Dear Vayimaen friends from all over the world, There are many people who think that it’s impossible to guard one’s eyes in our generation. The Nisayon is too difficult. And it’s not only in guarding one’s eyes. Many Bochurim, many yungerleit think, Can I really be a Talmid Chacham? Shas, Poskim, Shleimus in Avodas Hashem, Teshuva, it seems impossible. The way one Bochur told me, Come with me to the bookcase. He shows me the entire Shas. He tells me: Rabbi, Brachos, Shabbos, Eiruvin, Psachim, Shkalim, Rosh Hashanah, Yuma, Sukkah, Beitzah, all of this in my brain? All of the Tosfos, Rif, Rosh, Rambam? It seems impossible. What is the answer to this question? R’ Shimshon zt”l would say he doesn’t understand, How can it be that the same Torah and Mitzvos that were given to the greatest of the Tanaim, R’ Shimon bar Yochai, R’ Akiva, R’ Tarfon, were given to us, too? Where am I, compared to R’ Shimon? The same Torah and Mitzvos? He would say, in his usual sweet way, I want to reveal a secret to you. Without Siyata D’shmaya, R’ Shimon can’t, either. R’ Tarfon also can’t, R’ Akiva also can’t. With Siyata D’shmaya, I can, too. You need to know there’s a whole world of Siyata D’shmaya and in this way, everyone is able to accomplish everything. I once heard a wonderful parable. A king brought his servants to a place where there were 50,000 stairs. He said: Whoever ascends these stairs within half an hour, it will be worth his while. The running experts said: Impossible. But the servants said: The king says so, let’s try. They started to run. So those who ran the fastest, after ten minutes reached 7,000, so many gave up. There were those who continued running for another five minutes, they reached 10,000, 10,500, they gave up. Except for one who continued running. Everyone shouted at him: Fool, stupid. Can’t you see that you won’t make it? And he continues running and it’s 20 minutes in, and there was an elevator. That was the whole point. And he arrived before the time was up and waved to all those who said to him: Fool, stupid. Because he received all the king had promised. I’m still standing with the Bochur by the bookcase, and I shout to him, There is an elevator! Not one elevator, there are a hundred elevators on the way, but they are hidden. From down at the bottom, you won’t see them. Show Hashem that you want. Show Hashem that you’re starting, once a day, twice a day, guard your eyes, strengthen yourself in learning, do Teshuva for something you need. Start. Show that you’re coming to purify yourself and pray for it and believe in Hashem that He has a whole world of elevators. Somebody told me that he was once at a funeral, and R’ Elya Lopian zt”l was present. He said that R’ Elya Lopian was walking along and across from him, came a group of immodest women. And he was wondering what would transpire. He says: When they were still far from R’ Elya, he sees suddenly, for an inexplicable reason, they crossed to the other side of the street. So he said: I saw the Siyata D’shmaya that he has, because he guards his eyes, so Hashem saves him. Hashem has all kinds of ways of Siyata D’shmaya, all kinds of elevators for each person, you should know, in any topic or matter. And you need to believe in it. Not to believe in our strengths, to believe in the Siyata D’shmaya, to believe that we can, because we have Siyata D’shmaya. And when you believe in the Siyata D’shmaya and you pray for it and you take an actual step, as one who comes to purify himself, you merit Siyata D’shmaya. And all the members of Vayimaen, all over the world, Bli Ayin Hara, Ken Yirbu, they want, in the way that one wants to go.
