of the situation write
us here them there right I've heard it
from from people here it's just like we
just need to draw clean border and
whatever happens there is not my problem
yeah that that's your sense of morality
no you feel guilty because you know how
to wield power and you're unwilling to
wield it and so therefore you'd rather
actually just step away but we both know
of course that what will that lead to is
you're gonna have to wield much more
brutal power just to defend yourself and
you tacitly in the meantime allow a
brutality test its explicit unless you
just simply stop your eyes and ears so
therefore you know Jerusalem has got a
little bit of work to do in order to be
that model that's the only thing I was
trying to say there the first work is
would be actually extending our power as
far as it can reach in this region in in
in pursuing a real vision of justice
that's right
speaking of that I just wrote an article
yesterday called the prayer Intifada and
that is about a new type of prayer
Intifada that's happening on Fridays
being run by both Hamas Fatah and a new
a new group which is Isis like
in their ideology caliphate like
thinking they're called something career
degree means liberty or freedom his
without the career party of like
Hezbollah is party of God because about
the careers party of liberation freedom
in any case there's Orwellian
doublespeak that's right that's right
freedom freedom to have a Caliphate so
that you won't have any more free what
means freedom from occupation the from
the colonizers and so has nothing to do
with the Western conception of freedom
that's right
in any case there they are gathering on
Friday mornings at like 4:00 a.m. at the
to give to the Muslims they don't that's
around when they pray yeah they're good
they're good at that and and and they
bring their young as well and they're
going to the Temple Mount and to to the
the the other noble sanctuary which is
the the Ibrahimi mosque ever owned
that's what they call we call it the
tomb of the forefathers and mothers but
they're gathering together and last week
they made all kinds of horrible
declarations including Jews remember
high bar which is where the Jews were
destroyed slaughtered and women were
taken captive by good old Muhammad
himself okay I just got to tell you the
Quran is a is a is a very challenging
document that I want to tell you that
it's it's a it has some deep deep
basically messages to kill Jews in the
very actions of the Prophet and so okay
anyway these these are the phenomenons
that we're having so we have on the one
hand a kind of effort to making a
religious uptick in Judea and Samaria
the West Bank
so-called West Bank we have the judges
being judged here in America but we also
have the world coming to pay homage to
the survival of the Jewish people and I
think that say it or don't say it won't
be nicer if you said it but God of
Israel is going to be on show as the the
liberator that's a career that brought
the Jewish people back the Land of
Israel into into Jerusalem oh that were
that our own government too
approach you know what Minh Tevan so
hard
no Menachem Begin style on American
congressman on our American senator
would say it without a problem
yeah Menachem Begin South something who
just simply recognizes that everything
comes from God right and and and whether
religion as its practiced day
Nessa's becomes a necessity as a
conclusion from that is its own question
but for a fewer Jew just recognize we're
playing on a divine playing field right
but but but but barring all that and
borrowing the right statements simply
coming to Jerusalem I agree with you I
think I think if even if it's not shed
and it's and it should be said and by
the way people don't see that they're
writing themselves out of history
meaning I mean on some level to come
here and not make the connection that
like Wow 75 years ago we're recognizing
the fact that these people were
literally on the lowest place on earth
right in every sense right and now here
we are in the capital of the regional
superpower and by the way have you read
the Bible
yeah I'm saying I'm like to me this is
to more tonight tomorrow is a kedusha
sham
that's I I really think that I think
it's gonna be just there's there's a
light that's coming out of here and that
light is and with us or not with us we
need to say we either know it or we
don't know it but but like that's
comment that's coming out this that's
how I feel about that altogether there's
a way to kind of look at all these
things as an element of like truth to
power trying to speak your truth even
judging the judges is some kind of
effort to like it's absolutely mean the
prophets that was their job right they
were they judge the judges the judges
even the prophets was an
institutionalized speaker of truth to
power and it really begins in our parsha
right i mean for example the prime
minister of israel in the meantime as
he's being kind of led into you know
into the into just going into the
courtroom he's like throwing out like
candies he's like we're gonna next
January
yeah he keeps he keeps though he said so
much so that Betty Ganz was was was
obligated almost from politics alone to
start talking about annexing the Jordan
Valley just because he wants to try to
snatch the center-right voters that are
starting to get sick of Bibi right I
wouldn't trust any of them to follow
through again it's sometimes like the
words are important here in this case
it's like there's a value that has that
has crept up I know some of the people
involved in hammering out that very
language for those values as in as in
the sovereignty movement yes as opposed
to annexation that I know the people
they themselves like crafted these words
really six seven years ago and and have
been hearing her way now that's part of
the lingo lingo is normal most Israelis
as well-known believe that the Jordan
Valley should remain in Israel's answer
so therefore like throwing that out is
important that means the map changes by
the way I'm gonna crank out a little
article saying that that one of the
things that can change very easily is if
we just started using a new language
when it comes to the territories or
Judea and Samaria or the West Bank just
are calling it this is so simple the
Israeli territories just like the United
States has Puerto Rico which is a u.s.
territory u.s. territory means we're
never leaving we haven't fully you know
made it into a super state right but
it's it's America and it's always gonna
be America and we just have to say about
even even if we don't man areas see we
just say these really territories here's
the thing though I with you okay
I'm with you but we need to actually
take it seriously it can't be an act of
rhetoric because the thing I believe
which is undermining our ability to
actually make that language a reality is
the consistent refusal of our government
to own full responsibility for what's
happening like whether it's the
environmental situation whether it's the
law and order question whether it's the
existence of jihadists that leads to a
military posture that prevents the
average citizen talk about average Arab
citizen from just living their life you
understand like if we want to making the
Israeli territories let's make them that
and actually sure it'd be full sovereign
in every sense I'm I'm I'm totally with
you man I'm totally with you we need to
think about that because
the switch of the language is not gonna
take us very far but a switch at the
posture work by Mike rabbi Mike listen
I'm involved in settlement activities
know right
but settlement activities means we take
whatever we can to to to create those
facts on the ground I want the
government I'm saying but we have forced
the government much to go in in our in
the right direction and now we're gonna
keep doing it I'm saying here's yet
another step I'm in full agreement with
you full full full agreement and I tell
people all the time I'm like the
so-called right wing the nationalist
perspective on Arabs is that whoever is
my resident whoever is the subject of my
sovereignty needs to be treated with
decency inequality and etc etc etc and
so so like I'm like more for human
rights than the left that wants to cut
it all it is is that the left has an
absolutist posture and it all follows
from a sort of very specific definition
of sovereignty which is that if the
Arabs living in you Donn children don't
have a nation-state style independence
then they actually have nothing right so
therefore we were oppressing them like
that dying that whereas the right says
no I'm not willing to do that for both
religious national historical and
security reasons fill in the blank but I
am willing to give everything except
that right and actually work toward all
kinds of creative solutions no no no
we're not willing to discuss those
solutions right because really you're
just trying to create second-class
citizens look and I didn't use that
language right so the absolutism yeah
