Nations Will Hear Reports of You and Shake in Fear and Trepidation with Rabbi Aaron Dovid Poston

[Music] Shalom Alim everybody welcome back to the mid a warm welcome a very very warm welcome I want to just give a brief introduction so people understand we are using the clear as a basis for our adding to the Torah hello this verse tells us there was no a scolding there's no rebuke for the fast days kept these on these days in fact that was the tradition and the prophets actually agreed with them meaning yes there's no there's no rebuke there's no admonishment the only thing is that those days eventually will turn into uh uh days of feasting So based on that keep in mind we are supposed to anticipate the coming of the Messiah okay and uh I'm just going to quote Rabbi gladstein if we're really anticipating this should be on the the Forefront of our mind when we're passing through a doorway and we're touching the muza when we're putting on the film and anytime we're doing Mitzvah okay we're anticipating the coming of the Messiah and it's no question why so many of the Mitzvah are there to remind us of God's salvation he in order to remind you that he took you out of Egypt and he's going to take you out of the situation of mitar the State of Mind the state of being that we're in right now MIT and mitar this is called the Bim the days in The Straits because that's really what MIM is is a tight constricted place so he mentions and I just you know I kind of I kind of find it you know you're going to win and you're full of Courage so we have a directive God says when right you have to defend yourself you're an eternal nation and when you go to war especially when you we're not talking about an offensive War we're talking about a defensive War you have to be full of courage and you you you cannot let uh cowardice or um you know the morale to to go down and the Torah tells us right here in Deuteronomy this is our para today I will begin to put dread of you and the fear of you upon the Nations that are under the entire heaven we have to hear the Hebrew so beautiful who will hear reports of you and shake and be in trepidation because of you now if you read this 3,000 years ago or 2,000 or even a thousand or even 250 years ago who who hears of these reports of what's going on today we have besides the printing press we have the internet we have messages on our phones if you have a smartphone or whatever you have it's quite quick word word can get around pretty quick can you imagine that that at that time 3,300 years ago today I will begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you upon the Nations so we're going to look at the words I'm going to put I'm going to start start that's really what it means I'm going to start and then the next word is Tate these are two important words and I'm going to put this fear and this another type of fear on the right before the Nations what what do you have to say under all the heavens just keep in mind of the words under all the heavens they're going to hear these reports they're going to hear something the rugs see to me that would be more of a uh of anger they're going to becomes agitated let's say agitated here it says shaking and they're going to be again another type of agitation or fear because of you now I want to read the Rashi because this is a little bit of a continuation whoever listened last week I I highly suggest I already mentioned you have to go back and hear it again because what we stood still for Moses on the day of the battle with o although other um additions say with s so what happened is do we see anywhere in the five books of Moses that the sun Stood Still and if you tell me Joshua then you're not answering me correctly because that's not in the five books of Moses it's in the Tanakh and there are other places the question is like this how rashi's telling us that the son stole from Moses on this battle that we're now reading about and we actually read about it also M mat so what's going on here so as Rashi says the matter became consequently known under the entire Heaven that is to the whole world meaning if the sun Stood Still everybody on planet Earth would see it it would become so known that the sun Stood Still so I'm not denying the sun Stood Still for like Joshua and that's hinted to through that gazer shova of I will begin now the clear makes a fantastic statement that the beginning when you say I'm going to begin something that means it's coming towards a conclusion there's a beginning and there's an end okay you see in the words certainly this beginning brought about an end which basically we interpret like this that there's not a possibility for a finishing with without some kind of beginning since the Nations we're not talking about the Jews we're talking about the non-jews here the non-jews have this um security or they believe or they trust in the power of the zodiac in the power of the stars and at least a majority of those who worship the Stars they worship the Sun you know the uh the spies themselves which point of view they did meaning they they believed in these Angelic forces that had power so these great cities were very Mighty they went all the way up to the heavens like it's not an exaggeration in spiritual terms it's only an exaggeration in physical terms in spiritual terms it really went up to the heavens because that's what they believed in I just want to share a comment in the Rashi um based on this 128 so this is a comment this is a um there is an Arts SC Rashi that has comments on Rashi so it brings down here in Source footnote number six from the cfre and Kul 90b it's obvious the cities were not literally fortified to the heavens when the Torah or the sages speak in terms that are imprecise such as this hyperbolic statement which Rashi says it's hyper hyperbole it is not due to carelessness or lack of concern for