>> Okay, welcome everyone. Today is Arav
Roshesh
Adar
and of course every Arab rodesh is
called Yamiper Katon a day of Kipur and
this month we have Kipur and Kip and
Kipurim
because we are just two weeks away about
from the onset of Perm and so today is
the hopefully
the Kipper portion and And then we can
go straight in beginning tonight with
and it should be a joyous month. And I
want to just reflect um this on this
moment about
something that is very urgent that's
going on in the context of the para and
upon and also the context of the
previous conflicts that have engul
engulfed
Israel and Jewish people at the time of
PM in particular in our era. So let me
explain. All right. So
the
history of Israel and Jewish people
became unique
in 1949 with founding of state of Israel
and it immediately entered a very
difficult conflict known as the war of
liberation 19489
and it was soon thereafter that the
laberey was assumed the position in 195
50 of the seventh labure.
And it's interesting that those two
events kind of came together because the
Rebi would have a unique message that
was relevant to the newly developing
state of Israel that would carry on till
his demise, untimely demise in 1994,
but carries a message well beyond
not only into the 21st century but now
to this adar itself. I think it's
important to reflect and be aware of
what has transpired and what messages we
have in our parha and about the fact
that it is a month of Adar specifically
in the context of the fact that that a
decline has been issued. What am I
referring to? So the president of United
States met with recently uh Binyamin
Netanyahu
and they had a conversation about the
quote unquote
uh diplomatic efforts with Iran
and
and uh we don't know the exact content
of that conversation but one thing is
clear that President Trump came out and
said that there that they have a month.
A month now that was about a week ago.
So we are now entering into
the first week of keshadar. So that
means that when he speaks about you have
a month
that in that means that it won't be past
the end of Adar because since that
deadline was issued several days before
Roshesar we now know that the deadline
about quote unquote a decision whether
diplomacy is going to be the outcome and
there's going to be some sort of
arrangement made with Iran and who knows
what that entails. uh releasing some of
their assets, allowing the regime to
continue, allowing the support of the
terrorist groups that they use to point
and in the attempt to harm and destroy
Israel, which came to its peak on
October 7th uh 2 and a half years ago,
but has not stopped since then. So if
the deadline is in Adar, it behooves us
to take a little look at what Adar is
all about, what could in it inform us
about
trying to understand what Hashem is
messaging us with this and and how we
can best prepare for that arrival of
that deadline whenever it might be.
So the good news of course is that it's
the month of Adar which is an extremely
fortunate month for the for Ben Israel.
Um but it's also a month of contrasts.
It's also a month of near
misses uh of mortal danger and escape
from mortal danger. In other words,
lifethreatening danger. Think of the
story of Esther. She said, "Kasher,
I'll go to the I'll go to plead for the
very life of the Jewish people whose
decree had been as McGillah says
for termination, extermination
at the hands of Hmon, and it was sealed
and that was it. And when Esther
who is one of our prophetesses she's one
this is like the final prophetus she she
dav Hashem and she asked Hashem Kaye
Kali lama zapani famously why have you
abandoned us so to that according to
Saskar she got an unusual reply and I
want to share that with you was by way
of introduction we're going to talk
about a little bit about the context of
Adar are the le a tremendous lesson from
Paras Mishbatim, but also a quick review
of the wars of Purim, the conflicts
which go well before the Gulf War when
the Labra first began to
give messages to signal his positions
about how Kali Israel and Aratus Israel
should behave visav our mortal enemies.
those who would put us in mortal danger
which has been since of course the very
beginning of the state and never and has
never stopped.
So what does the benak teach us?
He says that
that he quotes an incredible incredible
drussia.
Um
there's a the medish quoting the medish
this is a euphemism why were the Jewish
people here we call them the enemies of
Israel because we don't even want to say
anything about shalom and we shouldn't
say that about we'll just speak about
the danger but we'll speak about the
salah not the not the actual reality of
that of those evil designs taking shape.
So, but she asked why is it that we're
we're in that decree of
as a prophetist she was told the answer
is
vash the Jewish people have become
mach worn out vash and impoverished
speaking about a powerlessness a lack of
power in spirit and a lack of financial
strength and they're downtrodden. The
Jewish people have gone down
tremendously
and as we spoke about they were they
were now in the mat of have been hand
handed off from Bavl to the conquering
power of Persia which you could see
conceptually and I I could explain this
to you. There are four golios but really
there are two and two ironically much
like the four cups of the seder. You
have two before the eating of the matzah
and then you have two afterwards. Okay?
One for burkoson and and one for nila
comes afterwards.
So
So really conceptually bail and persia
and paras are one gulus in two parts.
It's a two-part act but it's one play.
It's play number one. Play number two is
cup three, cup four which represents
Yavan and Rome. And these two are
intrinsically intertwined.