you know and thank God you reminded me
yet there is one last thing that I do
want to talk about right before we get
to the Torah portion here this is very
important well the Torah portion links
into everything we're talking about sure
it's very important what I'm about to
say and I'm gonna be talking about this
for the next many weeks do yourself a
favor and listen to me now so you can
not listen to me later okay right now
the wzo the World Zionist Organization
is having an election for the delegates
these delegates decide where basically a
billion dollars gets allocated is that
much money it's a ton of money that's a
lot
money it's a ton of money and it's a ton
of power and I know for a fact what I
didn't know I know today for a fact how
it impacts the issues that we're facing
now if you're an American
self-identified Jew if you're a person
will the living in America and as a
self-identified you over the age of 18
and you have a credit card with an aunt
within a u.s. address you must go to
scientists election org okay you must go
to sinus election that the Israelis
can't do it let's make it clear if
you're in Israel you already have if you
can if you vote in the Israeli elections
because our political parties also get
representation in the wzo right
fortunately basically it's supposed to
let me make it just simple we have the
the elected body here in Israel called
the Knesset the diaspora has got a voice
in Israel it's called the wzo okay let's
just make it simple you go to Zionist
election or RG and you pay seven dollars
and fifty cents it's a ripoff okay sorry
I'm sorry that we have to that you have
to pay money at all but it makes it
serious I don't think that's such a big
deal you don't think it's a big deal
good I like that good you're right
you're right it's not a br bucks no
seriously you're right you're right it's
right it's but you know people like why
should I pay money to vote you know what
it's like you don't pay it you don't pay
taxes in Israel so this is like your
little tax to make this thing happen
you're right anyway thank you I'm glad
you I'm glad you you aired that out
$7.50 you vote now there are many a
slate okay you go for a slate that's
what you do you vote for a slate you
vote first late and there are many a
slates okay there is the folks that call
for progressivism in Israel they call
for two-state solution LGBT totally
qualities and all these guys that's
their platform you could read it
yourself
for example Hatikva I don't recommend
voting for those parties that's not
that's not my cup of tea
and if you're listening to the show
maybe first thing I don't care what you
vote for it just vote just get let's get
this straight I'm step one get involved
right step one is I'm what I'm doing is
getting out the vote I'm not telling you
who to vote for okay and I wouldn't
presume to did no I'm saying that's my
opinion but but I wouldn't vote for them
but you can and if that's what that's
what your cup of tea is great do that
and have a voice in Israel have a voice
in Israel on the other side of the aisle
there are a lot of good parties that are
running the COA has a giant slate that
includes everybody like so many people
including like H and all kinds of stuff
like that they're all bundled together
tons of like good and Lilly coud is
bundled together with the W's with with
the CoA under Morton Klein I like that
party a good friend you who the Cohen is
running a party he's not running in it
because I know it's again it's called
it's called visions it's called visions
it's a good party with a very young kind
of feel and it is vision for Zionism
Mizrachi he's got a slate the OU's got a
slate and there's other ones there's
revisionist as well there's great folks
from my point of view we want to get a
coalition of nationalists pro-israel
parties okay and there and there are
other ones there are other ones and and
just getting involved is the greatest
thing so I'm begging you out there if
you're listening to the show if you're
over 18 if you're an American citizen
not an Israeli citizen and your self
identifies a Jew notice that how I use
that language I use that cautiously and
carefully whatever I'm not asking who
your mom is
if you feel that you can check the
button that says I'm Jewish or I
self-identified as a Jew click that
button and vote if you care about Israel
and you as self identifies a Jew click
that button and vote just just do that
the website is Zionists election org by
the way a lot of the organizations
approached me and said you know help us
help us help us help us I said to them I
decided yes I will help you I will get
out the vote that's that's that's that's
the help I'm gonna min I'm gonna start
pumping that out it's simple and it's
it's it's and it's real yes I'm Dyslexic
possess elections a billion dollars is
real yeah it's it's it's real like I'm
telling you it's real it's real it I've
run it's real it deals with allocations
of JNF money for example okay so it has
a lot of power all right so so
everything we've talked about is truth
to power and and you also got a speak
truth to power out there with your
ballot with your ballot you know if
we're in the age of democracy play
democracy that's right you know if
that's the game that's been allotted to
us don't be pining away from monarchy
all the time you know play to win
yeah play to win but play with your time
playing the game I mean play win take it
seriously right or you went to play I
don't know just yeah beat be be alive in
your time this is what the the world has
given us the universe's has given birth
to the Shem has given us the opportunity
please be part of it okay that I mean
alright so let me know if and let me
know if you have any problems with that
please write me an email you shite the
Land of Israel calm and Rabbi mic of
course is rough Mike at the Land of
Israel calm okay
Tyra okay last week last week I didn't
get a chance to speak with you
I've we had mark on the show instead we
talked about the the the prequel the
Moses life enter Moses mmm-hmm the
deliverer the back story yet the back
story which I really appreciate you know
with Avraham and stuff we don't get the
backstory it's a big question but like
most most surveyed and we get the
backstory yeah you know we get the
foundational psychology of this you know
and we also miss just an image for baby
Moses huh an image for baby Moses baby
mother why's what we eat what we eat for
pigs in the blanket here that's right
that's right there we talked about that
did I forget to say that last week in
Israel that pig in a blanket is called
Moshe but Ava that itself is something
you should say chef Tiana and your and
you hold a pig in a blanket and you know
that you made all the on now you can eat
emotion but Ava that's a totally
different thing and when I say eat Moshe
but if I don't mean some kind of
Christian thing where you're eating the
body of Moses you mean a hot dog wrapped
in dough that's what I mean okay
it just happens to be called Moses in
the are in the basket in the basket okay
so we talked about that this week at the
end of last week's Torah portion you
know the end of the the Torah portion of
genesis of Bereshit god's like oh man
this world is a disappoint the world is
not so good i created i may have messed
up because and you know and i like i
like Noah but like God was saddened on
to his heart here in the beginning of
the book of Exodus it's like Moses is
like God you disappointed me you know
that I'm just disappointed you know any
I think Rashi their word I think it was
a Russia or some other content I was
like he's
well you're not going into land of
Israel yeah Rashi break that down it's a
very deep question there I love it I
love it it's like it's like you won't
you you won't see my full you'll see
what I'll do to borrow but you won't see
well do 231 Kings right you won't see
the the fault the full Redemption cuz
you cuz yeah because you were I mean in
a way it's a very important insight
because of course Rashi is not arguing
it's in the Midrash she's not arguing
with the idea that Moshe doesn't go in
there it's sale because he struck the
rock what he's pointing out is what's
the underlying psychology that led Moshe
to that moment of despair that caused
him to hit it which is that Moshe had a
hard time holding the process when most
is a classic challenge for someone who
sees the truth right and it gives them
their power that's why he's willing to
stand up to look at power and say like
you're nothing I'm speaking on behalf of
God at the same time it makes it very
hard for him to be an educator to the
people for whom he doesn't want to look
at them as nothing he wants them to come
along and learn to see the world in the
right way but he suffers continually
from the fact that they're not where
he's at and so therefore that quality
actually doesn't make him the right
leader for going into the Land of Israel
where as we know things are gonna get
worse before they better but also Moses
