Achieving Success in Life | Rabbi Doniel Osher Kleinman

Did you ever see anybody who's incredibly successful? They have everything in life. They have family, they have a business, their home is beautiful, they have friends, they’re healthy, they're happy. A life full of מנוחת הנפש, of tranquility, of success. A life full of Bracha. And some of us often wonder, we look at them and we ask ourselves, They must have done something. There must be a zchus somewhere that gave them all that Bracha. There was somebody in Jewish history who is known as one of the greatest Mutzlachim. He had of the most success possible, imaginable, in Jewish history. And that's Yosef HaTzaddik. Yosef HaTzaddik, albeit with his difficult beginnings, he became the leader of the entire world. He became incredibly wealthy. The pasuk says he had einiklach and ur einiklach, great grandchildren, who grew up on his lap. Yosef HaTzaddik, for much of his life, had it all. And Chazal ask the question: Why? Where did all that Bracha come from? How could it be that a person achieved and attained such success in such a miraculous manner? In Bereishis Rabbah, Chazal say on the pasuk, When Pharaoh put Yosef HaTzaddik on the royal chariot, Chazal say, HaKadosh Baruch Hu gave Yosef everything that was coming to him, that was rightfully coming to him. Yosef earned it rightfully. The mouth that he didn't use for an Aveira, Pharaoh said: Your mouth will now dictate what goes on in Mitzrayim. His legs that were not used to go to Aveira, the Medrash says, those legs will ride in a royal chariot. His neck that he didn't crane to look at an Aveira, he placed a beautiful royal necklace on his neck. Yosef, משלו נתנו לו, Chazal say. And we learn from here an incredible thing. Not only can a person earn incredible Bracha through their actions, but that every single detail is accounted for. Nothing, nothing at all, goes unnoticed. Yosef HaTzaddik got Schar for his mouth, for his neck, for his feet. For everything Yosef got Schar. Yosef earned it. It didn't come right away. It took a long time. But had Yosef not been Misgaber on his Nisayon, he would have maybe still been stuck in the house of Potiphar, leading a monotonous life, stuck in Mitzrayim. But by Yosef understanding that by pushing off the הנאה, the pleasure that he would get from indulging in something that was forbidden, Yosef merited that down the line, years later, he got an incredible Bracha. The next time you're walking down the street, you find yourself in a parking lot or standing by a Simcha, and there's something that enters your line of vision, remember this, You can take it now. You can continue living and enjoying whatever life you're leading. But remember, that you can also make a choice to take it later. You can also make the choice to tell yourself that no, I'm going to hold strong. I'm going to do the Ratzon Hashem. And by refusing to take it at that time, משלו יתנו לו you'll earn the greatest Bracha possible, later on in life. They'll give it to you later in the most magnificent fashion. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.
