everybody
love me because
hey good day everybody welcome back uh
it's been several weeks because of the
high holidays uh but uh we're so glad to
be back with beyond the seven live from
Jerusalem with Rabbi Aaron David Poston
uh I certainly miss this gentleman but I
you can always catch his wonderful
messages on his uh uh YouTube site ibane
uh
um yeah so check that out he's always
got lots of great messages uh himself
along with uh Rabbi yitzek bridowitz uh
who we all enjoy but I'm so glad to be
back and back into this uh book with
Rabbi Poston uh so let's just jump right
in and see how the rabbi is doing today
Shalom Rabbi uh you're live on the air
and I've got to Center you
um
would you like me to move my camera or
you wouldn't want to censor me
well uh yeah Skype updates and these
things are always
um always uh
anyway it's over everybody
I don't know if you can see me you want
me to just move my camera I can move my
camera nope you're good to go you're
you're live I got you there okay
I'm gonna turn it over to you rabbi
great good to be back shavuotov everyone
um we are still Baruch Hashem in the
tomorrow devorah written by the ramosa
cordavero uh 500 years ago this is
dealing with the 13 attributes of Mercy
the attributes of compassion
and I just want to reiterate people can
go back to even the beginning of beyond
the seven series we covered the general
concept what is
it mean Beyond right now anyway that yes
there are seven Primal principles and
that all of humanity really is obligated
and must follow it would be great if
they understood that the Torah was from
heaven from Hashem and was given to the
Jewish people this seems to be a uh
I don't even know the word
fundamental underlying principle
and so you can go back and read all
about it but beyond the seven the reason
we called it beyond the seven is that
any Mitzvahs that are logical or ethical
are also obligatory for mankind and one
should
not trying to tell you what you have to
do but if you're going to follow you
might as well know what they are and
learn all about them and
you know logical and ethical uh
definitely apply there's plenty to learn
about right if you dedicate a lot of
time into the seven and you master them
there's no reason
why you shouldn't expand to the ethical
and the logical as well because they're
also obligatory they're connected for
sure that at the footing before you make
any kind of decision that you want to
let's say keep kosher or you know I
don't even know what other missions you
may want to do
um but bottom line are that's the
foundation
so getting started with the foundation I
would suggest not just my classes
there's plenty of other classes
um that uh other rabbis you can tune
into just to get a better a much better
idea of what this uh life is all about
and to get as much out of it as you
possibly can because maybe it's true
maybe it's not you only live once well
delicious stuff oh we have to worry
about is the is this world right now
that we're in
and uh that we will earn there's a
concept called reward and Punishment
this is one of the 13 principles of our
faith and therefore
what this class tonight especially is
going to deal with uh reward and
Punishment to a certain extent the
eighth attribute
of the 13 attributes emergency in mija
now we're dealing with chapter seven
although that's in the prophets
the prophets never make up anything new
it's impossible they go they're only
there to explain basically all the
prophets it's rabbinic Judaism you may
say oh I don't know if you're coming
from that world but where there are
certain uh people that they don't
understand purely out of ignorance but
they say we don't like or appreciate
what they call rabbinic Judaism I don't
like the term either I just don't like
the term
but all the prophets they were all
rabbis and their
I call it promoting uh rabbinic Judaism
I mean it is what we call the Tanakh you
guys believe in the Bible the scripture
guess what after the five books it's all
rabbinic
um so the rabbis are there to explain
what the five books are all about the
prophets were there to guide us back
onto the right path that path that was
revealed to us at Mount Sinai 3300 years
ago
and so when we hear about the 13
attributes of Mercy in Micah chapter 7
it's basically an explanation although
it's still hidden and that's why we're
here tonight to discuss this even
further I know that I'm saying tonight
it's this is uh you know recorded it
could be any time you're listening to it
and I know that somewhere in the world
like somewhere in Canada it's not
exactly night but who knows
where you are and when you are okay okay
so the the book of my left over my left
shoulder that's the book that we're
using it's uh has an English translation
as well and a lot of explanations
so with that
um introduction let's begin the title is
called he pres he suppresses our sins
okay so I think we just like jump into
it
Hashem behaves and others how do we even
know who Hashem is other than his
behavior he he has attributes we can
never really fully know the infinite but
this world that we're in we can observe
we can feel we can experience and the
Torah itself expresses how Hashem
actually behaves
that he sowed
um
this is the idea that we're going to
enter what does it mean this is the
secret of suppression of sin
so with I mentioned in the beginning
we're going to talk about reward and
Punishment so sin gets punished Mitzvahs
get rewarded okay that's pretty simple