has a certain kind of hutzpah like that
impatience is the kind of impatience of
a man who wants Redemption is willing to
do something about it and one could say
that the early Zionists had that
impatience yes they had a certain like
okay God like look we need to do this so
let's do this type of thing it's like
it's like it's like why did you do bad
for the people you said you would do
good so let's do good
it's I'm just saying Moses is a pusher
he's pushing it he's a pusher who's
who's pushes based on sense of truth and
rectitude right in the same way the
early Zionists they had these ideologies
that they believed this is how it must
be right like it's an unnatural state in
exile or you know the Communists
socialists right we must sort of
recreate a proper labor oriented Jew and
it just must be so and it leads to a
tremendous ability for self-sacrifice
mm-hmm my theory on the secular zionists
is that they were they were greatly
needed because the Jewish people had
been bred out of one characteristic
trait and that trait was
action and we were bred out of action
and they had to be careful we read out
of action in the physical historical
world that's what I mean - action
well but the mitzvot are action I'm
talking about action of the worldly kind
I know you I just want to point out that
careful not to fall also into the
Zionist trap of disparaging the action
of the mitzvot right no no no no no
there was plenty of missiles but there
was but there was no the crank had
gotten completely rusty on the
historical physical frame right and it
but it had been totally bred out yeah
and so you needed a generation that was
going to be all the way attuned to the
other side and so is to breed into the
to the Jewish people that that
characteristic trait of action and they
were completely and utterly successful
we've you read rough cooks eulogy of
Herzl yeah it's a very important insight
there where II I mean obviously wasn't
his thought but he's one of the people
who really pushed the frame that that
that process is a messianic process of
me chef Ben you're safe right like
Joseph who was the man of action he got
out there he brought in the wheat he
figured out the distribution system he
rearranged the country but he can't
actually bring Redemption because the
reality is that's the platform for the
revelation it's not the revelation
myself that's right so the Jewish people
are are in in prison and in slavery in
Egypt Moses speaks truth to power power
speaks back to truth and says not gonna
hang not gonna happen
right and and and and pushes back this
week's Torah portion is seven of the ten
plagues and these plagues and now the
Habad read klemish I forgot there's a
special name for it has an excellent
list that I took a picture of this
morning and it let's just talk about the
first seven then we're going to talk
about today
Aaron's staff swallows the staff of the
Egyptian sorcerers if they're meant when
it's plagued their own assigns one two
three four five six seven eight nine ten
eleven they added that one as a miracle
first what he does so fairness Pharaoh
given the effect is that Pharaoh has
given a message that God's rulership his
staff is mightier than his own then the
Nile turns into blood that which means
the deity of Egypt the Nile is afflicted
in its entirety infestation of frogs the
deity of Egypt the Nile is source of
havoc for the whole of Egypt lice
infestation Egyptian sorcerers are
unable to duplicate miracle they confess
that as the finger of God this is the
headlines right there you read that one
hey unable to do clean vehicle must be
finger of God says I'm in cotton that's
right a mixture of wild animals snakes
and scorpions is incited upon Egypt
Egypt is thrown into a unprecedented
havoc yeah well lions tigers bears to do
that I gotta tell you something about
heaven that filled me just a second
death of cattle through disease the
cattle of those Egyptians who feared God
is spared start to make some
distinctions here right humans and
animals infested with boils Egyptian
sorter sorceress are utterly humiliated
and are ashamed to appear before Pharaoh
they like they're just they're hideous
hail kills humans and animals God's
precision is demonstrated in the exact
time that the plague begins moreover
there is the famous Rashi there that the
water and the fire coexisted these two
opposites came to peace in order to
serve God I like that Rashi a lot yeah
well by the way that like concepts a
very important concept within Taurus
that is that opposites either you know
destroy each other meaning they can't
coexist but properly framed they are
expressing a deeper will so here you
have the fire inhale but you know where
the classic example is you put metal
between them and you can have a cup of
tea meaning there's a way in which the
opposites of fire and water can be in
service of and that's the deeper truth
then so I cuz I'll say that that Shalom
peace is the place where fire and water
coexists you can think of that as some
like divine perspective I can't conceive
that or you think I'm in there you
practical perspective which is how do I
bring them together in a way in which
their difference actually serves
it's a beautiful meditation for this
week folks it's a great meditation for
us this week think about fire and water
coexisting think about your various
either either people in your family or
people at work or even internal
characteristics traits that are at odds
and trying to find some kind of peace
with them and really the clue is in the
service of God yeah what's the vessel
that holds them it allows them to be in
service of right in simple ways like if
we all agree that we're in the service
of God then our different our different
characteristic traits come into into
into play and they come to harmony
because they're all focused on a point
like together then at the risk of doing
too far into the counseling work I do
that that this is the baal shem tov says
there's a three-step process in knowing
oneself in that respect that it's non of
Delevan Tukka that a person has to have
to has self-discipline need to be little
control your behavior then you have to
be able to separate yourself from each
of your qualities Havdalah and say i am
not my anger i am not my desire right I
had this thing I have then there's um
Tucker which is that each of them is
somehow a gift because it is expressive
of some power within you seeking outlet
and once you can do that full process
then each of them has its right place
and and you can really achieve wholeness
beautiful excellent
speaking of threes just uh just now in
DAF yummy I'm a little bit behind a few
pages but like right now was a was the
strangest Michelle they were talking
about whether you should mention the
teach the pressure off seat seat at
nighttime mm-hmm and the question is
like won't in the time of the redemption
we're not we don't need to mention the
the Egyptian the exodus from Egypt
because it says in Jeremiah I think 23
that that that in in the time of the
Great Redemption they won't say anymore
they took a centimeter per hour I don't
gathered you from the north and all the
other countries right okay so it's in
the Haggadah right it's another goddess
so so the the answer was no no it
doesn't mean totally racism in the
Egyptian thing it'll just be secondary
people be like and also Egypt and then
they give him a shot they're like it's
like a
person who was attacked by a wolf and
overcame that and then told everybody
was telling people about how I got it I
got attacked by wolf and I overcame it
by a lion my lion this is it this is
important so attacked my line and he
stopped talking about the wolf and he
started talking about the overcame a
lion and then thirdly he was attacked by
a snake and then he talked about the
snake and the the the inferences that
the snake is yet more dangerous yes okay
hold on one second now I'm not a great
it's a possum while at most I'm not a
great zoologist I'm not I think of you
as one I'm not a great zoologist but I
have faced some snakes I want to say
that snakes are quite dangerous can be
but a lion eats people you know and I
mean if it's angry in a bad place you
know and a snake doesn't really eat
people so often you know it could be
kinda know I could theirs and their
stories but like like a lion thing that
brings down wait hold on I'm I'm looking
forward to going somewhere I thought to
myself this was actually a message about
the challenges of the three the first
temple second temple of Third Temple and
appeared the first temple I don't know
about the first temple is much how it
connects to a wolf but I'm sure it's
there but the second temple was the
Romans the Romans destroyed Second
Temple they are Lions they are big lions
this is the Miami yeah this is the most
lioness of all empires that ever existed
this is the lion this is the leader of
the great and mighty armies of Rome
nothing's existed like that that's them
