Believing in the Impossible | Rabbi Yechiel Spero

So Yosef Hatzaddik is fighting the Yetzer Hara. Yosef Hatzaddik is challenging himself to overcome the temptations of Eishes Potiphar. And he refused. Where did he get the Koach from? Says the Medrash, He got the Koach because Yaakov Avinu also was an איש וימאן, he was also someone who refused. What did he refuse? When the brothers showed him the bloodied tunic, the כתונת of Yosef Hatzaddik, he refused to believe that Yosef was dead. Now, he wasn't the only one from Yosef’s parents who refuses, because Mama Rochel she, too, is a refuser. She refuses to be comforted on her children. What does that mean, that they refuse to be comforted? Imagine the following. The clock is ticking down during a basketball game, and it's gone down to five seconds, four, three, two, one. The clock reads 0:00. The game is over. Whatever the final score is, it's final. But what if you said, No, the game is not over. But look at the evidence. No, I refuse to believe that the game is over. Now that's impossible. Unless you're willing to believe in the impossible. Somebody is dead. There's no heartbeat. It's over. It's impossible for them to be living. But Yaakov refuses to believe in what he sees. He believes in the impossible. Rochel’s children in Galus for 2,000 years. The children are wayward, they're off the Derech, they’re lost. Rochel refuses to believe. She refuses to give in. She believes in the impossible. Yosef Hatzaddik’s children are faced with challenges every single day. It's impossible, isn't it? Yes. But Yosef learned from his parents. Believe in the impossible. Vayimaen? It's impossible. How could it be that there's 70,000 people across the globe who are being careful in Shmiras Einayim? The answer is we are children of those who believe in the impossible. And yes, we can continue to do it.