math however this is unlike any other
math because we're not going to do
pluses and minuses in other words we're
not going to subtract the sins from the
Mitzvahs that want occurs okay and we're
we're going to say that there's reward
for what you did positively and
unfortunately however you want to look
at it's a tikkun it's a fixing it's a
remedy
uh there is what we call punishment for
the averoad for the sins that we do
Allah
that this concept is that the Mitzvah
itself when we do a positive Act
describe Natori that's what the Mitzvah
is
uh some translate the word Mitzvah as
law I really don't like that even the
word command
you know we can but it really means an
opportunity to bond with your creator
with your father in Heaven and when you
do this act it
ascends
meaning that it's infinite the re the
missions are not going to be erased or
suppressed even though we're not yet
there we're just talking about he
suppresses the sins but the mitches he
won't
so they they ascend to the highest place
to the inner sanctum so to speak where
Hashem resides as we'll soon see some of
the wording
attacks
imamish breaks forth and it's it ascends
without any limit because the myth
itself as we will see uh Dan I don't
know if I you got that um
code that I sent you by Skype
yeah not now we're not going to put it
up yet but I I want to yeah no Rabbi I'm
sorry once uh our the way our our phone
call connected here it it put your your
picture over it I was just about to
download it when you you called me in
and uh so I I haven't gotten it I think
I could do it by WhatsApp right now let
me just see if you have that
uh I don't know if my whatsapp's
connected
but
okay anyway I just sent it by WhatsApp
um okay let's continue because we're
going to use a a code called
just to show you the the depth of the
the Mitzvah even the word Mitzvah and
how it ascends to Hashem South
um
I was gonna say let's do it now but
let's just call it off let's just get
the idea that the Mitzvah itself arises
in a sense to to uh the most intimate
place of Hashem himself however the sins
but the sin let's call it negative
energy that are created by our actions
they cannot enter into the most intimate
in inner sanctum where Hashem resides uh
God forbid because for sure
but rather there's this inhibit
inhibition there's this it inhibits
there's a squashing there's a
suppressing Hashem does that they will
not enter now here's a verse in Psalms
chapter 5 verse 5. it says
let's see the whole verse I said it's
chapter 5 verse 5.
for you are not a God who desires
wickedness
no evil sojourns with you
so in the Hebrew
it says
Russia God does not desire this negative
or negativity it's not his interest
and sorry right
but rather no evil sojourns with you
interesting with the uh Rashi okay I
have this Cypher uh I can put up on the
screen hold off on that we're going to
get to it Shirley
when in the art scroll edition of this
verse tonight in Psalms
that no evil sojourns with you this
verse
introduces a major theme of Torah belief
so I think it's worthwhile spending a
little bit of time here
where there is godliness there can be no
evil we have this concept that no evil
is drawn down from heaven
we discuss blessings and curses before
basically there's this constant flow of
goodness
and when we perceive evil because
there's a stoppage there's a blockage
there's a a
blockage in that flow of that goodness
we'll call the lack of goodness so we
perceive that as evil but it's not evil
that's actually emanating from himself
okay very important Concept in Judaism
so the juxtaposition of the two
good impossibility which we're going to
get into the idea of Hashem the the
Mitzvahs or the energy that was produced
by doing the misses enters into a
closeness with God but the negativity
does not
so nothing evil can emanate from God who
is the source of pure good
evil begins when men seek to limit God's
fear of influence when men attempt to
push God out of their lives they invite
Misfortune to enter for an absence of
God is synonymous with misery I hope
this is penetrating
everyone who's listening their hearts
their ears theirs their mind
this may be compared to an engineer who
constructed a splendid Highway smooth
straight and completely unobstructed he
protected it he protected it by lining
the roadside with offensive Thorns call
that a Gather High that's in Hebrew but
it's basically put in the you know in in
modern day you have uh steel or iron
railings you don't want to fall off down
down to the ravine
but anyway so there's a road sign you're
walking along you're riding along and
you have this guard rails fence of
thorns if the foolish traveler insists
on straying or ensnares himself in the
thorns
is the Builder the road Builder to blame
of course not so it's self-inflicted
let's say
um the Melbourne agrees that this verse
introduces a pillar of belief of a
pillar of Torah belief
okay this is
um
I'll just read the rest however he
explains this verse and those that
follow differently David is drawing a
distinction between the one true and
perfect God and the multiple deities of
Mythology many of whom uh represented
the worst character traits okay so you
can look at the Malbone for more detail
but this idea is the first verse that
the that the remark brings in this idea
that Hashem suppresses them because he's
not interested in them and they cannot
dwell uh close to him so the idea that
we were the idea we're going to flesh
out is that
one cannot just say okay I did 30
