Focusing on Hashem's Name | Rabbi Dov Keilson

With Hashem’s kindness, ever since my good friend, R’ Aharon Sapirman introduced me to the revolution of Vayimaen, about two years ago, I don't think I've missed watching even one. It has literally changed my life and I give a blessing to Vayimaen, Keep up the incredible service of Hashem. You are changing the entire Jewish people. The מעם לועז tells us that when a person goes to sleep at night, before he goes to sleep, he should stare at the name of Hashem, Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh, and that will protect him from all bad thoughts throughout the night. What is the understanding behind this mysterious מעם לועז? Perhaps it is as follows. The verse says in Yeshaya, Through Hashem, shall find righteousness and boast all the seed of Israel. R’ Avigdor Miller explains, based on the Rabeinu Yonah, that when a person thinks about Hashem, when a Jew contemplates on the Creator of the world, it makes him righteous, it makes him praiseworthy. I was thinking about this idea and perhaps we can take it to another dimension. The name Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh denotes that Hashem created the world and is in charge of the world. And it also denotes the fact that Hashem is full of compassion. I would like to share a story to explain what I'm trying to say. My Mechutan, R’ Eliyahu Dworetsky, in his incredible book, Power Points, shares an unbelievable story. Many years ago, there was a young boy, Meir Nosson Gross, that was coming home from Yeshiva and may Hashem have mercy, Rachmana Litzlan, he was hit by a bus and his Neshama was returned to the Creator of the world. That day, his Rebbi, R’ Baruch Erps, spoke at the funeral and he said, Meir Nosson came over to him during recess and he said, The boys are not letting me play with them. And he turns to Meir and he says: Meir, remember, Hashem is in charge and Hashem loves you. Meir Nosson went out to the boys and he said to them with all his heart, Hashem is in charge and Hashem loves me. A few hours later, he returned his Neshama. Said R’ Baruch Erps at the funeral, This young boy reached the level of awareness of Hashem that some people don't reach in a lifetime. He understood keenly that Hashem is in charge and Hashem loves me. When a person is faced with a Nisayon, which we all are, every day of our lives, if a person would take a moment to focus on the name of Hashem, close your eyes, I have placed Hashem before me constantly, because He is at my right hand, I will not falter, you don't understand how much protection and how much safeguarding that will give you to allow you to overcome that Nisayon, and remain pristine and pure.
