okay let me at the very start of this
video apologize for the very poor
lighting
however i want to start this video
exactly right now where i am right now
so yeah i'm not going to explain more
than that
for those of you who look at the terra
as a book
of rules you're way off that the terror
is so much more than that
but this week you are at least a
little less way off because there are a
lot of rules
a lot of commandments a lot of mitzvos
in this week's torah portion
these are divine laws for life given to
us by the creator
and constant animator force of life
god now one of the commandments in this
week's torah portion is that we must not
eat an animal that was
not ritually slaughtered of course jews
can only eat
kosher animals but even a kosher animal
needs to be
properly kosherly ritually slaughtered
and if it is not then it is
not exactly a kosher animal anymore
even though it's from a kosher species
because it is not fit
for a jew's consumption
the verse says you must be a holy people
unto me
you must not eat of the flesh of
an animal that was torn by beasts of the
field something like that that's only
part of the verse
but that's what's relevant right now
what are you saying dude
everything's relevant right now this is
true
and uh that i i wasn't actually talking
i was just pretending to talk to myself
i don't actually have an issue talking
to yourself
to myself yes you do no no i don't but
you do
there's no denying it okay ellie stop
um well okay where were we okay so flesh
that was torn by beasts of the field of
course
is not meat that was from an animal that
was ritually slaughtered because it was
just killed by another animal
and even if it wasn't killed by another
animal but let's say a sheep
survived being attacked by a wolf but if
the wolf heard it
and fatally wounded it so that it would
die
within a year then that sheep also
that meat is not kosher meat
any longer and is forbidden for our
consumption i know that most of you
watching this video already keep closure
for those of you who don't this is my
being very
passive aggressive and saying everybody
who watches these videos keeps kosher
of course there's also so much more that
we can learn from this mitzvah
and here's something the field
that the verse speaks of is like the
world at large
in a world where godliness is not yet
fully revealed
right because we still do not see at
least i don't
as of the making of this video so the
world the way it looks right now
although there is a lot of beauty god is
also hidden
and there is a lot of pain and suffering
and
spiritual dangers lurking
in the shadows i'm not gonna make the
sound more dramatic than it needs to be
okay we all know the world is a scary
place
and spiritually speaking it's a very
difficult
place to live i'd rather be in heaven is
how the soul kind of feels
[Music]
essentially we really want to be within
a body but
in a in an ideal
setting with godliness revealed in the
world
the jewish people in their homeland the
holy land
and it pains us that this is not the
situation right now
first of all we gotta protect ourselves
when we go out into the world
there's many scary things that we try to
protect ourselves from if we'll do
things to protect ourselves and others
on a physical level then for sure this
makes sense to do
on a spiritual level so next time you
see me in the supermarket without a mask
please i'm wearing my spiritual mask
okay
so let's not get torn by those beasts of
the field let's
be safe and also the rebbe says being
that we're in this situation
right now in a world without a complete
full revelation of godliness we
are internally broken
ripped torn apart even though yes we
must protect ourselves
from spiritual danger but we feel
torn already because well simply because
we aren't whole
without living together in the world
with god with it being revealed
that god is in everything
everywhere at all times and in every
moment
so we must demand
of god
and the best way to do this is by
getting in the mode
that we know will be in when godliness
is revealed
in all things increase in joy in your
life
increase in love for your fellow
increase in torah study
do another mitzvah with more passion and
energy excitement
and joy yes i already said increase in
joy and now i'm seeing joy again because
now
we have entered the month of adar and in
this month we
especially increase injury so
[Music]