strongest and most and also the greatest
leader like the Gemara says like the the
effect of Rome will never be erased from
this world it's a kalai and it's like
it's like that look uh that's a
superpower of superpowers anyway it's
Rome in Persia that will last into the
days of Monsieur I is it ok alright
alright so so that ok so you know Persia
led into into Rome finally with a little
Greece in the middle but and I mean
Greece the country and
no I'm just saying like in terms of
where we're at today right noteworthy
but like the final challenge is gonna be
more snaky the snakes are sticky yeah
that we have remember that we have to
deal with snakes not with frontal Wars
we're not dealing with frontal Wars as
much we're dealing right now with much
more of psychological warfare of erasure
of effort to erase our history of sneak
attacks we're dealing with a frontal the
language violence lion we're dealing
with the Greeks the Greeks yeah but what
did they use the the leader on a
different method bad they were the
toughest and at the room you know you
know you know the the witch whatever
Legion was you the tenth I think in
Jerusalem wasn't over like 200 years in
occupation in occupation duty we're
talking about talking about some serious
fighting machine here that's the line
the snake that's the time that we're
living in that yes there are fought
shaking hands like there was no Yasser
Arafat's shaking hands in the Roman
times the way things work right dealing
with front told battles right now we're
dealing with with snaky battles and
that's and that's a great battle and
that's the challenge of our time that
was my thinking on that no I was gonna
add is there how is the first how is the
Babylonians like wolves though I'm sure
it's true but I think maybe they're
wolves because they carried off the
captivity into Babylon you know wolves
like grab a prey and they pull it back
like they yeah I was the only I was at
least is that there's a there's an echo
in there and have to look at the Chimera
to see if because I'll quote it of that
very important puzzle can almost in the
5th chapter I was in the 19th line there
about how like it's like a man flees
from a lion and then runs into a bear
and he threw this in the bear and he
ends up putting his hand on the wall and
getting bit by a snake right right that
there's a there's a sense that
oftentimes to what is most dangerous is
that what you perceive to be least
dangerous but don't forget you're gonna
what snakes any people that's not the
way that's all thought of snakes
let's just talk a little bit of snakes
tongue people they herpetology right
yeah
poison the poison poison that and then
in that a snake is small and seemingly
harmless but packs
the most deadly punch right because the
reality is you have probably more chance
of surviving a lion attack than you do
of the most deadly the deadly serpents
here in the Land of Israel certainly in
their day sure and just you know I think
that it goes hand in hand what you're
saying is they don't dismiss the power
of the challenges that we had today
because we seem to be powerful this is
one of our challenges like we have a big
army
if Rome commands today we'd whooping but
we're flailing in that battle to to
elevate the spirit of our own people in
the people of the world in the way in
which were meant to do rain that
captains through language on Simchat
Torah I was walking home with a group of
people now walking to shore with a large
group of people here inertia lion and a
coiled small triangular head snake was
on the sidewalk in your salon really
with it with up with a with a bad head
yeah I mean the kind you know did you
kill it I certainly did
yeah I took a piece of wood I know and
everybody's like what the heck bro
special story people walking out it was
on it wasn't in the forest it was on the
street corner I lived in some crevice
nearby yeah I smashed it everybody was
like what happened there and I nailed it
to the doorpost okay here we go
now I want to go backwards for a second
and just do that the we're still at
startup zone at the beginning of this
Torah portion before we get to the
plagues there's really one of my
favorite monologues because God really
monologues oh yeah this is this is and
maybe this has got maybe maybe this is
God's longest monologue as in in his
voice I'm not sure but I don't remember
that there's another in God's voice
there's there's there's obviously
monologues of meets mode and stuff like
that
you know of how things should be done
but here that God is talking in his
voice and telling us like the whole
story and here let's do it together
well we're in the second Torah portion
in the book of Exodus it's called Vieira
and starts in chapter 6
strangely verse 2 okay
vita bella' loki el machete ami de
l'avenir Shem so God spoke to Moses and
said I am Hashem I am the Tetragrammaton
named Vera I'm elite stockwell yaqoub el
shaddai push me Hashem loan without to
them I showed myself to Abraham Isaac
and Jacob through the god of Cal shock I
which is the way I understand it and
I've seen this also set a few times this
is the god of fertility okay you'll be
AB great nation you'll become a nation
that's my blessing to you
but Shmi Hashem alone with nothing but
my full tetragrammaton name I did not
reveal to them which means go ahead
means I was not known to that house not
known to them right right because as
Rashi points out what do you mean like
they knew that name they knew that name
but that's why Rashi says the tension
between Shaddai is the promise er that's
the god of promises right and the the
four-letter name of God is the God of
payment of fulfillment right I I would
say differently I would say when was the
god of give birth donation the other one
is redemption of the nation admits the
same promise in fulfillment okay good so
then so then so then we had a we had a
okay
began Hakim ot ability I shall and
indeed I shall what's the word acuity I
established my covenant with them let a
lemon I'd ever taken on to give them
land oh yeah you think it's an ass you
for sure
Hakim ulti right maybe but it costs
maybe I established he swings gave it I
said I made myself known to them as kill
Jedi I may I I establish my covenant
with them to give in the future right
right that's what I'm saying it's it's i
establish minh the covenants in the past
but like you said but the promise to
actually give them is in the future okay
fulfillment coming and totally right
that's what he saying therefore now i
didn't have the time i heard the cry of
their children when ii forgot my key mo
te tii also fulfilled no i stylus
established establish my covenant with
them latet l'homme tenets canal to give
them the land of canaan edits magorium
the land of their sojourn so share God
by which they lived in which they surged
earning right yes yeah
the gamma Nisha mati a gum here means
and I also but it probably means about
however Anisha mati I heard it knock
cabinets the cry of the children of
Israel
I showed me time a vadim item which
which Egypt is subjugating them visco
pretty and I remembered my covenant that
thing that we just talked about a minute
ago I said so now I agree with you more
I established a previous covenant with
the forefather Moshe why are you here
with me now because I heard their cry of
their children and I remember the code
it's time left and therefore a mobile
device I say to the children of Israel
Aeneas Shem I am a Shem of the
Tetragrammaton vote SETI at them and I
will take you out meet a curtsy
voltmeter I am I will take you out of
the bondage of Egypt Viets all t of them
I will I will save you me avoid attempt
will not save you okay save you from
their their their work or their
enslavement the godly of them and I will
redeem you it's not better word for
redeem I never liked that word Redeemer
no I think is actually a very important
no you and I had this discussion because
the race was important because the the
monetary what's the other word for kill
a lot of them Redemption okay yeah go
ahead mister say that the the the the
gula has a specific monetary meaning in
the the discourse of the Torah which is
that something which has a value that
you and you want to take possession of
that thing that there is an exchange
meaning the way you get possession for
something Israel is paying its full
value and and in many ways the suffering
of the Egyptians is payment that God
exacts in order to take it's a strange
to have a payment granted but there's
there's a lot to be said about the fact
that Gulas monetary meaning okay the
gods erm and I will redeem you bestow on
a to yah with a outstretched arm right
outstretched arm ooh [ __ ] Fatima dalam
and with great judgments or great
miracles great wonders great judgment
judgment I'm Fatima means I also do
great like well but the judgment
happened through the vehicle miracles we
don't but don't forget it this is not a
dog-and-pony show it's not lights and
they know God is
specific judgment on the nature of
