Here's something fascinating. The word rebel can stand for two complete opposite things. It could mean Rosh Bnei Israel, the head of Bnei Israel, but those same letters also spell Rishonim ba'cheishech yidmu. Rishonim will be silenced in darkness. Rav Nachman leaves it there, but there's a powerful lesson. Not everyone who looks like a rebbe, talks like a rebbe, or gathers people around him is necessarily a real rebbe. A real rebbe brings you closer to Hashem and makes you work on your middos, become a better husband, father, friend, a better [music] yid. Then there are people offering you different kinds of spirituality, experiences, substance, >> [music] >> mystical shortcuts, things that can feel deep and powerful. But feeling spiritual and becoming closer to Hashem are not necessarily the same thing. >> [music] >> Rosh Bnei Israel or Rishonim ba'cheishech yidmu, don't judge a rebbe by how spiritual experience [music] feels. Judge him by where he's leading you.
