Why is the Summer so Hard? | Rabbi Nachum Binder
785 views
During the summer, there are many challenges and temptations that can test our commitment to Shmiras Einayim. Although it can be frustrating, it's essential to remember that Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur follow shortly after. By maintaining our guard over our eyes, we can earn merit for the Yom HaDin. Instead of viewing these challenges as obstacles, we should embrace them as golden opportunities. Summer is here.
Summer vacation, Bein Hazmanim, family trips.
Wandering in places that we don't
usually wander the whole year.
And with that come tremendous Nisyonos
in Shmiras Ha'einayim.
And as the years go on,
the Nisyonos grow only stronger.
I want to share a Hergesh
that I recently had about this.
We know that there's nothing in the world
that happens by accident.
The Ribono Shel Olam runs the world
with clear precision.
And anything that happens, when it happens,
how it happens is with a reason.
Why is the summer so hard?
Why did the Ribono Shel Olam make the summer
as the time for such tremendous
Nisyonos in Shmiras Ha'einayim?
And I think that the answer may be very simple.
What follows the summer?
What follows the summer
is the preparation for that awesome day
when מלאכים יחפזון וחיל ורעדה יאחזון
.ויאמרו הנה יום הדין
We all know that on that
awesome day of Rosh Hashanah
and the days following it
leading up to Yom Kippur,
everything and anything that will take place
the following year is decided on that day.
And the Ribono Shel Olam
wants us all to be Zoche to only good.
But nothing comes for free.
We have to earn it.
And the best way
to earn a שנה טובה ומבורכת
is going through a summer
with the Nisyonos of Shmiras Ha'einayim
with tremendous Nisyonos
that we don't experience the whole year
and working on it and overcoming it
and becoming stronger
from those Nisyonos.
The summer Nisyonos
are not challenges.
The summer Nisyonos
are an opportunity for all of us,
amongst Ganz Klal Yisroel
to be זוכה to a כתיבה וחתימה טובה.
