What do You Know about the Avos? | Rabbi Avrum Mordche Malach

Did you ever have this thought, How could it be? I was already Mekabel on myself, I was already at such a good stage, and here again, the same challenge. Not even the same challenge, much worse. I was already in such a good place. How did I fall again? Rabosai, I remind myself when I was a child, we used to play with a game called The Time Out. I don't know if you remember, people of my age remember the Time Out. Years later, it started to progress more and more. It became the Nintendo and then the Game Boy. The game is that you play on level 1. And every game has its challenge, whatever you have to do. After a certain amount of points, let's say you got to 500 points, Wow, you did it! Now level 2 is starting. It’s becoming harder. And then, after another 1,000 points, you’re Zoche to get to level 3, which means even harder than level 2. And after a few minutes, level 4, level 5, and if you could do it till level 10, level 12, wow, you were the king of the class. Now I am asking the question, I can’t understand. I was such a good boy. I made 500 points in Time Out. Why shouldn't level 2 become easier? I did so nice. Give it to me easy. And everybody understands, The nicest prize I could give a kid after 500 points of success, give him a bigger challenge, give him a greater Nisayon. He should go through this challenge, and if he’s going to do this with success, the next prize will be even a bigger challenge. Rabosai, We are now in the Parshiyos of the Avos Hakedoshim. Sometimes we think to ourselves, You know, we know so little about the Avos Hakedoshim. Avraham Avinu. So many Parshiyos about Avraham Avinu. We don't even know, there’s not even one Medrash that describes what was the Seder Hayom of Avraham Avinu. What time did he wake up in the morning? Which Nusach did he daven? Nusach Sfard, Nusach Ashkenaz? What did he eat for breakfast? What did he learn? Which Masechta was he learning? How many hours a day did he learn? What did he do in the afternoon? Where was his shul? We don't know too many details on Avraham Avinu. You know what we know? We only know on Avraham Avinu ten stories. That's it. Asara Nisyonos, ten challenges, that's all. We don't even have one single story in the Torah from Avraham Avinu, sitting on the couch, resting, having a good time with his friends, having a good time with his family. Not on Avraham, not on Yitzchak, not on Yaakov. You know why not? Because it's none of our business. The Torah is telling us only stories of Nisyonos, because the Nisyonos of Avraham Avinu, the Nisyonos of Yitzchak and Yaakov, that's what made them to be Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov. These challenges are level 2, level 3. The Avos Hakedoshim were by level who knows what, we can't even imagine, that they became the Avos Hakedoshim. But we should know, we, in our life, every challenge that we have, that means Hashem trusted us with a new Nisayon, a new challenge. You know why? You’re up a level. It's not, Wow, I was in such a good place and now I fell back. You never fall back. You fall further. You go to level 3, level 4, level 5. We should know always, חזק חזק ונתחזק. נקומה ונעלה. We’re going only higher and higher.
