close to 100 years ago Mr Joel
Brotherman had a vision for excellence
in Jewish Education and what he meant by
that was no compromise excellence in
Torah studies and observance of Torah
mitzvot also in academics Yeshiva
Flatbush has always been committed to
providing excellent facilities where the
school Not only was a place where they
could learn but they could feel at home
in the late 90s a group of us got
together and we were told we were
concerned about the future of the school
we couldn't begin to provide the kind of
education that we needed to provide as
long as there were no science labs as
long as the audio visual equipment in
the auditorium was 30 and 40 years old
as long as the library had no computers
in it and no space for Independent
Learning involved on a plan to not only
renovate the building but to expand the
building

when I was a freshman we were still in
the old building finally when I was a
sophomore they opened up the back wall
and there was the commons and crawfords
and there was a whole new Library Benton
trash it just brought so much life into
the building in the comments it's like
an open space it really invites people
to have conversations make new friends I
see people at the cafe getting something
to eat a snack socializing you come into
the library and you see every corner of
the room filled with Children Learning
congregating enjoying their friends
students who used to be here they don't
believe it it's glorious it's beautiful
it's just such a great place to be in
when you're learning and when you're
praying just sets the mood this past
year I was a dance captain and we
realized the Jack Levy fitness center
and we were very grateful to have this
space the students feel like a adults
they feel like they're in college they
have great food great friends and the
ability to improve their social and
academic
we're super excited about the state of
the art music and creative arts space
it's a recording studio and a place for
music and singing and digital Music
Creation not only is it building big
and vibrancy around that energy is
really a big part of what brought me
back here to teach and it's just such a
big part of what the school is today
over the last few years the Yeshiva
enrollment is booming we're doing
everything we can to make sure we can
cater to every student these buildings
and their upgrades didn't happen by
themselves countless numbers of
volunteers and professionals spent hours
and weeks and months and years both in
the planning and the implementation of
this incredible project as we completed
the renovations on our new building we
recognize the need to go back and
enhance our existing building our
classrooms
our gymnasium our administrative Wing
our facade all needed a complete
renovation to bring them up to speed
with the rest of the building we're
talking about changing all the
building's infrastructure the heat the
light the sound we found in our new
building that natural light creates an
uplifting inspiring feel in the building
but we're adding an additional bent
midrash space we're making a huge
investment in our Pathfinders and
college guidance space they're going to
be in the same space together now and
all of this is to give Rocket Fuel to
the students growth Beyond high school
it's been 25 years since we began this
project honestly the project has
exceeded any expectations that we had
the difference in the school the
difference in the life of the students
the difference in our reputation the
difference in the happiness of the
children and the community is
mind-boggling just get a chill when I
walk in this building it's beautiful God
bless every one of those people that
work are making this happen I really
made a lot of friends and fly Flatbush
and it's largely in part due to the fact
that we have this great facility I'm so
grateful to everyone involved that made
my past four years the best it could
ever be incredibly appreciative for all
those who've partnered with us to create
a building that's excellent and
fantastic and uplifting and now as we're
getting close to finishing off the
project we turn to you once again to be
able to continue that support and help
us cross the finish line we're three
quarters of the way there we're asking
everyone tonight please stretch
yourselves as much as possible to help
us get to that last mile we need the
last generous people to step forward and
give us what we need to complete this
project without any kind of crippling
debt that would impact us in the future
my family has invested in Yeshiva
Flatbush because recognizing points of
this being the most important
institution in the community is there
any more important investment than the
investment in our children's future
