Bringing Simcha to the Aibishter | Rabbi Eliyohu Meir Schmeltzer

When the Vilna Gaon completed his monumental work, ספרא דצניעותא, a work containing many Kabbalistic themes, his two prized Talmidim, R’ Chaim Volozhiner and R’ Zalmele Volozhiner were learning through it. It is well known that in this work is hidden the date that משיח צדקנו will אם ירצה השם arrive, and it is only decipherable by piecing together different clues in the work, and it could only be deciphered by a great Tzaddik. The Vilna Gaon imposed a שבועה that anybody who does figure out the date may not reveal it. After R’ Chaim and R’ Zalmele went through it, and they discovered the date that Moshiach is coming, they got very worried. It's going so long off. And they approached the Vilna Gaon and asked the Vilna Gaon, What's going to be? Who's going to be left on the proper level, on a worthy level, to be able to greet משיח צדקנו? The דורות are פוחת והולך, the דורות are descending in level. Who is going to be here to be able to greet him? The Vilna Gaon said: You know something? Chazal asked that Kashe. R’ Chaim and R’ Zalmele immediately perused in their minds and scanned the entire Chazal, and they could not locate that Chazal. Said the Vilna Gaon, It's on the first page of תנא דבי אליהו. The first page of תנא דבי אליהו lists the virtues of the Aibishter, the Middos of HaKadosh Baruch Hu, and one of the Middos is that the Aibishter is a שמח בחלקו. What does it mean, שמח בחלקו? The entire world is the Aibishter's. What does that mean, He's happy with His lot? The whole world is His lot. Zogt the Vilna Gaon, שמח בחלקו means חלקו is The Aibishter’s חלק is Klal Yisroel. And the Aibishter is שמח בחלקו, the Aibishter is שמח with Klal Yisroel, whatever they do, whatever Mitzvah they perform, the Aibishter is happy with. Even if the generations will descend in level in Kedushah and Tahara, but whatever they have to offer the Aibishter is willing to accept. Any small act of Kedushah, any refusal, even if it's small, a tiny act, the Aibishter is מעיד in the תנא דבי אליהו, I am happy. In this דור, with these acts, I’m happy that Moshiach should be greeted by them. What greater thing is there than being משמח the Aibishter? And B’Ezer Hashem, with these small acts of Kedushah, we should be zoche that we will be the דור to be מקבל פני משיח צדקנו and make the Aibishter B’Simcha, since we are חלק נחלתו. אמן ואמן.