Okay? So when you think about Bavl and
Paras, think of them as a unit.
Okay? And when you think about Yavon and
Rome, our final golus in which we still
are remaining with a little help from
Ishmael, then we should think of it as a
unit. Now, why do I say that?
Because there's something very very
interesting.
Um, but first let's see the medish mak
means that now that you're in gullis,
you also two things. You became m and
you became rush. Mush means that your
mus has been crushed much like the word
me right also kind of is a couple
letters of the word of m but it's
crushed our mud was crushed
vir
is ro is um a uh reference to being
impoverished dolim rashim okay but at
the same time rash is has a connotation
of reishonne of of noise
as we spin on on perb. So but that was
the cryptic answer that she received.
The Jewish people are mach and rash
again two things. What was the answer?
So the medish says that in response to
that message Esther said a lama famous
words my god why have you abandoned me
to the 22nd psalm until here now what
does this mean it's a it's called a
medish plea it's a medish without
explanation until came along a great
makupal named bishimi astropalia he of
the famed letter that's often read by
people arv the seder night right which
by the way was the night that that
aashro did not sleep and within two days
h would be hung so there's that that
long connection between perm and pes
again two so it says he says I'll tell
you what this is going what's going on
over here okay
and of course died so we say
that I was killed by the Kakosio.
No, he explained that every Malik has
names of God that animate them.
And
that's their that's what makes them go.
That's their battery. That's their life
source
from the source of all life, which is
Hashem.
when some of those letters go missing,
right? Are plucked away, so to speak,
they go lifeless.
So if you have a malik, you can pull his
battery plug when you remove letters of
his divine name of the divine name of
Hashem that animates his messenger,
which is the Malik who Hashem sends for
various missions of every kind. So for
example
the name
one of the four that we speak about at
night when we go to sleep we entrust
ourselves into four malim um
Raphael right Gabriel and Nuriel those
are the formal that we entrust oursel
our souls to bedtime but Mael who is
like Hashem
is specifically the malik assigned to
the Jewish people. He is our aropus.
He is our um he is our defense attorney.
He speaks in the heavenly courts on
behalf of the Jewish people.
But what if Mikel and his various um
formats in a particular situation loses
the name of Hashem Alf
right? Lammed
kale. What would happen is is that he
would for you take out the word af
and you remove that which is what Esther
which is what Esther said. Kayla,
why have you abandoned me?
Well, what she's saying according to
astropolo is that has been reduced by
those three letters and what's left is
two letters mach. She said, "You
you you took the power pack away from
our defending Malik Mik by removing
Alfred and all I'm left with is
something mak something that's all worn
out and unuseful.
You uh discomforted him. You overturned
his power."
So similarly
similarly
uh the name Israel
Israel has also audit lammed right and
if you remove those three letters that
animate Israel which is the remember the
malik is the malik of Israel if you
destroy the malik of Israel or weaken
him or diminish him then Israel is by
similarly uh diminished so what happens
is if you Remove the letters alud from
the name Israel. You will get r and
shin. Shin and r. Spin it around. And
it's spells rash. Poor, impoverished,
weak, not able to stand on its own two
feet. That's what this what she said.
That's the secret of what Esther said.
Kaye kay lama zapani two times. How have
the three letters of alhammed and
alhammed abandoned me twice? for they
removed from the name of our archangel
Mel and also from our very own name of
Israel.
So
uh that's her complaint. What is Esther
hoping for? She wants a reversal.
She wants to to get Alfred Yud back so
that we will restore the name of Mikel
and hence restore the name Israel. Okay.
And he he elaborates this further but
for our intents and purposes that's
quite enough. Meaning that part of this
month of Purim is that we have a duality
like a purim kipurim yum kiper
and and and purim are almost the same.
Kipurim
tells us is like like purim. Like purim
zor says like purim. What does that
mean? Yum kipper's day of fasting and
chuva and perm's day of feasting. The
answer is yeah, but both are present.
There's a duality in Adar. On the one
hand,
life and enjoyment and simha. On the
other hand, mortal danger for which you
have to fast, do chuva and hope that the
divine decree that of any negative sense
be removed. That's what yamiper is all
about. So Pim they they are combined
because there's some sort of incredible
energy of the month of Adar to flip from
one side of the coin so to speak to the
other either we're going to be and by
the way more importantly that's how to
flip the coin that's how to retrieve the
alamud a lie mashem a lie instead of a
leaving it's a lie come back mashem a
lie Moshe said don't abandon Jewish
people come back. You can do it through
the same medium of yamipper which is
that is of course fasting, doning and
doing acts of specifically which is why
the purum holiday contains elements of
extreme sodaka beyond the normal
boundaries of sodaka. Usually with stuck
there is that govern the levels of
stuck. The rab counts eight different
levels of stuck. the highest which of
which is getting a person a job so they
can be self-supporting. Um and then
there's mat beser giving without knowing
who gave all kinds of levels of sedaka.