Gyptian society right okay but Oh Liam I
hope great judgments but then why is it
big because that's I'll tell you why
it's because we're still talking about
it now right okay
so big judgments for like a thing if the
Egyptian economy had just gone kaput
right and and and suddenly there had
been some internal strife that led to
the freedom of the slaves and ami soil
had left it would have achieved the same
effect historically speaking we've been
set free but we weren't be still be
talking about it today I understand
Villa costly at the time and then okay
so that's the Egypt part but now Villa
Kathy I will take you I will take you
villa casa let's comely lamo take you to
me to be a nation very lehem looking and
I will be for you a god
via dot Tim this is by the way the only
thing in this whole list that you have
to do the only little thing you got one
shot one small job I will do and I
counted ten verbs we could talk about it
later of things that I've done or will
do I'll do ten actions I'm asking you do
one thing one thing only it's just to
know it that's all I'm asking you just
have the consciousness that's like the
big ask is just to see it which is a big
ask
it's from Judas I mean listen in our and
look for their generation it might have
been a little bit easier although I
would argue that the the UDI used the
word consciousness which is a very
important one their problem was that
their consciousness was formed in
slavery right so they knew as a point of
information because they experienced it
but in terms of a consciousness they it
was unavailable to them we don't have
the point of information because we
didn't experience it but our
consciousness has been shaped by the
snowing that's right but still the big
job is to know it oh for sure the big
job is to talk about what it means to
know to never a passive state right
right but and that's your only job
really you got it you got to know it it
is the frame for all existence remember
he's not talking about point of
information but that's what I mean
exactly back to the Jerusalem story you
don't even have to do that much
you just have to know it God has done
these things I know why you're saying it
that way but open up it that that is
that is the fundamental the way in which
you know the world is the baseline for
all the actions you take right for the
opinions you hold for the relationship
your narrative is your laws their policy
so everything's it's not
point information I have to check the
box dude gotta figure out a [ __ ] yours
no no no it's know exactly what is the
cognitive frame right what does the
world look like in light of the fact
that God brought us out right good via
data me shall know Kiani and Shamu can
fry that I am a shame your God how much
see it let me talk to Bob it's a
machinery guard who takes you out of the
bunch bondage of Egypt via vetti a tram
l ha ha
it's I will I will bring you to the land
which land a share masotti a tid which I
have raised my hand
Lata Tata laughs around exactly Satya
Dede could mean I've taken an oath yeah
language right that I that I've taken an
oath that I've raised my hand razor
right in that's right to give latecha to
give the land lava Hamlet's Hokulea Cove
that I promised to give to Abraham Isaac
and Jacob villa and indeed when I Tatti
oat I'll give it I'll give her luck to
him I'll give it to you Masha in eternal
inheritance ani hashem yep
this word more shot only appears one
other time the whole Torah which is more
shocking Yakko writes taurat see violent
emotion more sake lotta curve that the
Torah is also an eternal inheritance
yeah and these are the two things the
Torah and the Land of Israel the Torah
the Land of Israel because they're the
two primary vessels for the national
relationship with God right and I would
say they're also you say that way and I
would say they're the vessels for one
another you want the Land of Israel you
Toro for sure you want real Torah you
need the Land of Israel
yeah but both of those things that they
are the more a shot
they are the more Assad they are they
engaged to one another these two things
Torah in the land of Israel that they
work together great so so but the Jewish
people were not able to it doesn't say
they didn't believe it but they weren't
able to hear it like I said I don't you
know I feel you I hear you I couldn't
they couldn't hear it because they were
too short of breath well yet in and
under and under bondage coats our walk
is an important concept for our day
because I think actually it's an
undervalued reality that we still live
in a time of code to rule right we live
in a Supercuts of rook yeah but okay
fine meaning but one could say that
after 70
years of Independence maybe we should
have a little bit more bandwidth right
but I think that but the reality is they
coats are Roth is is just I would say a
narrowness of spirit right right and
this is a well-established many very
interesting works in within our world
the H kodesh that means that's the Rabi
writes about how one of the great
problems of suffering is that it narrows
the spirit and we become incapable of
knowing the world other than through the
lens of our suffering so so to the
slaves of Egypt the concept of freedom
which was being offered which is not a
freedom in the Western sense of
liberation from but it's actually a
freedom of right of the ability to
actually engage God and the fullness of
our individual and our collective
experience right that was inconceivable
they weren't able to hear it because
they they lacked the bandwidth in our
language so so too today right we we
like we want an easy life we want a good
economy you want what you're not much
those aren't bad things but do we want
that revelation that you were speaking
about when the nations of the world come
to Jerusalem and say give all actually
we didn't know what the story was about
all along
do we really want it I don't know that
everybody does because I don't think
that we oh I think we're in can see it's
inconceivable that's what it means and
even for those of us that have an
inkling and we're kind of afraid of what
it would ask of us and also Israel still
you know it's it's it's still in its in
its mind a kind of small country living
on the edge and so so much of a trauma
complex here I don't again I don't blame
but it is but it is starting to leave it
is starting to leave we are overcoming
for example the difference between
Ashkenazi and Sephardi has great measure
in our lifetime left the fold and and
will be so much more able to deal
honestly with the Arabs when we actually
accept the fact that we are strong and
have an unlimited capacity and to do
from a place of strength allows you to
deal from a place of generosity of
spirit the only problem is is that when
you when you understand and I think that
this is a moment that we're coming to
worthy where the problems are no longer
existential they're not external they're
not coming at us but they're only only a
matter of
of of the way we see things absolutely
which is which is a great moment and by
the way this is not the moment that you
and I were born into no when Israel was
facing the the Yom Kippur War when the
Soviets we're placing samms in the
Syrian hands in order to knock down our
our planes and like when you add these
two prepares playing with us
yeah suddenly there's a there's a moment
where I think if this is maybe it's
being born tomorrow it might be being
born tomorrow where asteroids turns into
Jerusalem right yeah I think that the
process began and we could talk
historically all this season before we
talk about it of the Jewish story of the
Jewish story here on the Land of Israel
network network but but lug but you know
that's but but I think that you're
correct at the moment we're looking for
is the moment in leadership be it in
political leadership in spiritual
leadership in cultural leadership who's
writing the books that aren't about you
know flagellating themselves or I'm
doing my research right now that you
know the first works in which we began
to express our guilt over of what
happened in 48 to the Arabs were
happened the first time Israeli culture
had us at the breathing room after the
Sinai campaign in the 60s why because
there was like the individual began to
emerge from the collective necessity of
survival and started to feel guilty so
but we haven't reached the next stage
which is that individual is able to say
well but we have a powerful collective
if I feel guilty about some of the
consequences of surviving I'm not gonna
choose death and cease to survive how
about I choose life and say I could use
this power to fix it but fix it for real
not throw what my conscience of bone and
and etc but but actually rearrange the
world the way could be we're waiting for
that boy in for that in culture and our
literature waiting for in our political
weight we cross the board and
spiritually most importantly you know
and I just want to bring you down to
just the last thing here my kids showed
