What Our Children Will Remember | Rabbi Baruch Levine

[Music] Thank you so much Vim for asking me to contribute on this amazing platform that brings to so many. I was saying to myself, how am I supposed to tell you know the world in Kadusha we're all struggling with it. I said I need something a good story that can maybe everyone could relate to. And I was sitting with a Rebi in my yeshiva katana by recess last week and he told me a ma and I was thinking to myself that this is something I think we can learn from and he said that he was teaching he often says stories of gdum to his third grade and he said a story was sitting in his house and he had a tiny house and his house was basically a little room and he was sitting on his bed and the ber were coming and they were handling with him and learning and one ber knocked over his negoers and it went all over and le and iron le didn't flinch like as if nothing happened. He kept on going obviously to be sensitive to the Talmud who spilled the water. Corner of the classroom there was a boy and he raises his hand and he says, "Rebi and I know the boy is and he's not an olive student. He's not a bay student. He probably didn't remember much of what his rebi taught him that year." And he said, "Rebby, you did that three times this year." I remember right after Rashana came and he had a water bottle and he was throwing it out and the cap was off and it splashed on Rebi and Rebi just kept on going and then Khan time remember you were giving out donuts and your coffee was on the desk and we were all coming around for the raffle and one of the boys came and Reb's coffee spilled all over Reby's papers and Rebby just kept on going and then I remember also right after Tubishvat when you were doing recess duty and one of the boys caught the football and smashed right into Rebi and knocked Rebi over and nothing happened. This Reb is telling me the story and we know this boy and it was an amazing lesson for us because here's a Talmud who was not your olive T not your B Tud but in Rebi Sanhaga he was an olive plus he picked it up and I was thinking whether you're a Rebi you're a father you're a parent and an isan comes our way it's not just that is that moment of temptation that we have to work on ourselves but when we look away when we turn away our children are watching us and the impact that that has on them to make an indelible impression that they'll remember. When my father was driving the car and this came across the street, he kept on going. When my father was on the computer and this flashed across the screen, he totally disregarded it. Anything like that, it's not just an issue itself, but the impact that it can have for so many of our children, generations to come, could be incredible. [Music]