But on purim we're going to go in in
this month of way past that with
something called matanas levonim. I
personally sponsor a campaign for
matanosim which you will all find out
about on the day of perm which is a
hyperta which you don't even start to
distinguish between this one and that
one. You just give. You give without
seemingly
without any sort of thinking.
Anybody who opens their hand, you give
them. It's not even sodaka. It's
something way beyond sedaka. It's a
giving from a type of giving which
mirrors what Hashem has.
He has a treasure chest of deliverances
and and that are undeserved
undeserved treasures. You don't deserve
it. You didn't earn it. It doesn't
really belong to you. I'm going to give
it to you anyway.
So, we have to be smart enough to hit
that chord and say to Hashem, I'm not
domining you because I'm good. I'm not
ding to you because the Jewish people
are good. I'm not dominating you because
I'm your servant or the Jewish people
are your servants or the role we play or
the we've done or the mitzvah I
performed or the goodness that I that I
have achieved or the Torah learning and
the tum I've recited. No, I just want
you to open your treasury of unearned
gifts. That's the saddaka of Pum. There
in lies this secret of flipping flipping
around the the fish of Adar heads or
tails
and we can transform one to the other
using that lever. Hence the gammor and
migillah speaks long about what's coming
next week. Notice it goes roesh and then
zadar and then yudalid and adar. It goes
in three steps. Tomorrow which is roesh
is the first entry point to adar in one
week is zadar. the yards of Mosher
Abenu. In the next week is Perm. And
then for those of you in the know, the
following week exactly is the yard site
of the Herb of Mik of Lzens on the 21st
of Adar who is also a place where people
go to Davin and particularly for the
treasury of unearned gifts.
uh parasa
health uh from the children uh Yeshua's
for the Jewish people and we can speak a
lot about that maybe as we go later in
the month but
thus know that the the duality of Adar
means we go down to our lowest darkest
point but that dark point is the turning
point for the light that's exactly what
Adar is similarly
uh the fast of Esther which is the
reciprocal of the Yum Kipper experience
we're required to eat and feast in nice
clothes confident of our victory in
judgment and iniper we fast and we pull
out all the stops
da crying dabing giving saddaka comes
first the feast and then the fast here
in pum as we know the fast comes first
it's called tinus Esther even though
Esther fasted on what turned out to be
Pesak. She fasted Arab P. She fasted
through the Seder night. Did not eat on
the Seder. There was no seda that year
for Morai or the Jews of Shushan or for
Esther herself when her narrowa.
They said
uh Esther decreed three days fasting
because of the extreme danger. Not even
the seder knight, the mitzvah, the
central mitzvos of Jewish belief,
matzah, hagada,
um, morosas,
telling the story of mitime, the four
cups of gula. Uh-uh. The next cups would
be the cup she would hand to the hands
of
hoping to get him drunk enough that he
would lose his das
and turn on his own best advisor. H and
that's a little bit of the secret of ado
yada as well. We won't go into that
right now. So what is the theme? The
theme of the month of is when in extreme
danger a lot of extreme danger can come
to kal Israel at various times through
the offices of our arch enemies who want
to do what? They want to pull the alify
that animates MK and Israel and destroy
us. And that is a malik through an
average every generation ale.
That's why mullik our mortal enemy who
wishes to seek the destruction of Israel
and the Jewish people uh rears their
ugly head again and again in the story
of Pim and and just know one thing.
Um,
it's danger, but it's a danger that can
lead to an incredible victory. So, it's
very interesting to reflect on the fact
that Trump's so-called
deadline, and we'll see if it really
materializes, we don't know, has been
scheduled for the month of Adar because
it actually brings both things to the
forefront. On the one hand, we will
enter a period of extreme danger. We
don't know what will happen with the
attack with the attack
of uh if America attacks Iran then what
will Iran do in terms of attacking
Israel not only by itself but with its
proxies the Houthis and uh all its other
nefarious allies
we don't know but at the same time it
could come out a tremendous tremendous
victory and the b and the banishing of
evil Will the Alf rejuvenate us? Will
the Alfud
spark the revival of Mikel, our
archangel? And then and that and also
the banner of of the of of Israel. Okay.
So let me now before we get to an
association with parcels mishbatim which
will happen let me go back to some of
the events that occurred around purim
in the wars of what I'm going to call
paras.
So remember if you think of
Nebuchadnezzar the first one who
destroyed the temple and took us into
exile as part A and then the the uh the
medians and Persians who took over who
defeat Bavl and then take over the
control of Jewish people for many many
years okay into the period of the of the
second beta mdash until the Greeks
appear. So they're a unit, they're a
team. In contemporary terms, that
translates to two mortal enemies that we
have faced on perm. And that would be
i.e. Iraq and Saddam Hussein in the
Persian Gulf Wars. Notice Persian Gulf.
