Dovid HaMelech says in Tehillim, We all know that Torah has in it נפלאות, things that are hidden, things that you don't see on first sight. We would think that if it's hidden, we need to find the place where it's hidden. But Dovid HaMelech doesn't seem to say so. He seems to say that the problem is with our eyes. The Torah’s נפלאות, the things that are hidden in Torah, are really openly apparent, but to the right set of eyes. And Dovid HaMelech is asking, Can we have that those eyes should open up? גל עיניי ואביטה נפלאות מתורתך. How do we open those eyes? Every Yid has two pairs of eyes. He has eyes that see the world around him, the materialistic world, the attractive world, the world that draws his eyes to want things that he sees. But we have behind those eyes another set of eyes. Those set of eyes see the Ribono shel Olam in the world, they see the נפלאות that are in our Torah. Those set of eyes need to be uncovered in order for us to find the נפלאות in Torah. Dovid HaMelech says to the Ribono shel Olam, Do me a favor, Ribono shel Olam, please uncover that set of eyes. How do we get that? When we close our eyes not to see the materialistic world around us, when we have those pair of eyes, that we have them under control, and we look away and we don't want to see the things that we shouldn't be seeing, then what happens is the other set of eyes, those eyes that see נפלאות מתורתך, those eyes open up. When the Ribono shel Olam sends us temptations to see things we shouldn't, they're just an invitation to see the sweetness of Torah. And by us closing those eyes and controlling those eyes, the Ribono shel Olam is inviting us to see נפלאות מתורתך.