Mitzvahs or four let's use an example
he's going to give 40 Mitzvahs 40
positive acts and I did a few let's say
10 negative things so I don't have to
worry I have 30 right if you deduct the
10 negative
right you deduct the 10 of the positive
against 10 negative so I'm even like I
don't have to worry so much doesn't work
like that okay let's go into the idea
here we'll meet Tom Zep there is an idea
Scar mits the Baha'i amaleka in
gamarkadush and it mentions that there
is no reward in this world I know that
the Torah is full of what seems to be
reward in this word it's telling you
this reward and Punishment you know if
you do the right thing it's going to
rain in its time and the
okay but we're really talking about the
future what we call Olam Haba
or the time of the Messiah so I do want
to read from you not the gamarkadushan
but there's another gemara in
um in gumar brachos that's 34b
that mentions a interesting mock Locust
who's greater someone who's a balachuva
or someone who's completely righteous
either someone who sinned and came back
to the right path or someone who was who
never sinned and it's a very interesting
discussion what kind of reward is
awaiting for which one
the Gamora doesn't actually conclude but
throughout Jewish history liturgy uh it
seems as if the the balchuva wins but
that's not the important part yeah the
rambam the rambam in the eight chapters
also discusses the difference between an
eminent person he he calls in and one
who struggles with his uh uh
difficulties and uh uh yeah the one who
struggles is definitely seen as higher
than uh somebody who's considered an
eminent person they're just not meant to
any certain yeah
so basically there's an idea so the
profits themselves you guys all have the
the Bible the Tanakh right you're
looking at it
and you hear about all these these
rewards who are they for so the Gamora
actually tells us that besides the
intricacies of this discussion you know
what kind of person this is whether they
were righteous their whole lives or they
they sinned and they came back a piece
of the gomor explains here in the name
the son of ABBA said in the name of
ribioconine all of the prophets all of
them meaning without exception they only
prophesied about the times of the
mashiach
but the world to come they didn't even
speak about why because it's
Indescribable it's it's so much greater
than what we will experience in the
times of the Messiah now the times of
the Messiah is in this world this is a
worldly event
I know maybe people haven't cropped that
yet but I haven't totally understood
that point it's the world will probably
be somewhat different it may be a lot
different but it's at least in this
physical world
and so when they prophesied about all
these really delicious beautiful uh
enjoyment of the basically
um this closeness to God and the
pleasure that one would get from this
basking in the in the
in the in The Godly light so that no
they never even talked about that
because of a verse that we'll find in
in Isaiah 64 verse 3.
um and whereof no one had ever heard had
ever perceived by ear no I had ever seen
a god besides you to form for him who
hoped for him so in other words for all
those who are looking forward looking
forward to the coming of the Messiah
looking forward by doing Mitzvahs to a
relationship with Hashem by every
positive act that you do by being kind
to people right by being ethical so
you'll you'll get all this kind all this
reward but no I meaning not even the
prophets have ever seen it to be able to
describe it it's not describable
unbelievable now Rashi says something
awesome here amazing
um where no one had ever heard like
those awesome Deeds performed for one of
all the nations before that no I had
ever seen another God besides you that
the God would do for him who hoped for
him what you did for him who hope for
you that's a beautiful explanation and
we have no one that no one ever heard
another explanation like those awesome
Deeds performed for one of all the
nations before that neither had an I
seen God before your eyes
what he would do for the one who hoped
in him obviously these are the people
who are doing the misses because God
commanded them again
besides the seven any Mitzvahs that are
logical and ethical
the end of Rashi mentions about this
idea
that God would perform miracles for
whoever hoped in him
and at the end he says this gumar here
in Brothers 34A none of the prophets
prophesied except regarding the
Messianic era
but the world to come no one has ever
described nobody was ever able to the
prophets were not talking about that no
Prophet ever saw what the Holy One
blessed but he will do for him who hopes
for him except for your eyes o God and
that is what the that's what the verse
is referring to in Isaiah 64 3. so
bottom line is when we talk about
mitzvahs with and maybe this is the time
to bring up the atbash cipher
uh we're talking about
it's infinite it's a it's going to be
rewarded in such a great way
that you cannot describe it it actually
I don't know if the word
it it's pure goodness so it it
melds it it it it's one with Hashem
let's say the mitzvitz up now I want to
prove that through the Akbar Cipher
basically when you look at this I'll
just give a background what it is it's
an ancient code you can look it up a t b
a s h
look it up on Wikipedia it explains that
armies in even modern day armies use
this code with every alphabet they use
but it's based on the ancient Hebrew
