What Does it Look Like When Non-Jews Keep the Sabbath? -Jeremy Gimpel: The Land of Israel Fellowship

I know that there's a general perception that the only noahide laws are binding on non-jews but Isaiah 56 6 promises that those of us who attach ourselves to Hashem and who keep the Sabbath and don't profane it will be welcome in his house and in our offerings will be accepted on his altar can you speak a bit about what it should look like for those of us who are not Jews to keep the Sabbath and not profane it Jeremy yes I'm right here okay I would love to talk about that actually yes that's why I called on it yeah so I think that there's a misconception like people don't really understand meaning when the sages of Israel were figuring out okay well what are the rules here for the Nations now there will be Nations that want to keep the Torah and there'll be those among the Nations that don't want to keep the Torah and the Seven noahide laws are for the Nations that don't want to keep the Torah it's for everyone it doesn't matter if you want to keep the Torah or you don't want to keep the Torah you have to keep those seven laws or you're failing in life if you're murdering if you're stealing if you have sexual immorality there's like a base level of living that is demanded upon everyone in the world but those seven are like how to get a d-minus in life like if you get below the seven you actually get an f and no one wants to get an f and that's definitely not what you should be striving for is to get a D minus but the universal laws that they're like a little bit articulated in in I I think someone even showed me Inland in the New Testament in some ways but definitely later on in the talmud they lay down seven basic moral laws that if you want to be a like accepted in the world as a moral human being and not be actually in Israel according to those laws if you killed you're put to death like it's like you are not allowed to to live below the moral standards of those seven laws but the vision in Isaiah is much more than just the base moral standard the vision in Isaiah saying no no no they're going to be people among the Nations that are going to want to literally live a parallel life alongside the people of Israel and God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh that's not a Jewish thing that's a reality thing that's Adam wasn't a Jew and he was born on the sixth day and entered into the Sabbath on the seventh day and it was a day of rest and it was God's first holiday and so there will be non-jews who read The Ten Commandments and they're like you know why is it that the Ten Commandments say to rest and make the Sabbath holy on the seventh day why are we doing it on the first day of the week why where did that happen and it was sort of it's like opening up a rabbit's hole it's like a a Pandora's Box that all of a sudden once you start asking those questions then a whole new world will open up and there will be people that will continue to pursue that truth why in The Ten Commandments because if you ask most people around the world they really abide by The Ten Commandments they believe in the Ten Commandments they want the Ten Commandments outside of the courthouse they want the Ten Commandments taught in the schools but then you think well number four is to honor the Sabbath and keep it holy like no no no ad Khan you know well we don't really know him do that anymore that's that's a bit too much but then they'll be those and say well if it's God's holiday I want to celebrate God's times I want to be in God's Rhythm I want to live a life in the biblical uh way of the in rhythm with God's ways and so those people in the book of Isaiah are non-jews who say the seven miles yeah that's beautiful but I really want to live beyond that I want to live in honor and celebrate Shabbat now a non-jew does not need to they shouldn't celebrate Shabbat like a Jew there's like endless endless rules and regulations that's like the same way that an Israelite shouldn't necessarily go into the temple and start wearing the Priestly clothing and doing all the sacrifices that the priests are doing it's like a separate way there's why there's two commands there's to guard the Sabbath and to remember the Sabbath and remembering the Sabbath honoring the Sabbath commemorating the Sabbath celebrating Shabbat that really is for every believer around the world and the Believers that start honoring Shabbat and celebrating Shabbat Isaiah talks about them and he says they will have more honor and Renown than the Sons and Daughters of Israel because the Nations that open up that Pandora's Box and start going down the rabbit hole of what does the Torah mean for them them and they start walking down the path of living a Torah life because it's it's a little bit like rev malama says these are halachas of mashiach we don't have yet that even know what to do with the Nations that are now soon going to rise up like that's the Allah this generation that's the Torah that's now being formed in this Fellowship it's never been seen before it's a new movement but that movement is the prophetic movement that Isaiah talks about the non-jews The Strangers that attach themselves to Israel that honor the Shabbat will have more honor and Renown in the eyes of God than the Sons and Daughters of Israel why do they get more honor and renowned than the Sons and Daughters of Israel because for me and you Ari or for my kids in devash and Shiloh for them to celebrate Shabbat of course they're going to celebrate Shabbat they live in the mountains of Judea everyone celebrates Shabbat they're just doing what they're supposed to do because that's what everyone's doing but imagine um oh I don't know someone in Iowa and their whole family is doing something else on a different day of the week and they have to sort of tell their family well we're not really doing what everyone else is doing now and we're really kind of following the truth that God is showing us in our own life and they have to forge a new way and do this own thing that's breaking away from society and breaking away from social pressures they deserve more honor in Renown than the Sons and Daughters of Israel