the exact truth this is very important when you learn cabala or you're learning um anything metaphysical all things that exist in the material material world that he's arguing with Rashi it's again he's talking in metap physical terms this is not an exaggeration if you think in metaphysical terms U what were they saying remember these are not just the will come down so when you see Israel's enemies dropping and we're not just talking about you know Amad the terrorist I mean he should come down too but when you when you have I don't have to mention their names you know we all know their names therefore what happened there was the standing Moses caused the son to stand still Joshua caused the son to stand still and meaning their Angels were inactive they were not able to work okay they just were standing still they weren't moving in their orbits they ceased to function and that was the beginning of their fall when the planets or the Stars cease from moving they stop moving they stand then with necessity obvious that the rest of their people anybody that trust in these whether the leaders or the SAR the Angelic forces will fall and the verse we saw in the verse 25 at the end and shake and be in trepid in trepidation because of them Al came near that's why right therefore we have that hint to the gazer Sha that the sun Stood Still because of the word a the word a in our verse and the a over there in Joshua to teach us that the beginning of their fall therefore began it's hanging in this beginning when God says I will begin because we're going to see shortly nothing happened yet this is all in the beginning and yet the results were the same that they fell now we know in the very beginning we'll look at verse 31 actually so what does it say over there behold look behold I have begun to deliver seon and his land before you and be and I began to drive them out now what what exactly happened nothing happened it what do you mean I began this whole idea of beginning happened in heaven and the next verse look at verse 32 then seon went out this is going to blow you away seon went out he went out to fight you know that he was like a I don't know how do you want to say it a master Diplomat I mean he had the ability to gather allies to gather allies and you know what he did he went out alone look at rash on that verse it's number five in the sshi uh let's start with that oh let's start with that then we'll go to number 632 and the Lord said to me this is mosha behold I have begun to deliver seon and his land before you begin to drive him out what do you mean I already began to deliver him you should begin to drive him out I'm sorry rash well guess what Rashi says there what do you mean I began to went out why does the verse say I began and the answer still nothing even happen what do you mean I began ifem gave and his promise was met that it means it already happened if that's true then why does it say behold I am I am beginning gar already would have been you know towards the Finish Line it all is relating to the the standing still of the Sun that was the biggest sign that they were on their way down certainly through the standing of the sun it's it's it's saying such a thing it's declaring such a thing Rashi and in fact that could be what Rashi means and Rashi said we saw that Rashi it says that he made it says right there number five God forced down the guardian angel of the amorites from above beneath Moses's feet and made him tread upon his neck that is the sign that was well it comes back to the idea that the sun Stood Still when he says I will begin okay the last two paragraphs quite short shom do you realize you go to war you have an obligation to create peace Mo God didn't tell Moses to offer a hand of peace and yet Moses did anyway what did he say he basically said if you go to um number nine on the S sheet so I sent Messengers it's chapter 2 verse 2 26- 28 Moses saying I sent Messengers in the desert of kote which we're going to see what that means why did it have to tell us that that's where he sent them from to King ofes with words of Peace shom saying just let us pass through we're not here to fight with you we're not going to stay on the path we'll pay for whatever we take right isn't that word that's words of peace right we're not here to would not accept the Torah and yet he offered it anyway I me it kind of reminds me the idea also billum he sent uh a prophet called billum because one day they could say hey if we would have had a prophet like Moses you know at least give us a chance you know we didn't have it so we shouldn't be held accountable so too here but the idea is that there was peace there's some kind of Peace even though you know they're not going to accept it you can still offer to them so that later on they can't make this complaint let's just see how Rashi says it so this idea even though the omnipresent had why does it say midbar because Moses said to God I learned this from you so either way he learned it from him but because you and the Torah you preceded the world now you God you preceded the world you could have released the Jews from Egypt in a flash of light lightning but instead it took a whole year took 10 plagues right this is what he says you could have sent one flash of lightning to consume the Egyptians but instead you sent me from the desert to Pharaoh saying let my people go but the Rashi the Hebrew says you you let let my people go but it all happened slowly so I just want to let everyone know they claim the Arabs the enemy whoever they are there's 100 Year War and they're going to stick it out forever well guess what we know it's a 100y year war Rabbi Bri it's like you Amorite king of K his land and again he says begin to possess it and provoke him to war rash the H I don't think there is a Rashi on that but the clear is using that to explain like this it was known