alphabet where the a or the olive would
be replaced or let's say in the code
itself with the last letter a tough
okay so you look on the I don't know if
you have it up if you
okay so you see on the far right the top
letter that's the first letter of the
alphabet you have a tough underneath it
the BET and then you have a shin
underneath it so it's called at bash
it's like a z right b-y and on and on
and on so if you look the the word
Mitzvah itself is
the last two letters of the word mitzvah
and that is the last two letters of
God's Own Name
now what about the unit in the beginning
so we said Mitzvah is
so look under in the Top Line the tenth
letters are good right underneath it is
the mem
okay and then if you go along I think
it's the fifth letter from the end on
the from the left you have it Sadiq and
uh the it's really a fifth letter from
the end on the next line down is a hey
so you have the you're in the hey is a
called a mirror right it's like a mirror
or reverse mirror if you want to say the
yur in the hey is
embedded
I don't know another another word to to
say but it's like a hinted at it's it's
seen if you can look at the the letters
memphotic valve hey as really a reversal
of the memsatic being yudhay connecting
with the last two letters which are
already part of the word Mitzvah with
above hay so I hope that was I hope that
was clear
um how in a certain sense the mitzvah
it when you do the midst of properly
knowing that it's a Godly command that
it's um it's connecting back up back
into uh the the closeness with Hashem
okay
so the last thing we said was in this
world there there is no reward the
reward is stored away for you in the
world to come so the remark continues
nipnay shahim the fun of your spot
because they are so close to Hashem
they're placed into his immediate
um
and proximity but that means they're not
in the physical world
they're not of the physical nature
how else how are you going to be repaid
right reward for something that you
would it's pure spirit and it's going
into the spiritual world how would you
expect to be paid in the physical world
for it you wouldn't it's impossible now
there are possibilities I should say
there are crumbs there are fruits that
when we spend money when we're happy
doing it when we're putting in effort to
do the misses there will be re
um crumbs fruits there will be extras
that we could experience in this world
there's 26 specific hacks we could do in
order to receive the crumbs but not the
Karen not the main
capital of the reward that remains in
the world to come
and I think I have another mission in
perkiavo to talk about
and no not yet do it Rabbi yeah yeah
um you and I once discussed because I'd
first heard this concept uh for Rabbi
breidowicz mentioned at one time we
discussed before uh Dira but talked on
him the concept of Dira but talk to him
is that something that brings us down or
no
I'm not sure of the context but we're
talking about how maybe Hashem
dwells in this world I think when you
say deer attacked her name it's not
referring to the reward in this world
so maybe we'll leave that question when
we have
time to discuss yeah when it's more
appropriate sure that's more of uh the
temple I might as well just discuss a
little bit the temple itself obviously
does not contain God
in fact when the command was brought
down by God again command the Mitzvah to
uh build a house so he says I'm going to
live in you he doesn't think I'm going
to live in it
interestingly enough and this is another
thing that for the non-jews
to grasp
that the Jewish people and really
anybody could right potentially uh
become
Jewish let's just say that the Jewish
people are the holy ones or the mikdash
that Hashem will dwell in you the Jewish
people and um a non-jew can actually
change his Mazel and
um
come really close to that point even
without converting obviously with
conversion there's a whole
endless possibility of closeness to
Hashem
but the truth is even a non-jew can be
considered a coincidence could be
considered like a holy of holies when
they dedicate themselves to learning the
seven Mitzvahs and Beyond right as we
discussed and the ethical and logical
Mitzvahs and they can still get rewards
for doing additional Mitzvahs as well
but again I say stick to the stick to
the foundations first for many years
before advancing because there's so much
it's endless how much you can learn just
on those Mitzvahs alone
okay
and we were just in this idea asking the
question
is
how can they physical how can a
spiritual reward ever be
um you know given in this world Ray Cola
Allah
there's like no way you can compare all
the pleasures that one can get into this
world is not even equal to the rewards
for doing one Mitzvah in the world to
come the right there's so much more
satisfaction and this is not God forbid
like you know the Muslims talk about 70
virgins or anything like that we're
talking about a closeness with a Shem
which is almost impossible to describe
but melding right a mind meld imagine
right so you can get a taste of that in
this world when you're learning Torah
when you're involved in in Mitzvahs that
is the closest thing you can get and I
don't mean any drugs God forbid that's
all counterfeit the real stuff is uh a
touch just to touch the world to come
through doing the Mitzvah because that's
where that's where the the reward is
waiting for you
okay so the next paragraph will meet
Tom's at low yukak it's in Deuteronomy
chapter 10 verse 17.
