The True Child Prodigy - R' Moshe Rotberg

[Music] Rashm came to the shores of America in the early 1900s running away from the persecution of Europe. A tremendous Tam of some of the greatest terror leaders and he came to settle with his large family here in America. And unbeknownst to him, his children unfortunately slowly got integrated with the society. And before long, none of his children were religious. Sadly, a few generations later as they married into some of the most powerful, influential different families of America, it was sad to say that the majority of the family was no longer Jewish anymore. There was this one girl who was a famous successful child prodigy playing piano all over the world. This girl was the promise of the future of a family. Someone that was going to truly bring them to the highest levels. And this girl once Shabas finds herself in no other town than Lakewood, New Jersey by distant relatives. And incredibly she is so moved by what she sees there. She slowly embarks on a journey and eventually becomes religious and eventually gets married in a wall in Lakewood, New Jersey. And when I asked her what was it, HOW COULD IT be that most of your family are not even Jewish? How could it be that you would give up everything? And she said, "When I came to Lakewood, when I saw from people, I saw something I never saw in my life." She says to me what made me different always was the fact that I never felt comfortable with seeing the certain images and being exposed to certain things that everyone seemed to be indifferent about. It seemed to be something which cannot be changed. This is what the world's about. And I never felt comfortable when I came and I saw the concept of people controlling who they look at, who they speak to. That was something which blew me away. And I said I need to be part of this community.
