What even IS a Mitzvah?

a Mitzvah accomplishes something in the idiom of our sages Mitzvah mitvah that the reward of a Mitzvah is the Mitzvah itself a lot of times you hear the reward of a good deed is the good deed being interpreted to mean that means that when you do a good deed you feel good like Abraham Lincoln said I do good I feel good I do bad I feel bad that's my religion that's not our religion that with all due respect to the 16th president of the United States it's it's a it's a you know honest day it was honest that's an honest thing to say I do good I feel good I do bad I feel bad anyone with a conscience uh should be able to say the same but that's that's not Judaism that's not Torah the reward of a good deed is the good deed doesn't mean if you do good you'll feel good the reward of a good deed is the good deed means that a Mitzvah accomplishes something and the reward is the you have the accomplishment