incredible amount of satis appointment
in the last day and a half because it
didn't snow they were just brokenhearted
about it I thought it start out by you
guys a little bits not a little bit that
everything they literally pray to God
uh-huh and asked him from snow
and it didn't exactly like it didn't
exactly materialize you know in in the
bone right now I was like I was like
it's something I wanted to get anger
there was like nutty fast here yeah I
told him that but but then I just think
as you were saying like they want they
want the yeah that they weren't that
great moment you know they want to see
that great moment it's so beautiful and
the snow by the way the snow is also the
snow is a taste of namana it's got this
like white you know it's like it's like
what regulus to a small child and snow
right right and you get freedom from
bondage ie school school that's amazing
we're interested in snow as a
meteorological phenomenon that's right I
mean they want to throw it one another
in the other person the whole thing so
so instead of going out there everybody
let's pray that that really together
with our good good energies out shorts
will turn into Jerusalem and the world
will see that and let's for my kids sake
sand and so many Israelis and also by
the way for the grape vines that love
snow yeah frost let's all pray for a
little bit of snow in Yerushalayim I
just had a one story from from my son
said to me last night the context is not
so important he said to me you just I
just just I just want to believe in a
Shama go under he didn't say that so I
just want to know that a sham is real
right I said okay well what would that
look like
I wanna I want to know that want to sign
just so perfect are ya Harsha and I said
to him well you need to look out the
window right and he's like what you mean
I'm like whoa but here we are we're in
it's not just me right and and um I
realized that for me I've always known
that for me that is the clearest
expression of God's existence and
creation bar none but for him it's just
reality right and so there's there's a
deeper demand a whether it's a
relationship to God that doesn't demand
signs or whether it's we're in the land
of Israel you still make alia and that's
the temple and the temple you see
miracles so I had I had that thought I
had that thought that really like what's
stayed it was for me it will only be the
temple for them right like for you was
coming to the land yeah but for them
it's coming up from the land to
temple in Yerushalayim yeah and that's
gonna bring over the via data but in
order to build that temple you also got
to have that very that--some cuz you got
to do that for God you got a house him
he doesn't need to house you he houses
you already yeah you houses you and I'll
be free of charge you know that's my
favorite phrase above all the phrases
that's like my favorite who macomb all
shallow larvae in a llama como like he
houses the world but the world does not
house him but if you want at the
greatest level of consciousness you
could build him a house in your show
but that's the this sort of paradox
embedded in macomb we're talking about a
Clea vessel that's meant to hold paradox
in a productive fashion that's precisely
what the temple is meant to be when we
say macomb hama coma is a name of god we
mean both of them we mean what you said
which is God is the place of the world
but we also mean yeah right over there
right which means what that you can have
an intimate relationship with the
infinite man that you can do that amen

[Music]
alright folks we are back on the isha
flash a show joined by our beloved maka
fletcher mackel Shalom and welcome
you say thanks so much Volkers I am back
again Boker Tov every 100 meters on
route 1 from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem has a
police officer the Old City of Jerusalem
has practically shut down and where my
mom lives in the area of the Knesset
also everything is to completely shut
down there was already police yesterday
in the evening I was there and just like
at every like you look under a tree hey
police officer you look you look you
look under like it was raining also so
everything that was covered I looked
under there was a police officer and
mushrooms and basically they were
getting rid of all parked cars there
there's like a place where I know where
it has some like old park cars got rid
of them they towed that just towed him
very simple everything that could be
used as a bomb or anything like that was
just cleared out right well and this
morning I read an article about the
various planes that the leaders came on
most of them came in on army airplanes
really like the Czech army and the
Polish and the Polish didn't come the
Czech army who else ok polish all right
let's not talk about that so much and
then and then you have you just have
people coming in on their army planes
and then you have for example a Mike
Pence is coming in I think on an army
plane I think he's coming in this
morning and Putin is coming in on an
army plane some people came it's not
gonna like get on the back of an eagle
fly no you know what the pence one I
don't remember if it was like it was uh
it was like the u.s. it was like the US
presidential plane but I think it was
more like I think I read that it was
like a like a large you know army
airplane one of the interesting ones is
that the king of Holland flew in himself
on a big Boeing cool in 737 it turns out
that for the last few years he has
hidden this he has every other week
flown what KLM flights yet out of yeah
he's like aiya this is your captain
speaking like that like that king of
Holland that's right that's right
it's this thing you know it's the thing
he wants to fire plain see this thing so
he flew in and supposedly the tower no
there's a lot of pilots that there thing
is to be a king and so like they could
totally switch well the the so-called
king of Jordan the so-called former king
of Jordan was also a flyer a pilot I
remember seeing him 11 I think he I
think he piloted when he flew into
Israel
one time he piloted it himself any case
so a lot of people are flying in
different ways some of the private jets
some one army jets and some on some are
flying themselves and some on just that
the the prime minister of Bulgaria is
flying in on a regular ll flight that's
really cool yeah from Sofia and
everybody's coming in today to remember
the Holocaust a lot of leaders and we're
talking about I think 43 world leaders
let's I want to name a few more names
well we have the big ones right now is
vice president pence right I want to get
off the the air with you and like go run
to the computer and put on a live stream
of Israeli news because from 9:00 till
like 11:00 like leaders at landing
landing landing lasers like a lot a lot
of lands including Putin what I want to
see I don't know why but I want to see
Putin we have pence policies coming us
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is taking a
break from her busy impeaching schedule
to come and remember the Holocaust or
show her face as a Democrat in Israel we
have Putin Prince Charles from England
print French president Emmanuel macron
who already managed to get into a like
like a French style angriness at Israeli
police so great what happened was is
that he was going into some church and
the police wanted to go with him or
protect them and he started yelling he's
like you know the rules you I've been
doing this for a hundred years 300 years
and and you know he can all angry and I
thought to myself great
you know I mean okay like who cares it's
almost like it's almost like do your
French thing get get angry get ticked
off but I saw already people writing
like he thinks it's a crusader
[Laughter]
you know you get spicy people come to
our country it's not the same we're not
as tolerant see this is a 75th
anniversary of Auschwitz yeah and really
we're not as tolerant of being herded
this way and that way is we used to be
right it's like people like even the
President of France has to like step
back a little bit when you're in our
country we have our sovereignty now and
we're in our own country and we got our
weapons and we we like we're not in in
the Auschwitz space anymore right this
may be in Auschwitz conference in the
75th anniversary of the liberation of
Auschwitz and certainly a lot of the
countries who are being represented had
a huge part in that and so in since we
owe our lives to a lot of these
countries and we owe in a sense also the
State of Israel to these countries
because they went and liberated what
what's that face you're making a lot of
these countries were on the wrong side
yeah you have a lot of these countries
also on the wrong side here we have for
example German president do Frank Walter
Stein Myers also coming ukrainian
president vladimir Solinsky is coming
leaders from Romania Italy Austria and
Germany in Austria come right right
Greece but sadly Greece Cyprus Albania
Croatia Georgia Bulgaria Sweden Denmark
