Hello everyone. Today we've reached the haftura for Shabbat Hanukkah. [music] The prophet lifts his eyes and sees the first vision for horns for forces, [music] symbols of the powers that broke and scattered Yehuda, Israel, and Jerusalem. These horns are not just a metaphor. [music] They represent the empires that oppressed the Jewish people so much that no one dared to lift their head. When [music] the prophet asks what the vision means, the angel explains it to him simply. These are the forces that scattered the people and [music] cause destruction. But immediately there is hope for craftsmen come to confront [music] the horns to terrify them and bring down their pride. As if God is [music] sending opposing forces to destroy the evil and allow for a new beginning. The next vision, [music] a man walks with a measuring stick.
