Insignificant Yet Significant | Rabbi Meir Simcha Sperling

Shalom U’bracha to everybody. I want to share an idea that perhaps can give us Chizuk when dealing with the Yetzer Hara of Shmiras Einayim. And it just shows the power, the fire of a person doing one simple action. A lot of times, we're walking down the street or we're in our offices or whatever it is, and there's a Nisayon that comes up, the Yetzer Hara says, Take a look! or whatever it is, and we control ourselves and we look down and we click the tally counter and we're good. And then after, we think to ourselves: Like, what did I do? I got another number? I looked down again. I made such a big difference in the world? Look what's going on in the world. Look at the people doing huge things. Finishing Shas, Chesed organizations, so many things going on. First of all, who am I? And secondly, what did I do? A little thing, I looked down one time. Such a big deal? What's the power of one insignificant action? So I want to share with you a Mashal that brings out the power of one insignificant action. Take your phone and go to Settings and take your little pinky, your little finger, right? Insignificant thing, right? Of course not. But you take your little pinky and you push the button that says Airplane Mode On or Wi-Fi Off or whatever the case is. One little tap, a tiny... barely an inch, and you just turned off all of internet. You now have no connection to billions of websites, billions of websites, and each website contains so much. If you're in the financial world or your business or this or that, you could lose so much, or you could gain so much by being connected, depending on how you look at it, obviously with the right filters. The idea is that one little touch of your finger can make all the difference in the world. I'm saying, imagine pushing the nuclear button, right? What did I do? All I did is push a little button, right? But now a nuclear missile is blowing up an entire country. You understand? So it really just depends on where that action is, but every single action, even the smallest thing, even though you think is insignificant, could be unbelievably significant, could have the biggest and largest effects, tremendous effects in the world. So by a phone, by technology, it's billions of websites. So maybe when you look down, when you control yourself, when we're doing things in the Ruchniyus world, we're also connecting to who knows how many worlds. What do you mean? All I did was I just looked down. I just controlled myself one time. It's such a big deal? And the answer is yes. You understand very clearly that one little touch of a finger, which is not a big deal, can disconnect billions of things, so maybe looking down could connect to billions of things. Rabosai, don't ever think that looking down or controlling yourself for another day, another hour, another Nisayon, is nothing. It's not nothing. It makes the biggest difference in the world, because every single action counts. Every single thing that we do for Hakadosh Baruch Hu, especially when it comes to the ultimate battle of our generation, every little, tiny move we make can make all the difference in the world. So Rabosai, let's be strong, let's not lose our passion, and let's continue, day in and day out, to make what seems to be small moves, but really, things that are changing the entire world.