They call it the Gulf Wars. Everything.
What Gulf? It's like a like uh Trump
renamed the Gulf of Mexico into the Gulf
of America. It doesn't matter. Gulf.
This Gulf, that Gulf, doesn't matter.
It's a Gulf. So yeah, but but it has a
name, the Gulf of Persia.
Notice Persia, Parus.
That war, I would like to suggest, which
was in two parts.
One began on PM
and the first one, the second one began
on Perm, the first one ended on PM. If
you recall the history, and I'll just
spell it out for you a little bit if
you're not so familiar.
um
right after the fall of the Soviet Union
of the Berlin Wall, okay, which broke
open of course in 18 1990
post 1990 and then we go into 1991 and
the first Persian Gulf War. Let's
understand what's going on over here. It
was a time of extreme danger, but it was
also a time of extreme
uh breakthrough for the Jewish people.
I've said and I will remind you that the
year 1990
is specifically relevant to the gula
process because it represented the year
5750,
right? Uh that was uh 36 years ago. the
crossing point
between the last day,
in other words, the last 500 years of
possible Jewish history as expounded in
Rosar and Gammoras Sanhedrin Perik and
the first per is that our history is
that the world will be shabistic. It'll
be a total of 6,000 years ushering in a
period of shabas. Okay. Year 5750
represented entering the last quarter of
that final day. In other words, the
night began
uh in the year 240.
It ended 500 years later in the year
1740. The dawn of Aeros Chabis of Friday
was 1740.
and the katsos the midpoint of the final
day at which point shabas starts coming
very rapidly everybody knows when you
get to past noon on air of shabas you
get into gear if you didn't make your
kougal you better get cooking and you're
getting ready for shabas and some people
even are ready for make it their point
to be ready for shabas at katsos which
is highly highly commendable and ideal
but uh katsos threshold was passed in
1990 and that accelerated That's the
dawn. That's the dawn, right, of the f
of the of the of the that's the that we
we cross the noon. We cross the noon
point. And that means
that we're in hyperdrive. In 1990,
Soviet Union falls, releasing a flow of
a million Jews or more, which
transformed Israel into a technological
giant, ready to take advantage of the
newly opened internet, causing other
issues, but certainly it was the happy
ending of 30 years of intense struggle
to free Soviet Jews. Now Soviet Jews
could come to Israel or could openly
celebrate their religion either in
Russia and Germany, wherever they ended
up or Brighton Beach. Okay. But they
became rejoined to the Jewish people. We
got a boost. We got a little alfadud
power back. A lie. When they came back,
a good chunk of the Jewish people that
had been imprisoned in the deepest
deepest edomic e exiles became
associated with the land of Israel. to
such an extent that some people think
that uh Putin views Israel as a really a
Russian satellite country because so
much Russian is spoken here in Israel.
He's got a million plus uh citizens here
all carrying around Russian citizenship.
Most Jewish, many not Jewish, but
whichever it is, they're Russians. And
that happened at that turning point in
1990. But also simultaneously
the threats of Saddam Hussein and Saddam
Hussein
like Arab leaders before him going back
to 4849 or even 36 or even 29 1929 all
the way back to the father of
Palestinian terror uh the chic of
Jerusalem al- Husini the comrade of
Hitler.
Throughout this period, various Arab
leaders stood up and said, "We will
destroy, we will take the alf out of
Mikel and out of Israel.
But in a in the era of the speeding up
to redemption the post katsos post 1990
the first one who appears is the king of
Bav Babylonia
which is
none other than Iraq's Saddam Hussein
who threatened to destroy Israel if
anybody contended with his quick and
lightning fast devouring of Kuwait in
the summer in August of 1991. one
eventually what happens uh is that Bush
the first Bush the father organized a
coalition of forces and to from all
countries in the west and some Arab
countries as well
and said to Israel you don't do a thing
you sit by you're not a partner to this
we're going to take care of it and sure
enough they They
their objective was not to dethrone
Saddam Hussein. No, not at all. There
was just to get Kuwait from out out of
his belly to make him spit back Kuwait
and all its rich oil resources
and uh you know to restore that kingdom.
And that's what they do. And during that
period with Saddam Hussein from the
summer threatening to destroy Israel and
to throw on it chemical weapons, most of
the Jews in Erit Israel
all sat with with masks worrying that
the uh the uh you know chemical weapons
were going to appear, the Scud missiles
and so on.
But when asked the labi at the time said
Israel is a place where Hashem's eyes
are from the beginning of the of of of
the year till the end of the year.
There's no safer place to be than
Israel. These were all at the time
considered outrageous pronouncements.
