What Is The Best Motivation?

next what is why is it that there is so much emphasis on fearing AEM from G uh well the reason why is because fear is the number one motivation for why people make decisions in the world that's how hasem created us uh psychologically speaking uh you know I took some psychology classes when I was still uh in school years ago and uh the number one motivator of why uh everything uh in the world operates is fear you know animals have certain instincts those instincts are fear-based you know the uh the uh they they kill uh in order to eat why they kill in order to eat it's not because they're necessarily hungry uh they don't necessarily go and Chase food because they're hungry uh many times they go before they're hungry because of fear of dying and needless to say you know humans uh they uh work certain jobs live in certain neighborhoods make certain friends uh get married you know do all the things that they do because they're afraid of not having it they work because they're afraid of poverty they eat certain foods because they're afraid of sickness uh they uh uh you know contain themselves and not speeding on traffic because they're afraid of dying or an accident or uh or even getting a ticket from the police uh you know people behave a certain way and not the way that they necessarily want to behave because they're afraid of becoming an outcast uh and so on so fear is uh very much the number one motivation of why people do what they do and this is the same thing that Hashem uh tells us to do in accordance to serving him uh in Mount Si hasem scared the life out of us uh literally uh and Moses said he's testing you and in order to make sure and he's scaring you in order to make sure that you don't sin meaning that if uh we know that there's going to be a consequence uh that's very very dear uh to our sins then we're simply going to think twice before we do it just like if somebody went into a restaurant and that restaurant had all types of wonderful food on the uh on the menu without a price so a stupid person would think oh if there's no price it must be free and he tells the guy oh listen give me everything that's on the menu now the waiter says sir uh do you realize that this is going to cost you $5,000 there $5,000 what are you talking about it's no $5,000 look it's free no no sir sir you have to turn around the menu and you'll see the price on the other side and once he turns around the menu and he sees that the cheapest dish on the menu is $500 all of a sudden he loses his appetite needless to say he's not going to order everything so once a person knows the price of something it makes them make a more educated guess educated decision I should say uh so the same thing here when a person knows that there is a very severe consequences for our sins such as gain or or or all of them then that person is going to make uh the uh their decision process perhaps uh a lot more uh in line with what the Torah says rather than what his desires uh say he may desire to be with this uh woman that's somebody else's wife once he realized that if he does it he's going to go to Gom for a very long time and they're going to perform all types of surgeries on his male member without anesthesia uh and they're going to hang him by that male member and he's going to be tortured in in a fire that's unlike any other fire that exists in this world as there are multiple types of fires that are in Gom that are unlike anything that exists in this world as the tells us in uh so there is green fire there's blue fire there's red fire there is a fire that uh eats and drinks there's a fire that drinks and eats there's a fire that uh uh you know is a the Divine fire of ofi all types of interesting fires and all of those fires are going to be used on this particular person at different times and he's also going to go to a different Gom of cold uh so again once a person knows that he's going to get punished for a uh inexplainable amount of time just for this 5 minute act if that that much uh he's simply not if he's smart uh he's simply not going to do it he's not going to do it why because he knows it's not worth it the five minutes of pleasure is not worth 5 million years of of punishment it's simply not so what if a person thought it's free could do whatever he wants then he's going to be with everybody's wife so that's the thing that's why it's critical for a person to know about the reward and Punishment we must reach such a high level of kadha through Torah learning and good deeds that we finally realize everything comes from Hashem the decree didn't come from Ham and The Salvation didn't come from morai everything is from all your problems are not caused by others it's Hashem talking to you trying to get your attention