have it here yeah
so let's just take it this verse and try
to decipher what does it mean for the
Lord your God is God of gods and the
lord of the Lords
now it says he is um he's great
uh mighty and awesome God Raquel hagidol
Aggie board
hey Mommy she's awesome
so the end of the verse mentions that he
does not show favor and normally take a
bribe this is key to try to understand
this idea of he suppresses our sins
so what would you what is
a bribe
wait no I mean come on hashem's going to
take your money he prints the money I
mean it's it's I'm not saying it's
worthless to him he has no use there's
nothing he could do with your money no
matter how much money you throw at him
so it can't mean
it can't mean money
it can't be but what does it mean
so
it has to mean what we're about to say
and I'm just trying to remember where I
have all of my
notes Here I think we will um he says of
a Mitzvah right the first thing he
introduces amidstv so what's the analogy
hamasha was that he gives us an analogy
and we'll discuss this
God does not say keep this in mind
right what someone's going to perform 10
positive acts and 10 Negative X
God does not say this you know I'll just
make a new calculation and I see this
guy as 40 positive acts 10 Negative X
I'll just right that's a bribe we're
bribing him with mitzviz
I'm gonna bribe him with Mitzvahs
doesn't work
we're meaning he's not going to read
he's not going to deduct and erase the
Mitzvahs the negative of arrows sins
because uh it's parallel to x amount of
mitzvahs
you will get rewards for the missus
and he's not isn't that aggressive isn't
that unbelievable Mercy that he's not
going to deduct because he not that he
can't nothing but it's already infinite
it's already Hashem himself and there's
no deduction from that this is
unbelievable kindness that he won't do
it
he won't make but an Earthly king would
right maybe
come or even someone who will consider
to be perfectly uh righteous
let's say he did one negative thing in
his life
it's devastating it's horrible it's as
if he even birthed the entire Torah
which is horrible
but guess what
he will have to pay we spoke in the very
beginning there's reward and Punishment
every Jew knows you do something
negative you got to do chuva you don't
do chuva you have to pay for it right
you'll you'll end up suffering
okay in this world we call it you surim
we call it suffering in this world or
God forbid even worse uh through death
and after death
you have to pay it
so in a certain sense isn't this I
understand sounds Twisted I did a sin I
gotta pay for it well you can do true
um truth is the the nicest Avenue okay
you can repent
if you don't repent you have to pay
vac
so in the end of the day he's not going
to deduct that negative act against all
the any of the positive acts you did the
positive acts you will get the reward
for but at the same time that's what we
call Purgatory or the some call it
translated as hell
um but for us it's not Eternal it's
painful but it's short-lived and it's
necessary and you will receive all the
rewards for all the Mitzvahs and no
Mitzvahs ever canceled
I heard YY Jacobson give an analogy we
all live in this world right so let's
say we have a boss or let's say you are
the boss either way look at it like this
the boss tells his employee I I want you
to do these
um
gives them a list this is what I need
you to do there's a hundred things on
the list
so but he doesn't want him to do
anything else just these hundred things
and the guy does 10 things
that the boy so he did 90 things that
the boss wanted him to do but he did 10
things the boss told him not to do and
don't do I mean that could be damaging
to the company I mean it's a waste he's
going to pay for it the boss is going to
pay the whole thing doesn't make sense
that what are you going to say the
Bull's gonna say oh well
um so I'll just pay you for nine you
know I asked you to do a hundred things
I needed them done so we're gonna do
take off 10 and just forget it and call
it a day and say okay so you know you
did 80 of the things or 90 of the things
out of 100 and no you there are
consequences there are consequences so
so and that's in the Earthly in the
Earthly realm but in hashem's world he
suppresses he suppresses those sins and
we're going to talk about that a little
bit further
Hine
it's unbelievable kindness that Hashem
does
that he'll behave with the pious people
with the righteous people this way
he's not going to deduct he won't remove
all the misses he wants you to a Mitzvah
that's unbelievable and it won't be
erased isn't that amazing
so they're considered very important
misalos ad lifanovius Barack they go all
the way up to where he dwells
how would he ever
deduct them or subtract them on account
of sin
this whole idea of getting reward like
I'm going to use punishment he says
reward for the meaning the payment for
the sin is a part of what we call
gehennam let's just call Purgatory it's
called what it is
and this is a very degrading and
um what's the word he uses here
despicable
it's coming from a very despicable place
but it doesn't go up it doesn't Blossom
and Ascend like the misters do but the
Mitzvah
but the reward for the Mitzvahs is very
honorable the reward or the payment for
the sin is not honorable at all to the
opposite
so what is the reward for doing the cut
the the proper Act
Ive this is the how does he translate
here the radiance of the shrina the ziv
the shine of God's presence
and you there's totally separate Realms
of existence it's it's not how do I
it's not counter one for the other
they're separate accounts and keep that
in mind
Hashem will collect and therefore punish
the person for the sins let's call it
therapeutic uh therapy
um it's for our own good
Colin mitzvos and he will pay uh a good
return a good reward for the the
positive acts for the missiles that we
do
so the point being wholeness right
Hashem is is commanded the ultimates was
for completeness uh uh wholeness of the
person yes yeah but the
the the value of the Mitzvah is just
absolutely unbelievable that we cannot
