Why Do Kohanim Rush Through The Birkas Kohanim Niggun?

Hi, this is Doski with that question and answer series where in a short period of time we try to answer listeners questions. Why do kahanim rush through beer kahanim niggan? I can barely ever get through the entire for those you don't understand the context uh on the uh um inlar the kohan blessed the people uh here in many places they bless the people every single day by the way in it's so dopard I remember hearing that lemon when he went to America would dive him with a smarty minion so he could get in kahanim every day but by the ashkanazim and they only do it on the shashim um and here people do it every day in some places like taria they only do it on shabas but um uh even though when they do it on the gullum here and in when they do it on the gullum the kohanim sing Because there's a special yehir song that you can say. When I was in uh America, we used to sing after every pik. We would sing after each one and people would say you hear it. Here in Israel, only after the last one, they would sing the uh sing the niggan. Yeah. The niggan they use here in Israel in most places and what we used when I was in was I And then they would do that again. And you would do that again. Yeah. It's a nice long niggan. All right. When I was in the younger of North Belmore, they did um uh I I [singing] that's much shorter, Right. When I uh um we be in Kohadim, we used to go to conservative synagogue in Eastman Jewish Center. They had a tune I did he die. Also shorter. Yeah, my wife uh used to dive in uh by Rabbi Margolus Deel a mikvah mikvah I think it was called. Yeah, in Cugan Hills D. None of these are as long as the one they do here in. So, uh, so you understand that either you're going to drag it out or you're not going to drag it out. So, if you do the the one init, you have a lot more time. It's a nice longer niggan. In some places, they run through it. Why? Well, I just remember that uh on the uh sometimes a person has yight and comes out on a shabas or a yontiff and uh the line they used on me once is they said his father when he died made him an orphan but he didn't make him a kazin. [laughter] If you have to din then you are not that musical. Not every coin is musical. That was the job of the levim in the bas of mdash was to sing. That wasn't the job of us kohan. We had plenty to do in the bas of mikdash and singing was not one of them. So not everybody has that gift of being able to uh be musical. So it could very well be that if you um don't have it and you're given a slow tune and they rush through it, that's just their musical gifts. So therefore, try to go someplace where they do the niggan that they do here in Shell, which takes a nice long time, even if you're not that musical, to get through it.