They echoed the pronouncements that he
made in 1967 which is what thrust him
into the spotlight for world jury and
for the world in general. uh in the
during when the events of the of the
sixth day were became known that this
was going to be a protection and a
victory because MK is active and Israel
is active. They're not without the
alamud. They're activated and they're in
power and therefore Hashem is watching
us and we will not we will not succumb
or even terribly be damaged by these by
this mortal threat. Now, we know that 39
Scud missiles fell on Israel at that
time, corresponding to Lameitet. You
know that there's 39 lashes that a
person gets for violating various
mitzvos, including, for example, things
like eating not kosher, uh things like
like um viol uh you know, certain other
violations uh whether it's things that
you eat or things that you do that are
are not allowed to be done.
Misa there certain lavin that inquire
that that are relevant to an act. For
example, if you eat like one wiggly uh
centipede, you could be over as many as
eight loases. That's eight eight lashes.
Eight times 39. Anyway, but we got
lashed a little bit. But there was bas
there was damage to buildings, but
almost no casualties. In fact, there's
this amazing story that 200 people were
doveting in a shul. 200 people
dominating a shul and it was a direct
hit by a Scud and nobody died. They
thought by all rights, by any natural
order, they would have all been killed.
Now, if you think that the Scuds were
duds, you're wrong. Because another Scud
fell on on a US Army base.
It killed like 30 people and it wounded
90 people. Now if you would take 30 and
90, okay, three times that amount in
terms of just people being injured, I
mean injured is means really injured and
multiply that by 39,
you're going to get quite a high number
of deaths and casualties into the
hundreds and injured into the thousands.
So
you think the Scuds were nothing? No.
How could it be that that when there was
a fall on a synagogue of 200 people
doing that no one was hurt?
It can only be explained one way and
that's the way that the the
referenced he said to the detractors and
this goes back to 56. Let me explain.
The Reb's position was and always was
not to consider the events and wars of
the land of Israel as having to do with
anything seelic. Just like on PM when
you cancel the you drink the wine and
it's like ado I don't know what
morai we'll talk about that when we get
closer to PM what that really means but
he said
very big criticism of Israeli leaders
who after the 1956 remember he became
rebi 1950
1956 Sinai campaign for those of you who
are not necessarily Israeli
history buffs at that time. Uh, Gaml
Nasser, who would eventually attack,
lead the attack on Israel in ' 67 and be
completely defeated, closed the straits,
the um the Suez Canal as an act of war
and terror against Israel. and um what
he was trying to accomplish exactly uh
you have to look in the history books
but immediately France and England not
happy that their access to the far east
which ran through the Suez Canal I mean
that's a big chunk of their business
shipping etc
um was being closed partnered with
Israel gave Israel Mirage jets and all
sorts of weaponry and said come fight
with us and reclaim and they reclaimed
in lightning order the entire not
reclaimed but they conquered for the
first time in Israeli history the Sinai
Peninsula which they promptly forced
Israel to cough up
which was something that took great
issue with and and he was widely
critical about the quote unquote
diplomatic efforts to achieve peace and
security that involved surrendering the
entire the entire Sinai Peninsula and as
we know what would happen in ' 67 that
was a huge staging area for the attack
on Israel which is beyond belief. So two
there was a fellow I'm not going to
mention the name right now because I'll
come back with more information but I
think it was Schlloberg who was very
takenback about the reby's very overt
criticism of the then leaders of Israel
that they went along with a diplomatic
plan for security and he he called them
out and said the greatest security is
just being in Israel we should hold on
to the Sinaar peninsula and that will be
security and don't give an inch yet of
course they gave back everything. And
when this gentleman came to protest the
reby's stark criticism of the leaders of
Israel, which is unusual, know in the
50s, you know, Israel was still just
creeping out from under the the death of
the Holocaust and trying to just live a
little bit and trying to stay alive. And
here the Rebi was saying, "No, take a
bold stance. You don't have to give back
a thing. You don't have to commit any
diplomacy for securityurities purposes
which the United Nations forced Israel
down Israel's throats including America
including General Eisenhower
okay who knew better but that's another
story. So he said to this fellow and
this fellow came when Rebi was
distributing
um cake known as leak you know once a
year during sukus they would give out
the cake or sometimes perhaps on other
occasions and he came to the rebi says
I'm not taking the rebi's cake as is the
case of don't take the cake
he says because I'm angry with the rebi
that the rebi denounced the leaders of
Israel for seeking diplomatic path
towards security which the rebi promptly
says when it comes to Israel I do not
believe in diplomacy. There's no
diplomacy. There's no diplomacy when it
comes to Israel. We're in a different
category.
And he explained
if
Israel was a country like every other
country which is in ministers by by
Hashem's various angels and emissaries
that run those countries according to
the systems of law and order which
Hashem has set the world on its course.
