the simple reason why we don't wear leather shoes on Yim Kipper is because it's one of those forms of deprivation where we deny ourselves certain Creature Comforts and one of those Comforts is having leather shoes with a thick sole that makes it more comfortable to walk on the ground but there's a deeper reason as well which is that the soles of our shoes and leather shoes have thick soles is what constitutes the separation between us and the world now normally as a soul and a body we need a buffer between us and the physical world yipper is the holiest day of the year the world itself becomes Holier on that day on that day we can actually remove the buffer remove the barrier the shoe so to speak that separates the soul and the body and because the world itself is more exalted and more refined on that day it's a day where we can sort of be in this world as a naked Soul without the buffers of the body which is also why there are other physical needs that we don't tend to onion Kipper such as eating and drinking