even fathom I know I only gave you like
a glimpse of the word Mitzvah but and
tried to describe how it enters his
whatever that is his proximity his
domain right and called inner sanctum
whereas he suppresses the sins data
there's no evil that will dwell with him
it doesn't go there at all but it's not
wiped out until you do chuva and chuva
is a possibility trust me for non-jews
as well okay we talked about this a
little bit somebody mentioned I'm not
going to mention the whole uh scoop but
basically that there is no true love by
non-jews that's not accepted by Hashem
it's I can't say it's not true what I
will say is there are different levels
okay it is true that truva is accepted
that's what is true is it absolutely
accepted no there's different levels
okay but there is truva by non-jews as
well it's an absolute uh truth that
there is and that's the prevailing
understanding in Judaism you don't have
to be a Jew to get to heaven right that
your punishment will be wiped out
if you do shuva and that's the main
thing
okay so the last
um last line on this page anyway it's
the next paragraph
now we're going to deal with this again
this idea of he suppresses our sins
again these are totally different
accounts and the uh the sins do not
Prevail they don't
um they don't have the same impact that
the positive misses have the positive
mixes are forever
Eternal it's the God's name is within
the whole act and you're bringing
godliness into the world and you're
bringing the physical world into a Godly
sphere
but the the the averos can be wiped out
yes
when it comes to sin
when it sorry yeah but when it comes to
sin he um suppresses them and he and
they will not enter and Ascend to his um
his Sanctum
now it's true that he has absolute
knowledge and he knows everything what a
person does we speak about Russia Yom
Kippur I mean he examines all of our
Deeds he examines our most inner
thoughts he examines within our organs
and what they produce in terms of
desires and whatnot right even if you
never spoke it out even though even if
you didn't act it out Hashem knows
everything whether good or bad what
we're thinking
nevertheless when it comes to all the
positive thinking suppresses them but
it ascends to the highest place it
Blossom it breaks forth
to the highest limits which means
unlimited the nikla Mitzvah but mitzvah
and this includes every Mitzvah and what
ends up happening is nivna by the way
you bun it's the same word you're
basically building from an opinion
let's call it a palace in the world to
come obviously it's not a physical
Palace but every mix that you do it's
like a brick in the wall you're a brick
in the in the structure this Palace this
edifice that you will end up living and
experiencing for eternity so it's a
Divine structure or let's say he uses
the term like clothing
a garment of Honor
so it's a spiritual structure and a
garment of honor and that is going to be
the reward for the mitzes the sins are
can be we'll call temporary you know
they're not forever I know there's other
religions that have a uh let's say a
different mindset about that avonos
ain't lamb sagula Zoo so the the sins
don't have this ability they just don't
have it
there is no let's say success it doesn't
have the the success record of of
lasting for eternity or even ascending
and coming close to Hashem Lo yikanime
has no ability to enter inside you have
a question at this point or
okay
now one of the key things that we're
doing with this book is learning how to
apply God's attributes we have a Mitzvah
to imitate Hashem to follow in his ways
you can go back to the earlier
um
uh
classes to understand what that means
but this is a
obligation
that we are supposed to imitate Hashem
and follow in his ways I'm just looking
up ahead then you know okay so how do we
apply it how do we make this applicable
I did discuss this idea of a zamra right
to look at the positive in other people
and know that they must have done
something good in their life so let's
say you actually know people they did
good by you for many many years many
seasons but all of a suddenly the one
thing to you and what are you gonna do
hate him forever you're gonna like
that's gonna
remember what we just discussed it
doesn't cancel out any of the Good Deeds
so too this is how it works in the
shem's eyes this is how you should look
this person did good by you then all of
a sudden he she did something that you
would think I don't know unforgivable I
mean look if it's really unforgivable
really disaster I get it okay but for
the most part the person messed up they
did something we're not going to cancel
it out you're going to continue to focus
on the good and you're going to suppress
uh the negativity
so let's read it
that this character trait we just
described suppressing the sins which God
would do for us we do we're obligated we
need to do this when we're involved with
other people
don't subdue the goodness that your
friend did to you the yes
and only remember the bad that he did to
you or she did to you
but the opposite I want to drill this in
we want to be like Hashem Hashem wants
us to be refined like him and he gave us
the instruction manual it's called the
Torah and we have the 13 attributes of
Mercy 13 attributes of compassion and
we're supposed to incorporate that into
our lives first of all it's for a good
healthy spiritual life I mean it's going
to benefit you but we also discussed the
idea it brings it into the world you
want more compassion in the world
there's a flow there's a uh a stream of
compassion that you can open up by
practicing these attributes
so he tells you
rather suppress that evil that you're
looking at in the other person
forget about it forget about it
push it aside abandon it belong
and don't allow that evil to dwell maybe
like within you how does he translate
yeah
don't let the evil dwell with your
person meaning don't let it dwell within
you because you basically have kidnapped
uh the evil it's like you know it's in
you
um I just skipped to a verse
in Leviticus chapter 19
17 and 18.
