Why visit the Rebbe's father in Alma Ata?

Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, father of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, passed away in Soviet government imposed exile in Kazakhstan, in 1944. Sadly, the Rebbe himself was never able to see his father from 1927. Subsequently, the Iron Curtain prevented him from ever visiting his resting place. Israel Singer is a Jewish activist, academic and former secretary general of the World Jewish Congress. In the mid-1970s, he taught political science in New York and served on the staff of President Gerald Ford.
