In the holy Torah it says, When you go out to war against your enemies, and you see horse and chariot, a people more numerous than you, you shall not be afraid of them, for Hashem, your God is with you, Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. The holy Or Hachaim and many Sefarim after him tell us that the Pasuk is talking about the Battle with the Yetzer Hara. When the person goes out to the Battle with the Yetzer Hara and the Yetzer Hara shows him his past, horse and chariot, a numerous people, you built ‘from you’, from your sins. You built a big army of harmful spirits, of forces of evil. And the Yetzer Hara is trying to tell you: Give up. You have no hope anymore. The holy Torah tells you: You shall not be afraid of them, you have nothing to be afraid of, for I am Hashem, your God, Who brought you up, the Aibishter picked you up from the land of Egypt, from ערוות הארץ, from 50 Gates of Impurity He took you out. When it comes to guarding your eyes, and you want to take a Kabbalah on yourself to become better, the Yetzer Hara tells you: You're going to become better? He reminds you of everything that you did already, and you saw this, you saw that, so it's not use to protect yourself anymore. You're not going to do anything anymore. Says the holy Torah: Yidden were in Egypt. Egypt was ערוות הארץ. Egypt was a land that was an impurity that we can't imagine. And the Aibishter took them out from 49 Gates of Impurity to 50 Gates of Holiness. A Yid knows that the Exodus from Egypt is eternal. We say every day, when we say the recitation of the Shema, the Exodus from Egypt. As it says in the book of the Tanya, A person has to believe that every single day he goes out of Egypt, and his past doesn't make any impression on his future. He's able to go out of any strait, of any position that he put himself into. It doesn't say: I am Hashem, Who brought you out. It says: Who brought you up. He picked you up, He elevated you out of the land of Egypt. So, too, every single person has the power to elevate himself, and to forget about his past, because we have to know that when we do Teshuva and we change our ways, the Rambam says, we become like a new person. You're a newborn. You don't remember your past. Your past doesn't exist. You can't even remind yourself of your past. That's how great the power of Teshuva is, that's how great the power of a Kabbalah is, and that's what a person has the ability to do, because we are Klal Yisroel, the children of Hakadosh Baruch Hu, and the Aibishter gave us an incredible opportunity, that we can become new people. That's the biggest encouragement that a person can have to take upon themselves from today to change, to become better, to live a different kind of life, and to bring spiritual pleasure to himself and spiritual pleasure to Hakadosh Baruch Hu.