but that Messianic vision of Isaiah is far more than just the Baseline moral standard of the seven laws of Noah not that I listen the seven laws of Noah are the most important laws in the world without them Society will fall apart without them you're going to get San Francisco and without them boys are going to become girls and girls are going to become boys morality will lose its way there is a bar that cannot be shifted that's how Greeks come and Greeks go Babylonians come and Babylonians go this woke movement will come and the woke movement will go but Israel in the Jewish people will remain because we have a moral bar that is unmovable those seven laws are unmovable they will never be removed they are there as the Baseline for the whole world but that's the Baseline that's not the Finish Line the finish line is when the nations of the world celebrate Shabbat alongside the Jewish people as a testimony that God runs the world and he has chosen his days and one day the whole world will be celebrating Shabbat together but those that are the Pioneers Paving the way for those Nations to recognize that there's an opportunity for them to live a parallel life outside of Israel alongside Israel in their own communities those people will have more honor and Renown in the eyes of God than the Sons and Daughters of Israel and they'll be brought to his holy mountain and God will Gladden them on his house of prayer for all nations that is like one of the most beautiful Messianic prophecies in the Bible and what's so amazing is that I would say that more than 90 percent of our fellowship that are non-jews are already walking on that path recognizing and honoring Shabbat in their own way so what an amazing thing to be on The Cutting Edge of that prophecy as it's manifesting before our very eyes a hundred years ago do you know one would have dreamed that would have been like science fiction that there would be non-jews celebrating Shabbat like what that's never going to happen and here we are in our generation the last generation where we are starting to see literally like the sunrise of a new day and here we are the first rays of light and so I I live by that prophecy in Isaiah chapter 56. Jeremy that is beautiful there's just one thing I would sort of disagree with uh just textually and I'm sitting here searching the internet to try to find the source I can't find it so I could be wrong but you said if you just keep the laws of Noah then you're getting a D minus I don't believe that's true I think that if you keep the laws of Noah not because by default you're not ripping the leg off a camel and eating it but because all of these laws with all of their subcategories you're keeping because of the Torah and because it's uh that is what Hashem is seeking from the nations of the world then I remember reading somewhere or hearing somewhere that uh a namjoo who keeps the laws of Noah for those reasons are as holies like the high priest and that's I have to look for that Source but anyways so I wanna I wanna talk can I just address that issue because that's an important issue what that source is saying is that a non-jew isn't Bound by the Torah law like you are you have to keep every single law by the halacha whether you want to or whether you don't there's a lot more grace for the Nations how are they going to find the exact Kosher meat in Iowa by themselves without a like in the Philippines so there's like whoa it's okay there's seven laws and that's at that base but if you keep those seven with your heart fully committed to God it's not a religion you're good you're as hot as holy as the high priest because you are as holy as your heart is God is with you because God is in the heart and if your heart is with God you're with God and so that sentence isn't necessarily a claim about the seven laws of Noah but rather about the heart in how those non-jews live their life but what I am saying is that if there is a non-jew that rips the limb off of a living animal and that living animal is slowly dying and in pain and he eats off the limb he's gotten an F out of life he's missed that that if he is going and becoming a murderer then he's gotten an F meaning it is the lowest it is a bar that cannot be under but if you live that life with no religion you have no religion at all you don't adhere by any Customs any Traditions any sort of ritual but you keep that's those seven basic moral laws but your entire life is dedicated to God then the Torah saying you are good to go don't feel the pressure of the Torah on you as long as you are live a life committed to God dedicated to God then you can live a life as holy as the high priest of Israel because God wants what's in your heart and if your heart is with God then God is in your heart but those seven and that's why not everybody is supposed to you know that's why we're not a missionary religion because we're not and we're not really a religion but we're also not we don't know who's supposed to be what not everybody's supposed to be a Jew or people who feel seriously compelled like oh they just need to manifest the truth of their soul and they're willing to jump through all the hoops and all the craziness to well that person's supposed to become a Jew but to wind this question down because this question actually Jeremy in some ways brings us full circle to where we began not this Fellowship but our whole journey together in media on our very first radio program in our rootsava we had a guest on our show and it was vindal Jones who by the way the character Indiana Jones was based on vindel Jones you take off the V and the L you have Indian they base the character on him and I remember saying because he he kept the noahide laws he was like the Abraham of the Noah movement in a lot of ways and I said when does that even become relevant and he's like I grew up with a Texas Panhandle and we used to eat Rocky Mountain oysters I'm sure Tara may know what Rocky Mountain oysters are but um let's just put it this way it was I guess a limb off the living animal anyways I said why don't you convert to Judaism he says Ah there's already enough half-blanked Jews out there I'm not supposed to be a Jew I just