the Czech Republic Hungary Finland
Bosnia Iceland Armenia Australia Canada
and etc right I want to mention that
that Vulgaria was very famous for
actually defending all of its Jews in
the face of the Nazi atrocities very
bravely but yesterday I got myself got
into a little tussle with the Bulgarian
politician yeah the specialist on
Twitter a special representative
Bulgaria has sent the UN Special
Representative for Middle East affairs
is a Bulgarian politician by name of
nikolai and he got in a fight with him
yesterday because he tweeted out
something that said like if israel and
Nexus any parts of Area C then this will
be a death blow to the two-state
solution will be bad for regional peace
and I wrote to him something pretty mean
I was like I checked out
rankings of your country and you are the
considered the most corrupt and least
developed one of the tied with with with
another country for at least developed
but number one most corrupt country in
the EU right so they're their national
gross national product is way below ours
their corruption is way above ours and
we have our own but they have you know
got their own problem and I'm like why
don't you go back and deal with domestic
affairs instead of telling us how to how
to like solve complicated problems and
right by dividing our land and giving it
over to the jihad like Gaza and he wrote
back to me which was fun he wrote back
to me saying yes so he wrote back to me
that that Bulgaria saved its World War
two Jews and I have a problem with the
UN then I should talk about that but not
about Bulgaria is the country and I
wrote back saying don't you think it's
fair to challenge your expertise as a
person giving us advice when you are no
experts at an economic stability and at
a nation-building state building you
know it's like you're coming from less
advanced more current country to our
country and now you're also giving us
wonderful advice what I wanted to write
by the way Malka and I didn't was like
and I was about to I was like because I
didn't I don't know his personal you
know his personal history but I was
gonna write I can understand what you're
in favor of the PA because you know
corrupt regime to another corrupt regime
you know I'm saying you guys have like a
whole you probably like got right in
there and figure it out how to make
deals with these guys and you know you
know you know each type the truth is
that that all over the world every
nation on this planet basically feels
that it has the right to tell us what's
the right thing to do with ourselves and
that's still part of like a certain
we'll call it micro victim victimization
that the world is still doing to the
Jewish people here we have the 75th
anniversary of Auschwitz and frankly I
think it's a big honor and a big
statement that a lot of these world
leaders are coming to Israel and that
isn't that is that is very very
meaningful at the same time you have the
whole world like really is trying to
push us in different directions which is
kind of crispa dick right it's like
getting involved you know the the whole
the whole like political scene in
America right now is all about how other
countries are trying to influence
America basically in a nutshell right
and did President Trump allow this to
happen intentionally or not
intentionally for his own aims whatever
but it's like here we have openly on a
like an hourly and daily basis nations
trying to affect our our national policy
and our NAT and facts on the ground in
our country right and they like they act
like this is like the most normal and
reasonable thing in the world when a lot
of us hear saying like who are you like
even if Bulgaria is the most ethical
country in the world I never personally
I don't read so much about Bulgaria in
the news right you don't hear about a
lot of Bulgarian atrocities right it
doesn't seem to me like Bulgaria is a
bad country in fact like you said the
Bulgarians saved their Jews when no one
was doing that right barely anyone was
doing that so so they they definitely
have a merit in this world and in the
next sure but uh but even still like why
why are people telling us how to run our
country still right after all this time
well everybody wants a hand in Israel
that's an ancient thing and I'll never
forget the Rashi that that explains like
why were there 31 kings that joshua
fought in land of israel 31 kings no it
says that's one way of explaining it
another way explaining is that note the
whole world wanted a stake in it they
want a part in it so it was Kings that
weren't trying to be involved in the
land of Israel if you know anything
about the history of places like
Jerusalem in the last 200 years you know
that every religious denomination tried
hard to build their church or their
mosque or their thing in Jerusalem to
have their stake to have their place
because they realized that Jerusalem is
activated again and they immediately
wanted to have their their presence
their control their their impact felt
and that there's something about the
Jewish people on the Land of Israel
which is certainly independent and we're
proud of that
but there's something about this story
that the nation's want a hand in right
and that that's something to just
there's always been Crusades right you
you can Juarez right you can in things
happen you can poopoo it and and say I
don't want any of it but like let's just
analyze it in partially which is like
that is the history of this place
something about the nation's they want a
stake in Jerusalem and I gotta tell you
Makkah and I and I said this on the last
half I think today is going to be filled
with tons of small and unimportant
News's sure first is very exciting for
the journalists right it's also
extremely like selective process by
which people are invited to different
events so all the and there are many
journalists are like very proud of being
invited and part of difference for
example do you know that the prime
minister of Finland is going to a
Finnish old-age home oh they don't for
for Finnish people nice there's all
these many implementing all kinds of
diplomatic fees everybody's meeting with
the president that's everybody but has
it Ruby rivers Andrew Berlin and some
people are meeting with with Prime
Minister Netanyahu they're all coming in
they're all coming in and having a chat
about that but then they also have
private events all kinds of pray a lot
of visiting the old city today a lot of
touring the old city people are going to
their churches their places their
mosques okay so people are going into
that by the way well though it's
supposed to be raining okay so see what
the Lord you know the the when you see
the leader of a when you see a king or a
world leader there's a blessing that you
say that's right which is that God like
shares his honour in this world sure for
the you know is there is there a
blessing for the Tsar oh my gosh you
know you should I call the show that is
there a blessing for the Tsar because I
was gonna call it when a Schwartz gave
way to Jerusalem yeah but hashtag is
there a blessing mister blessed is there
a blessing closer so I was gonna say
there's a lot of micro stories today
yeah including for example macron and
his I'm done with him now that he yelled
it is really please I'm over it but you
see I actually a I kind of
like because I thought it was funny and
good political theater and I honor
political theater you know and it wasn't
theater but okay I think it might have
been I think he faked it I think he
wanted to create a little incident to
get himself out in front you've got
everybody cares with Putin things
everybody cares what Trump thinks nobody
cares what micron thing so then in micro
came in and he shows some arrogance and
he you know got angry and I thought it
was I thought it was like clever anyway
my point too is that you know these
politicians to get on top of France is
not an easy thing either so when you see
a politician that is number one that
means that he's clever into watching is
just something to see but I'm getting to
the real point market which is who cares
this is not the real story okay not the
real story the real story is usual I'm
the real story is that these leaders
from all over the world some who were
good to the Jews others that were bad to
the Jews are coming to Jerusalem today
ostensibly to remember Ashwin's but
that's not the story the story is
they've come to Jerusalem today to say
the following the God of Israel took the
Jewish people out of the hell of the of
the Holocaust out of the hell of a switz
and brought them to your shall I mean
rebuilt Jewish life as was promised in
the Bible that is what we're gonna see
it they're gonna see you're definitely
gonna drive through whether they're
gonna say it or not say it they're
definitely gonna see it they're gonna
drive through and they're gonna be like
this is so this is Jerusalem right
exactly and you know we read an ASA
lamentations about how the the people
