When the Russian Flag was Raised in Crimea

On 27 February 2014 Russian soldiers begin patrolling the streets of Simferopol in Crimea. Joining up with local militias, the Russians seize the Supreme Council and Council of Ministers buildings in the centre of the capital. The Russian flag is raised above the Crimean Parliament building while naval infantry, paratroopers, and auxiliaries set up barricades. The Russian invasion of Crimea has begun.
