True Inner Essence of Torah

what does that look like that that image of not perfection but that growth that beneath us outside sometimes we sometimes limit that to the people who are perhaps studying torah or the people who are teaching torah but what does that look like for the everybody what what is what is every human being is blessed with us it's a basic requirement of adulthood is to be a bandass is to be a person who has a mind who has thought who's able to think for themselves we value the wisdom of torah scholars not just because they're able to cite a specific chapter or a specific verse to answer a particular question which is of course something which is invaluable i have a question about the kashrut of something i have a question about any specific halachic matter you know i can't just you know do that by myself necessarily if i'm not if i'm not as well versed but there's an overall belief which is huge and significant and it informs each of us in our pursuit of the study of torah and that is that torah is god's mind it's not just god's specific instructions it's god's mind das elokim timsa it's not a phrase that we make up or we turn us off the wisdom of god god's mind you will find but you know when we speak to someone and we have a friendship with someone i always say the example is rav yashi bersel of the rav used to speak about it who ascends to the level of married to to the torah and when you're married to someone for long enough you finish each other's sentences you know what the other one is thinking and the immersion and torah study is supposed to help form the way we think form our values and allow us to know how god would finish the sentence what god would say now again it's not some kind of presumptuous i'm speaking to in the name of god god came to me and told me but there's a way of thinking there is a way of thinking which is what we want informed by the total scholar by the discussion with the torah scholar which more than anything else when we pursue our own torah study we wanted to become part of ourselves is that something you think is really attainable by the regular person it's not it's not a binary thing that either you have it or you don't our goal is to grow it within ourselves to grow torah values torah sensitivities and that's absolutely attainable by anybody of course mastery is also attainable by everybody morocco it's there for everybody but we understand some may have the limitations of time and space to be able life space to be able to do it but it's everybody's goal to grow that within themselves it's not just everybody's goal it's everybody's it's everybody's real responsibility it's everybody's mission that's what it means when a human being's supposed to be in god's image it's not that we have his nose ears eyes and mouth it's that we're like him we're and you don't have his midos you don't have his character traits if you don't have his way of thinking in his value system that's what we obtain organically and naturally through the study of torah [Music] you
