WORSE than 1984? This 3000-year-old prediction is coming true NOW

I'm not a political scientist I'm not a social critic but I think this is an important idea to discuss that can help us understand the way that the Jewish Prophets foresaw The Ultimate phase of History so first of all do we live in Orwell's 1984. it's a question a lot of people ask the answer According to some is no but we live in a different dystopia that was envisioned by another English intellectual author Aldous Huxley namely in his work A Brave New World this contrast of Orwell's dystopia and huxley's dystopia was originally pointed out by a social critic by the name of Neil Postman or revnayak Maisha I don't know if he was ever referred to that in his lifetime but that's what his uh gravestone says and will mention his name for a blessing back in the 80s Postman was already warning about the dangers of Technology this is way before the internet ERA this is way before social media there's a way before the search engine bubble and the algorithms and Postman was already warning that technology was ruining us he gave an example he said that in the early era of American History most Americans didn't know what the president looked like they didn't recognize him by face but if they would read something he had written they could identify his words today and this is talking about in the 80s Postman pointed out that everyone could identify a famous politician by his picture but very few could identify him by his words unless it was some type of memeable quote like when Walter Mondale famously said to Gary Hart during the 1984 Democratic party primaries where is the beef which was a big advertising slogan of Wendy's at the time so cute little sound bites those are the things people remember basically derivative stuff that's a quote of a quote of a quote within a quote meta as the kids call it but not any of their original ideas or thoughts Postman wrote a book about this called amusing ourselves to death and he very clearly spelled out how the dystopia that we had to fear was not Orwell's 1984 But huxley's A Brave New World Orwell depicted a dystopia where there was a top-down authoritarian restriction of information that big brother was not letting us know what we needed to know Huxley depicted a situation where we did it to ourselves where it wasn't forced upon us but it became so easy and comfortable that we brought upon ourselves a deluge of absolutely meaningless information so that even if the truth were in plain sight we wouldn't even care to identify it would be too much work or to quote from Postman Orwell feared the truth would be concealed from us Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance and basically just be so pleasurable to veg out and give ourselves that self-administered dopamine hit of consuming meaninglessness that no one would have to actively oppress us we would just enslave ourselves and to me that's a lot scarier than what Orwell's describing and in in my humble opinion I think it's a lot closer to the situation today we have more information more access to information today than any time in the history of the world anything you want to know you can find out the problem is there's so much information and who's to say what's true and who's to say who's a reliable source so what are we doing we're just clicking on more funny cat videos even though ostensibly if we wanted to really go find out the truth it's more available to us than any time in history as a rabbi as a student of the Torah this is very interesting to me there is a kabbalistic book known as the Zohar it is the primary text of kabbalistic teachings in this text it equates the era before the Advent of the Messianic era as a time when there will be an explosion of information in the account of the life of Noah and the flood in Precious or the Book of Genesis chapter 7 verse 11. it says in the 600th year the life of Noah all Wellsprings of the great deep burst open and the windows of Heaven were opened so the Zohar says that these Wellsprings of the great deep and these windows of the heaven meaning to say the flood from above and the flood from below correspond to another type of a flood the Zohar says that in the 600th year of the sixth Millennium and if you use the biblical dating that corresponds to the secular date 1840 of the common era that at this time there will be an explosion of Knowledge from above and below now what is knowledge from above and what is knowledge From Below Knowledge from above means spiritual knowledge and many point out that that date coincides with the publication of many Jewish mystical teachings from the Hasidic movement Knowledge from below it's not a put down below doesn't mean that it's profane it just means that it's mundane it means secular knowledge think about how much people knew about the way the world worked in the mid-1800s compared to a century before or two centuries before and especially in the pre-modern era so this is a very interesting Prophecy of the Zohar and what seems to be telling us is that before the world is perfected in the Messianic era there's going to be a time when information just becomes available at an unprecedented level now it doesn't there explain explicitly or I'm not even sure if it implies that with this Deluge of information there will be misinformation but one has to think that when these Wellsprings open and there's this explosion of knowledge at least for a certain period of time as the process is working itself out as it were there's going to be information that's not a hundred percent accurate or true or helpful in other words to me when I think about a world where there's way too much information that's problematic but it's not inherently a catastrophe to the contrary it can actually be part of a process of Truth becoming more available yes we haven't reached the end goal where the truth is refined and identified so there's a lot of dross in the smelting pot so to speak which hasn't yet been separated but the characterization of a world where there's just tons and tons and tons of information available is not intrinsically a bad thing maimonides the Great philosopher and legal codifier he writes in his laws of the Messianic era that in that time meaning the Messianic era there will be no famine no war no Envy no Strife because Good Will emanate in abundance and delightful things Delicacies will be as plentiful as dust so he describes an era of material Bounty which incidentally sounds like our day and age where there is a food surplus we went from a time in the 60s when it was predicted there was a population bomb there would be overpopulation because we didn't have enough arable land then there were Innovations in in food technology and now our problem is not that there's not enough food for people the problem is distribution and Corruption obviously that's something that in the Messianic era will be removed there will be no more corruption and people will have access to not only food but to all resources but furthermore listen to what maimonidity says next he says the one preoccupation of the entire world will be solely to know God and then he describes the world in that time invoking the words of the prophet Isaiah qasim the world will be full of the knowledge of God like water covers the ocean bed in other words what is the world that our prophets foresaw it is a world that not only has all resources in abundance but information in abundance now obviously at the end goal all of that information which becomes ubiquitous is all good information holy information truth but I'm suggesting that maybe part of the process of getting to a point where we live in a world that is inundated with truthful information is going through temporarily at least a process where there's just a lot of all kinds of information truth non-truth information disinformation misinformation and everything in between so are we dangerously close to a scenario like Huxley for Saul You could argue in some ways we are but I believe that putting out messages like this and raising awareness and giving us the opportunity to think deliberately about what's going on is a way way that we can harness the opportunity that we were given this doesn't have to be something that happens to us this can be something that we play an active role in if we're mindful what I would suggest as far as an action item coming forth from this is that today everyone has been armed with a device that has access to a global platform you can go on social media like this one that you're watching me on right now and you can put out information yeah can every crackpot also put out their information yes that's one of the biggest problems of the internet however that's not going away what do you want we should not allow the crackpots to post that sounds similar to Orwell so we want to be careful about that but what we can do is use our access to these platforms to just flood the world with more and more truth you don't have to be the world's biggest thought leader but if there's something you feel is truthful and helpful and can make the world a better place put it out do me a favor go on whatever plan platform you want right now and produce some content right now even if it's 30 seconds long share something that you believe is good and helpful and spreads light because to my thinking at least marring any Miracles which God is always able to do the natural path toward turning this current situation from A Brave New World situation into a perfect world like our prophets foresaw is going to involve you putting out some good content okay I did my part I put out this little video I hope you like it but you need to put out