Y and valila
that would be make sense to make some
sort of deal. But since Erit Israel is
under the direct supervision of Hashem
himself and whatever angels he employs
he employs not as managers and not as
governors but merely as shalim. Whereas
the management of the state of Israel
and all of its affairs comes all the way
up to the to the top desk to Bezon
Shamala
then in that case we are operating in a
system which is not your typical system.
It's the system of miracles and PUM is a
time of miracles and Adar is a unique
month for the Jewish people in which the
miracles of ER Israel are to leap from
matzah. that looks like it's the end
where kaye the letters are taken out to
where where they're fully operative and
restored and the arch angel of Israel is
champing our case in the best in Shamala
and we are protected from harm the rabbi
said our wars are not the wars of the
nations our people is not like any other
people radical position
compared to the rest of the Jewish
people without a doubt till today a very
radical position but the reby's position
and he has been proven right in many
almost I would say not uh not not 90%
100%.
that the impact, as he said, of the
quote unquote diplomatic solutions will
only create a myriad of problems much as
the Az negotiations led to much much
much bloodshed and problems and
surrenderings and the Palestinian
Authority becoming from a terrorist
organization that the entire world
denounced to a government of a state.
All of this was due to the diplomatic
path which the Rebi says is not the way
to go.
We deal directly with Hashem. Hence
called Salmon
when it was 1990 just before the and
Saddam Hussein was threatening the Rebi
issued an edict on error foreshhat of
1990 I guess it was 90 or 91 he said
half day fast
everybody give saddaka say tillum get
everybody organized the same thing that
Esther Malika said so many years ago and
that's it and don't make a big deal
about it I haven't seen
And sadly perhaps
any hint of our is state of Israel
declaring a day of unified fasting,
repentance and charity
and expressions of mus.
This is what we need.
And unfortunately
the agents the agency of conflict in
Israel has has been pouring gasoline
onto the fire and the quote unquote
uh unity of the Jewish people has become
um outright and dangerous conflict.
Literally people are are are are being
attacked in the streets on all sides.
And and primarily
and primarily it is the political
uh how shall I say forum that stokes the
division and the hatred and tries to
imbue us with values that are even more
liberal than the most liberal nations
which is not for us which is not for the
Jewish people. We are as we said we read
in part
we have to be a cut above and a cut
above doesn't mean secular above with
secular values. It means holy values the
holy nation and the utter holiness is
shalom between Jew and Jew. We must
stand up. uh was very enthused about the
fact that the leaders of the Karedi
world got up and condemned the terrible
uh outbreaks of hatred and hostility
that happened in Vene
and the secular government have declared
their interest in taking every Jew and
bring them to the army. And that has not
been the path of Torah and mitzvah in
the way of the Jewish people that we
didn't value Torah study in the land of
Israel. And at the same time, the Kedi
community has been dragged and has
allowed itself to a certain extent to be
part of a bitter conflict as opposed to
um
uh how should I say condemning
all acts of
antipathy, hatred or anger.
And I think that the today's declaration
goes a long way. And we'll see what
happens. And of course, it's so obvious
that when there's a will, there's a way.
Things that need to be discussed will
could be discussed and resolved
privately, but then again, people make
political gains and people make uh their
their um their providers happy.
They they do their of people who support
them financially and otherwise by sewing
discord and this is not helpful. This is
quite this will take
shalom the alif lammed letters out of
and is we must have them destroy from
being destroyed. We must have those
letters activated activated. And that's
only through unified prayer and
kindness. Unified prayer and kindness.
Uniform prayer and kindness.
Speak it out there. Don't go around
criticising any Jew. It's not your
business what they hold. It's not your
business what they believe. Just know
they're part of you and you can't live
without them.
May not like them personally. Even may
not like their ways to be sure. You can
never hate them in their persona because
is is a holy thing and has nothing to do
with the activities and deeds. It can
never be spoiled. So you have to look at
a person and say no matter what they do,
this is a holy soul. Doesn't matter
what. And we don't know what tunim
they're making and what role they're
playing. and and um certainly
akarattov to those who lay their lives
on the line so that we can have security
and at the same time we protect our
values and protect our integrity and do
not allow Torah to be um disgraced and
discarded and defiled. How do you pull
that off?
I don't know. But we keep talking and
that's a first step. do. We're diving
for it. We speak about it.
We We envision a a Israel today that's
united. We We've seen unfortunately
during the wars, I think in ' 67, there
was such aus that people still speak
about it, the love of every Jew for
another Jew when their lives were in
such mortal danger. Sometimes that's
what it takes to unify us
>> is the knowledge that
if we we're all in the same conundrum
ultimately our differences mel melt in
the eyes of our oppressors and therefore
we're all in this together and like it
or not we must find a way to um to bind
ourselves one to the other and that can
only be through a Israel's Daka and
viewing the other person positively and
behaving nobly and encouraging noble
behavior. Okay, that's what the asked
for. Okay, so given that this is the
situation, let's go back to what
happened in 1991. The Rebi declared a
fast
and knew that there was great danger
coming on Israel, but he advised
everybody who is either in Israel to
stay in Israel. Oh, and they have the
videos of him on the line where he's
giving out dollars and advising people.