will look at Jerusalem and be like this
is the city that was called like I
forget what they got what it's called
exactly like a city that was called like
greatest in the world something like
that right and but now I think there's
gonna be a little bit of a Tico and
there gonna be a little bit of a fixing
I mean Jerusalem still has a ways to go
and we don't have our temple and we we
don't have we haven't signed and sealed
Jerusalem yet MOCA
I was listening to the radio but they're
gonna see they're gonna see that
Jerusalem is is a beautiful flourishing
city full of Jews and full and and
growing in and shining mister scolar
it's it's the light of the world yeah
it's a Russia alum it's like
anyway the it's the light of the world
and all these great leaders are coming
to see it and and it's like it's it's a
perfect day it's a prophetic day in
Jerusalem it's a day of great prophecies
it's a it's a day of you know and and I
I refuse to let the smallness be the the
topic of for sure I refuse to write this
this you know you know you know how you
have you know in politics you have these
like lawyers and these are legal
advisors and they make politics and
leadership into like is it legal isn't
that league on there and you have these
bureaucrats and what's called petty
tyrants you know you know and I refuse
to let the press take away the meaning
of today right turn it into right there
you know you know look at what he said
he said this is just forget it and even
that girl nama who's afar who's in
prison and then in in in the in in
Russia and the Putin's even that which
is a fine issue that I'm sorry that is
not that is not the big story here
that's not the big story the big story
is that 75 years after Auschwitz session
was rebuilt your shall I'm and he's
bringing the people home and the world
is coming to bow their heads in front of
the God of Israel that's what it's
really about and they could talk about
Auschwitz and it was bad you know what
happened with what part they had it's
not about you it's not even about Israel
I'm sorry it's not even about the it's
not even about the State of Israel and
its successes and you know it's about
it's about the story the miraculous
unbelievable unspeakable story that God
what God has done that's what this thing
is about and I wish I wish people would
sense that and and get a little bit
higher than the low you know places you
know a little bit more regal and see
what this is about I wish they would but
you know it even in the absence of that
it is what it is you can't take away the
the I'm sorry there's a word in Russian
that is just God does just business you
know like like like a kind of like glory
and honor you know that you know I
hi thing you know I mean I imagine see
right now a lofty thing and and and and
III wish people wouldn't just see the
the macarons of this world you know I
mean and I got blessed I'm I know I'm
telling you I don't even care that he
did this thing I was funny to me but
it's but it's nothing it's nothing
compared to this great day and this is
an honor a kings and presidents and
prime ministers are coming to Jerusalem
who are they honoring president Reuven
Rivlin Prime Minister good to notice for
for a second to back back up into the
bureaucratic element that you said we
shouldn't talk about it is interesting
to note that this conference is not
happening in Tel Aviv right and this is
kind of a an atmosphere which Israel has
fought very hard for right absolutely
which is to create Jerusalem as the
center not Tel Aviv is absolutely and
the Prime Minister of Israel United
States had a big part in that it did the
Prime Minister of Israel needs to get a
lot of credit for that and in his his
standing on the world stage no doubt you
know I'm not taking away the honor from
these people but just for a second
ladies and gentlemen just for a second
snap out of it you know snap out of the
micro politics and the impeachments and
the trials in the and and the whose
testimony is accepted in all this you
know our lowly crud that we deal with
you know and for a second for a second
realize that the majesty of what a Shem
is has done in this world and it's and
it's it's impossible like either one of
the reasons why people don't speak about
it is because it's impossible to grasp
the only reason I can speak about it is
because I accept that it's impossible to
grasp and that's what I recommend other
people do as well it's like it's it's
not to say here's what happened it's not
to own it it's just to be like awed by
God right awed by what what what he had
what what he has done and and and moved
and moved and and and and and it's not a
coincidence that it's this week's Torah
portion Viera which lays out the whole
plan that I remember the the the oaths
that I gave to the forefathers and I
will bring them back to their lands and
you know no no no and gather them and
and the whole thing and I'll bring them
up and it's an eternal inheritance
that's that's what today's about and I
just I really rather that people would
you know I don't know anyway I'm looking
forward to I'm looking forward to 8 p.m.
tonight I have a date with you you deal
with the kids what are we gonna do we're
watching the news tonight 8 p.m.
that'll be fun we're watching the
Israeli news maybe some popcorn I want
the kids yes Oh prepare that I want that
hits to see all these kings coming in
good cause I want them I want them to
see it I want them to feel it and I want
that and by the way I want to tell you I
was in Jerusalem to sing the
preparations yesterday I'll tell you
what maybe the press is lowly and all
that but Jerusalem was looking majestic
Wow good for you - yes Wow you know I
mean and it's you need to read Isaiah a
little bit you need to read you know you
need to read the great prophets to see
what's happening right now to feel that
because that's the level that it's at
that's the level that it was it was
interesting that you also mentioned the
Book of Lamentations it's like it you
know at the end right at the end like
like we read lamentations in
announcements for for what was happening
for God's sakes your your grandparents
are survivors you know I mean you're a
pro you you you are I'm a product of the
liberation about you you are out roots
to Jerusalem you Wow you are you are
your outfits to Jerusalem and it's just
like I never thought of it that way
anyway you sure it's okay do you need
its issue yeah a little bit
anyway all right all right so great
stuff it's great thank God we have this
kind of thing to cry about right that's
right all right all right folks you are
listening to the each I flash to show
Michael I sure want to thank you so much
for joining me and celebrating with me
this great day and of course we remember
the Six Million as well and their and
their their murder and their honor
there's no survivors alive today
like your grandma my grandmother you got
to show them the love they really you
know Mike our kids each I asked me
yesterday
Eleazar asked he's like who was the
worst like person in Jewish history who
was considered like the worst person and
it was not non Jew like the worst human
being yeah like who is the who was
considered like the most evil guy yeah
the most bad guy
Titus and I was like well that we had
Nobu hot nets are right who dispersed
the Jews and destroyed it - sure and you
had I was like I was like well leaders
Hitler right
there's Titus of Rome Titus of robe but
then I thought to myself who is the
worst I guess I don't know Hitler when
you're facing oh yeah I think Hitler was
the worst when you're facing an Arab an
Arab jihadist riot that's destroying
your family and coming into your house
and killing yes you know killing parents
in front of children at that moment that
person sores yes but but the point that
I really want to make the point that I
was was aiming at was that I thought
about it now I'm not such a historian
right so I don't know all the
intricacies but when you think about the
the aims I mean except for maybe Hammad
it could be that Haman was the worst
person in history because he really had
a plan to destroy all the Jews but aside
from him it's really Hitler right and
it's like we actually we have people in
our lives who came in contact directly
or indirectly with the worst person in
the history of the world and it's like
you think about the magnitude of what
the Holocaust was and therefore what
outch wits was and that we really come
out of that it's like like you're saying
from Auschwitz to Jerusalem it's like
really from the the worst like capital T
the worst to liberation to redemption to
the redemption process for sure and you
know when when Eleazar asked me that I
was like I kind of realized the the
proximity the close proximity we have
and we had to like the worst evil ever
in the history of the world and and to
see from that the great rebirth is so
I'm so so improbably so but it's also so
literary yeah here for you you maka are
from Auschwitz to Jerusalem really
