Warning from Retina Specialist Dr. Daniel Roth Regarding Solar Eclipse- The Lakewood Scoop

this is Dr Daniel Roth this coming Monday April 8th there will be a solar eclipse and although in New Jersey there will not be a total solar eclipse there'll be periods of time that reach 90% coverage and it's specifically during those times of partial solar eclipse that are the most concerning because looking at the Rays of the Sun as they emerge during the partial eclipse can be very damaging to the central retina and cause permanent vision loss even by looking at the sun for a few short moments it is really important that anyone looking at the eclipse should be wearing certified solar eclipse glasses more importantly children with or without those glasses of certain ages may not be reliable to not get curious and take off their glasses or look at the sun without glasses for that reason parents and teachers should be advised to keep children indoors and not have them outside during this time if they are at risk at looking at the sun without special solar eclipse glasses hopefully everybody will have a safe day that day and we won't see anybody with damage to their central vision which unfortunately sometimes is permanent because of the Nea of the solar eclipse that's coming our way I advise anybody who does want to look at it to obtain solar Clips glasses and only look at the solar E clips through those specialty glass specialized and certified glasses