He said, "If you're in Israel, stay. If
you're in in America and you want to
come, come. Do not be afraid. Hashem
will protect us from Saddam Hussein."
Incredible. Incredible promise. There's
a video I saw of of a regular American
religious family had a daughter here in
seminary and they came to the Reb for a
dollar. Should we bring our daughter
home? This is getting dangerous. So he
says no. But the mother said, "But she
has a semester break." In other words,
it's not going to be school's going to
be closed for two weeks. So go. So the
said to her, he said, "Yeah, but she can
go around us and learn many things.
There's so much to learn in
I guess there's shurim, there's this,
there's that, there's opportunities." He
says, "And you should go too." And the
woman the woman was just flabbergasted
like she couldn't imagine why the rebby
would tell her not to pull their
daughter back. There's no school.
There's nothing going on. She couldn't
process it. She just kind of went away
with her mouth open. And the reb was
very adamant. And um so it was 39 Scuds
fell and there was only one fatality.
And apparently that person was a very
very diplomatic person who was in a very
difficult person who was in some sort of
and um was not really uh was was a
dangerous person into the community
and he did not have the of the
protection.
But
as the Israeli leaders said at that
time, we can always build rebuild
houses, but we cannot restore lives. And
that's the miracles that we're seeing.
So that takes us to Purim 1991,
right? When the war the first Gulf war
against to to make Saddam Hussein cough
up Kuwait ended on Purum. Fast forward
to the year
2003.
Okay. Perm
war
again begins
begins. What stopped on perm 1991
resumes on perm of 2003 because now
we're talking not getting Iraq out of
Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait but getting
Saddam Hussein out of Iraq out of
Bville. And of course we know that a
while later
this was a reaction to uh Bush II's
uh you know 911 nine you know the events
of of September 11th 2001 and eventually
the whole thing schle out and and uh it
starts pumm
and and it ends on a unique day when
they discover Saddam Hussein overgrown
the with you know disheveled and hiding
in a little little hole in the
underground. Can you imagine the this
man of a tremendous power reduced to a
little square underneath the ground in
which they found him utterly humiliated?
He gets up and he says, "I'm Saddam
Hussein and I'm pro Palestine." And he
made all these decorations. In the
middle of all his decorations and
prayers, the rope went and he followed
Hammon's route to the gallows.
And what was that date? 19th of Kisv, a
day that's celebrated
as the liberation
of uh one of the original Kabad rabbis
from the prisons of the Soviet Union, a
day that the Jews escaped mortal danger.
Significant day. So the Persian Gulf,
Bavl,
Persia, Iran, Paras, they're a team.
Wouldn't it be something? Wouldn't it be
something symmetric and poetic now that
Trump has declared that somehow in the
month of Adar all this needs to be
resolved? I didn't make that up. That's
what he said. He didn't want to do it in
Shvat. He said, "Let's wait a month to
the month of Adar." Could it be
that history is repeating itself once
again? We're the partner of Bavl. Paras
in the first stages of the Jewish exile
prior to Greece Rome uh is now
completely
uh removed from power. Is that possible?
It's definitely possible. What does it
depend on a what does our safety depend
on? Well, Rebi said
fast help other Jews be united with
Hashem. That's where we would stand the
greatest chance to be spared from harm
once again and the Reby's general
approach that
not to be afraid not to be afraid but to
be proud and kind. Now it is true that
in the first in the in the Gulf War Bush
I the first told Israel do nothing which
is what it says in the A shimoni that
the the war of the worlds will happen.
Saudi Arabia and and their team against
Iran and their team with the United
States coming in Edom to help and this
is the stage that we've been seeing and
that we might not do anything. So we
just you know chill, relax, dive and
learn, give some saddaka
and uh whereas in PUM we had to take
Madison's our own hands
and certainly we've done we've seen the
need to do that but who knows what our
what our role is and hopefully that same
pattern will emerge. Again, just simply
stated the uh the patterns of the
Persian Gulf and Persian war gulos paras
uh seem ironically resonant. Am I
hearing echoes of those wars? We shall
see. I did want to share with you
something about parish
as it just to end very quickly
that we find
and a whole list of rules. The laws of
slavery, the laws of damages, the laws
of shity of people watching other
objects, laws of laws of everything
between man and his fellow man. And
theor say an elaboration on lo said in
in the ten commandments. Don't get
involved with other people's stuff.