just to bring this uh point to uh
have it here yeah
I want to take both verses because it's
important even though the the latter
verse talks about love your neighbor as
yourself but how do you reach that point
says in verse 17 you shall not hate your
brother in your heart lot
don't hate your brother in your heart
now you do have to confront evil
how do you do it first of all you have
to do with love and I'll prove that in a
second you have to do it with the
concern that the person is doing
something that's damaging in the South
and others and you want to
guide him or bring him back to the right
path by not continuing to do this who's
he going to listen to someone is
screaming and yelling or someone who he
knows right the heart speaks to the
heart he knows that you care about him
you know he knows hopefully that you
you know how do I express this
well he knows that you care that's the
first thing and that you're not doing
this out of resentment or grudging
begrudgingly listen to the listen to the
rest of the verse
um you shall surely rebuke your fellow
of hate so you don't bear sin on his
account
you shall not take revenge he can feel
it if you have Hate in Your Heart
I'll just kick back and rebel worse will
otitor is and don't hold a grudge either
against the members of your people
and how does this verse send me after
uh
but rather you should love your neighbor
as yourself I believe your God
um by the way just what is the
difference between a revenge and a
grudge because they are different
revenge is where you ask
um let's say for example
your neighbor says lend me your I don't
know lend me your your your have your
hammer and you say no
so then the next day you go to him and
say lend me your ax
and he says you know I'm not going to
lend it to you because you didn't lend
it to me so that's called Revenge what
about a grudge so it's almost the same
case but the second time you come to me
say I'm going to lend you mine I'm not
going to be like you so that's holding a
grudge first is Revenge you're holding
back what he needs and you say I'm not
going to be like you I'm not giving it
to you the other way is I'm holding a
grudge oh I'm going to give it to you
but I'm not going to be like you this
low-life person that I think you are
so this is a problem with you with right
we we focus on the negative so don't
hold the grudge it's going to kill you
it's going to eat you alive don't have
this revenge of the grudge but rather
love your neighbor as yourself
so how does he end this last paragraph
um where did I leave off I'm sorry I
left off somewhere uh two lines up from
the second to the list it's the not the
last paragraph but the one before see I
told you this is
you should always have the goodness in
front of you whatever you know you can
look at remember we're talking about the
zamra azamra will
you're gonna say to yourself I know this
person when he was five years old four
years old he must have been a good
person something happened I'm going to
look really deep and try to find that
godliness that goodness that was inside
of him way back then or maybe he's still
kind to his parents maybe he's still
kind to his wife who knows but everyone
else he deals with in a very not so nice
way but to look at him positively these
color I'll tell you the try to remember
only the good about him the yakubira low
I'll call hamasimha also love
uh he should remember the good and make
it overcome all the other Deeds he did
to him it's it's an exercise it's an
exercise but this will bring more
compassion into the World by you being
compassionate
and the last paragraph I know we have
entered a cancer culture and if you
understand where this is leading to it's
it's not a good thing it's not a good
thing now
if there's somebody who is let's say
an anti-semite and you gave him plenty
of chances to repent and take back what
he said and he holds his ground and he
you know we're not mentioning any names
of course right and he continues can you
imagine he can lose billions of dollars
and he says see they it proves my point
first of all I mean if we're talking
about the latest Fiasco I mean we're
talking about many non-jews have taken
out uh resentment or whatever this is
because a person has been given a chance
to repent and he's what he called like
digging in his heels and he's holding
his ground and he's even more filth
comes out of his mouth and I'll just use
one of them Defcon three like you know
okay so you probably deserve to lose a
few more extra
quarters from your pocket okay anyway
below you're not gonna believe all the
Omar do not cancel from your heart don't
eliminate
he should not eliminate from his heart
to say
you know although he did me a good thing
but you know what he also did me a bad
thing
you're not supposed to cancel your in
Your Heart by saying this and forget the
good
as a result no don't act like that don't
don't cancel out and say you know what
all that good stuff he did was ruined by
that one bad thing
what you should do rather is you should
be appeased
um
meaning you're going to end up ignoring
the bad stuff but you should be appeased
for the bed that was done in any way
possible meaning you have to work it out
okay within yourself and
never remove your focus from the good
that the person did
a rabbi but yeah we're not supposed to
be doormats though right absolutely not
no absolutely not
you know like I mentioned this idea of
confronting somebody having a dialogue
you tell them how you feel you tell them
the consequences look if you don't get
it off your chest you will hate him this
is the way you won't come to Hayden and
you know what if the guy's a mensch a
decent human being apologize or he'll
tell you oh you had the whole thing
misunderstood I would never do something
like that okay this is the only way
you're going to get it off your chest
and clarify and hopefully make the
proper tequin with the person it's hard
to talk to anybody today I get it most
people get really defensive and they
smack you back with you know oh you're
telling me well you're worse okay so it
has to be out of love if it's not done
correctly you're right it's going to
