What Bracha do you make on smoothies?
So a smoothie is a drink, and therefore,
the Bracha is Shehakol. Even though it's made
with vegetables and fruit, because it's pureed,
it's made into a juice, so therefore, the
Bracha becomes Shehakol. On all drinks,
we make a Shehakol. Since the fruit no longer has
its appearance, it loses its, what we call Tzurat
HaPri, you can't see anymore what fruit it is,
it just now becomes a liquefied form of a banana
or a liquefied form of a strawberry, etc. So
therefore, even if it originally was a vegetable
or a fruit, the Bracha on the smoothie is now
Shehakol. If a person drinks it fast enough,
which would be Revi’it, a person drinks
about three ounces within a few seconds,
within let's say 10 seconds, then they
would make a Borei Nefashot on it as well.