Well, what does that mean? What happens
if you damage? What hap what's yours and
what's not yours? What's the restitution
you need to make or that they need to
make to you? All of the laws that
straighten out the
are referred to in this section called
there's one problem here
that the para then continues and
according to rash it happened before mat
tora but if you learn like other other
and other that this was a sequence ten
commandments
and then comes the idea of
we're approaching the issue of building
the Mishkan this week's para truma
we're going to start to build basics but
in between we have paraim and a bris
that's made between the Jewish people
where they say nasa once they say nasa
once they say nasa minishma and then
there was a safer harris there was a
book that says this is the book this is
the pre-orra this is the protoorra this
is the first sections of the Torah that
I'm giving you and no one says that
veishim were part of it except one far I
found. Wouldn't it be part of it? He
just read the whole long story of all
the laws between
and when you make the bris with the
Jewish people right after the right
after the hearing of the dibbros and
then Moshe is going to go up extensively
and get the first lucos
and you got to buy in. Everybody has to
buy in and he put up 12 stones and he
made carbonos and half the blood on the
altars, half the blood on sprinkled
towards the Jewish people and all 12
tribes. Why wouldn't you put those
teachings of Alamishbatim into the book?
What does the book contain accuracious
the original mitzvah of mankind
including brisma to aim and then all the
way through what they learned in Mara a
little bit about shabas here and there.
What happened to Mishbatim? Why isn't
Mishbatim the elaboration of the Asera
dibbros the elaboration of loaf mode
included in the book? I don't get it.
Doesn't make sense.
And I think what it is according to
almost everybody, every mafarish is that
Moshe was given this information
to tell the Jewish people, if you're
going to do this, this is your
precondition to getting my presence
among you. In other words, if you're
going to be, imagine a groom comes to
take a bride. Jewish people the bride,
Hashem's the groom. You I want to give
you the luos. The lus seals the deal. We
already wrote the tanoyim. The tanoyim
was the sabra. Now I'm going to go up
the l that's kaduc that's the ring and
then we're going to consummate the
marriage between hashem and the Jewish
people. We spoken it about all the
principles and said and now we're going
to get down to the brass tax. And Moshe
is told just know one thing. Tell them
it says at departes is he says I'm up
here in I don't want to be in shm
anymore.
He says, "I want to be with you."
Right? You should build a build a
Mishkanti,
which is what we're going to read about
this week. How's that going to be? Well,
imagine a groom comes to check out, you
know, a date date his perspective wife
or to meet his perspective wife. She
didn't take a shower. She's all dirty.
She didn't do her hair, right? She's
barefoot. she's uh you know uh
loa
not adorned not beautified not anything
the groom's going to say well you know
wonderful Jewish girl but isn't this a
special occasion of expression of love
wouldn't that mean that you should adorn
yourself some say that 24 books of
Tanakal tell us are the 24 kishut kala
this is actually something that we had
referenced previous this is based in nvi
that the adornments of the kala adorn
yourself, adorn yourself, lift yourself.
You're going to you know you know how to
make sure that the kala is ready. The
kala has to have a peace in her home and
everybody filled with love and that's
you want my presence then you must get
along with each other. That's not what's
in the book of the bris but that's
what's going to create the conditions
for me to be with you to fulfill the
bris.
Much like Israel told Mosher Rabenu, you
can't have this system where everybody's
coming up to you with all their problems
and their fights and they're fighting
over money and they're fighting over he
got more from the he took more from the
Yamsu the tell us and this one says the
the Mitzim who converted they said the
money is ours because they're fighting
over everything. Listen make captains of
tens and 50s and hundreds and thousands
I told you so that we make peace on the
low level before it becomes a problem.
contain it in groups of 10 that can talk
about their problems. Have a support
group, right? And then their jealousies
and their angers and their injustices
can be aired out there on that level on
the level of tens on the levels of which
is exorbitant which is exaggerated the
levels of 50s the level of hundreds.
It's never going to get to you mosherenu
because we will root out
we will root out the lack of obvious
before it ever gets to you and that's
what you got to do. Israel said was
reiterated again here in Alamishbatim.
If people, this is how you're going to
do it. This is the system you have to
put into place that there'll be peace
between Jew and Jew.
by reading and now getting through this
time we should take the message
comes with a precondition and that is
the love of a fellow juke is
and uh we need to elevate our game and
we need to really work on our own I'll
add to this from a psychological point
of view negative thoughts about
ourselves negative thoughts about others
you got to convert your brain into a
positive brain and look as Aman says on
the good side. This was referring to our
children, to our spouses, to another
Jew, to Hashem and to ourselves and most
most of all very very very hard task.
This is the bitterness of the amalachite
ha husk which is
parro hama never had enough never was
happy had the whole world at his feet
but one Jew didn't bow down to him and
he was enraged with jealousy
we got to rid it out of ourselves and
become positive happy earth people
easier said than done But imperative so
we can come together basima and
hopefully another adar of miracles. Have
a wonderful wonderful kodes.
Bye now.