make things worse
but I think I gave you that whole idea
here in uh Leviticus chapter and it was
19 verse 17 and 18. you got to master
that
figure out a way to have a dialogue
that's not that's not called cancel
culture it's having a confrontation it's
not a protest and have the guy walk off
stage because he doesn't have a chance
to talk it's calling him up it's running
a letter writing him an email saying
let's get together for coffee you know
this really hurt me and I just want to
clarify
what's the guy going to say you're a
jerk and you deserved it so you say what
did I do at least you have a
conversation you know I have a
conversation if if you have another
person on the other end you can talk to
him again there are plenty of people
unfortunately that are just um dead ends
right there's no way to talk to them I
get it
okay I hope that clarified it yes
okay so never remove your focus from the
good
um basically it's like this
right always have the good and the focus
of your eyes
but rather you should ignore these bad
character traits we talked about that
with the Azamara all that you're able to
do just like karish baraku's clothing
just like Hashem does and this will open
up a deep
Fountain of blessing in one's life yes
we're not doormats I totally agree we're
talking about in your basic everyday
relations people you have an ongoing
relation let it go try to be at peace
it's going to just kill you in the end
with all kinds of diseases right there's
a strong relation between the soul and
the body and emotions get caught up in
the middle and we need to be let's say
emotionally mature people and the best
thing right is to breathe
seek counsel
pray but the main thing is to look at
the world positively what the way you
look at the world is the way the world
looks at you and it's only going to get
worse when you think everything is
everything's against you seek some help
there's therapists there's rabbis
friends but basically
um uh you know you got to learn how to
let it go let it go you know there's um
different battles you can fight
uh you always say you know it's just not
worth fighting this battle and uh the
the main battle is the one inside is the
Eternal internal battle
um you know with the way we think about
situations about people and it will put
you at peace and it will bring in such
unbelievable and what's the word
Providence
and Providence coming down from heaven
and I think that you'll feel it you'll
experience it immediately when you adopt
these ideas
yeah yeah
okay so that's it for today
I hope that was wow beautiful beautiful
stuff you know uh uh going back to uh uh
some of what you were talking about I
heard a great lesson a few weeks ago
about uh um how Joseph uh when he
confronted his brothers and he told them
that you intended this for evil but
Hashem intended this for good and the
reality is that's covering over the sin
in a sense that it it it turned back
time uh in a sense it it changed the
outcome uh down the line and uh I think
that's clear in in what your message is
here yeah it's a very good example you
gave because I think that's exactly what
happened
he didn't forgive them per se because
it's not his place they still sinned
they had to do chuva but he wanted to
when he noticed it yeah that I believe
as Joseph that every and I could see it
clearly as Joseph right I'm putting
myself into his shoes
it was clearly you know you sold me to
the worst possible place
armpit of the world to Egypt
you know that harlotry and sexual
immorality was the worst place there and
if you are guarded against it
you will not become impoverished and he
was we call him Joseph
he understood that his role was to save
his family and perhaps even mankind
um from from what's the word for poverty
I'm looking for there was a drought a
famine I mean you're talking about
it could have been like
like what you know millions of people
whoever lived at the time wiped out and
he had this dream and he knew
prophetically that if you save seven
years of the during the seven years of
plenty this would be enough to hold them
over and the truth was after two years
alone when yaakov comes down with the
family that the the drought actually
ended
but they probably had enough for the
full seven years that he could have and
would have and actually did save and he
understood he really understood that
this was all for the good
for the best
and he was able to overlook it not hold
the resentment although they weren't
sure if he still if he actually
ultimately forgave them and as we see
later in the story
but yeah I find so many parallels in his
life and uh you know the question with
the cup Bearer and the baker also
um
a red door or somewhere you know that he
ended up staying an extra couple years
in the prison uh after the cup Bearer uh
was restored and uh the reason being is
that he appealed to the cup Bearer to
remember him rather than trust Hashem uh
as if the man himself could could
deliver him uh from his oppression and
uh uh it really just goes to show how
you were saying today uh your show to
the world uh a certain way you're gonna
get fed back
uh a similar way there's quite a
reflection for sure that bounces back on
us and uh I I love the concept of
suppressing our sins uh but I think
you've made that clear today that they
just don't reach that high they don't
have the longevity that a Mitzvah is
eternal and uh it I love how you said
the building block uh for our uh
dwelling place or uh or
um
are uh how do you say clothing uh
clothing I think that's the language you
used yeah
well beautiful stuff well Rabbi we did
miss you these last several weeks but
it's always a joy to be uh with you and
hear the beauty of Torah and this uh
Tomer devorah book is just a wonderful
wonderful wonderful material I don't
know what your schedule is like but uh
you let me know when we'll be doing part
nine and everybody out there listening
I'll make sure that uh uh it's uh
publicized when we'll be going live with
Rabbi post and next so until next time
we're gonna sign out rabbi
all right
have a wonderful day everybody bye for
now
[Music]
oh they're not
