Tisha B'av: Connecting to Geula | Rabbi Nachum Binder

Tisha B’av. What does it mean to me? How do I find that feeling of emotion to mourn the state of Klal Yisroel for the last 2,000 years? How do I mourn something I never experienced, but I know that the Friedike Doros, the previous generations, did feel it? What's the difference, me and them? We say every day in davening, We ask the Ribono shel Olam that we should be able to see with our eyes the Geula, Binyan Beis HaMikdash, Melech HaMashiach. The Sefarim tells us that we're asking something very deep. We are asking that we should be zoche that our eyes should be the proper eyes, clean eyes, pure eyes, because those are the eyes that will be zoche to take in the Kedusha of Mashiach, of Beis HaMikdash, of Geula. Unfortunately, the generation we live in today is a generation that is plagued with unclean eyes, and the less clean our eyes become, the further removed we are from experiencing and feeling what Churban Beis HaMikdash is all about. מורי ורבותי, it's Tisha B’av. Each and every one of us are working on our Shemiras Einayim. We are working the entire year to cleanse our eyes and through that to purify our souls. Tisha B’av this year means a lot more to us than it meant in previous years, because this year, Tisha B’av, we have the eyes a little bit cleaner, a little bit purer, and through that, we can connect to what Beis HaMikdash is, what Geula is. Sitting on the floor, mourning Churban Beis HaMikdash, let us all raise our eyes with a Tefilla to the Ribono shel Olam, We should be zoche to continue purifying our eyes, to continue cleansing our eyes, and to have the proper eyes, to be zoche to witness בקרוב ביאת משיח צדקנו, במהרה בימינו, אמן.
