The captain of the plane was a hero. He
somehow marshaled the strength to open
the door that is designed to prevent
passengers from reaching the cockpit.
But it would be this one instance when
passengers desperately needed to get
into that cockpit to rescue the plane
from a terrorist who was a pilot. Maybe
they got lucky. Just roll the dice
enough times and it'll come up. We have
a holy book like that. The book of
Esther. the king killing his queen. That
wasn't the first time it occurred in
history and it won't be the last. Morai
was a poly linguist. He overheard an
assassination plot. That was not the
first time someone plotted to kill a
king.
It wouldn't be the last. And he was at
the right place at the right time and
was able to give over the warning. And
he gained favor with the king. Esther
must have been beautiful. Alkashes took
a liking to her.
In the end, Hmon who sought to destroy
the Jewish people.
He and those who plotted with him were
all executed on the very gallows that
were intended the Jewish people. The
book of Esther is very striking because
God's name is nowhere to be found
explicitly in the text.
One could say
that too was serendipity, chance, a lot.
In fact, that's what the name pura
means. It's just a lot.
And you just won the lottery when all
the points intersect exactly at the
right place. And the key of that
generation was that they were able to
view all these events and go, "No,
God is behind all of it." And I
recognize him and I accept him.
is my only lord, my only king. And I
know you're there behind these events.
I know what just occurred appeared to be
amazing fortune that a plumber could
pilot a plane from a nose dive and pull
the yolk just perfectly got lucky.
Or was God behind it all after all? And
that's the role of our generation. The
role of our generation is to look at
these events and go this is the hand of
God. And just like the name of God
doesn't appear in the book of Esther but
the name is very much hidden in the
words of the book of Esther he's there
just look a little closer. And unlike
the event at Mount Si when God reveals
himself completely here God is hiding
behind the characters. He was then and
he is today. One could attribute the
events that are happening here in the
land of Israel. Look, a tenacious people
desperate emerging from the ashes of
Ashit somehow return after thousands of
years.
Or maybe it was a promise.
Maybe Jeremiah 30:3 is the word of God
and God is keeping the promise that he
made to his people
to a prophet who walked these streets.
Jeremiah did
so did Isaiah who tells about a nation
that would be gathered in Isaiah 43.
>> The waters won't harm you.
The fire will not burn you.
I will call to the north, give up, the
south, even to the ends of the earth.
I'll bring you back to this place.
Isaiah preached right here.
So did Sofana who spoke about a time
when all the nations would know and
would speak of one accord and they would
speak Mafa buro in a pure speech. And
Ezekiel,
he told of a time that the nation would
return
a valley of dry bones. Did he say
the god was alone? These bones can live.
This is the nation of Israel. This is
the promise.
A sages tell us that in the messianic
age, the books that will be studied are
of course the five books of Moses and
the book of Esther. What about Isaiah,
the eternal word of God? But imagine for
a moment.
It could be days away,
weeks away, months away, God forbid.
But when it all happens,
would we really be exploring Isaiah
chapter 1,
where we're told that the way Jerusalem
will be redeemed is through justice and
repentance. Verse 27.
looking forward to a time when the world
will be restored and this is what you
need to do. Well, while those oracles
are sacred of the word of God in the
messianic age, it already happened.
But that book of Esther we poured over
in the messianic age. Why
is not the book of Esther the blueprint
for the messianic age?
But God is acting behind actors and
behind characters.
One could attribute the fortune event to
a lot a purim,
good luck and serendipity where fortune
comes together.
But no,
in the messianic age, we see that God is
behind all the characters.
He's there. He's just dressed up as
others.
We're living in a remarkable time.
Ezekiel provides us with an enormous
amount of saturated information about
the messianic age that's unfolding now.
He makes it clear that it'll occur in
real time where the nations will see the
glory of God.
Ezekiel 39:21.
In the ancient world, if there was a war
going on in southwestern Asia, that's
what we are, people wouldn't know about
in Southeastern Asia,
for a very long time.
It would take years for that kind of
information to get out. Oh no. [snorts]
In the messianic age,
all the nations will know. They'll be
watching this war more than any other.
the nation of Israel.
What do we do now? That war occurs.
We're told in Ezekiel 39:22,
so the children of Israel will know that
I am Lord. What's the reason for it?
Look at the end of Ezekiel 38. So all
the world will know. And all the nations
will bend their knee only to the true
God. And every tongue will only swear in
his name.
That's the moment we're prepared for.
In order to accomplish that task, you
have to recognize the events that are
unfolding very rapidly and recognize
that what the miracle in the sky
is not an accident. It's not good
fortune,
not the winning of a lottery. It's the
hand of God who's acting in the clouds
of heaven
as the Messiah comes. the ancient of
days.
Now we turn to him [music] alone.
This long night,
this long exile,
it's coming to an end.
And the morning is coming.
Arise and shine, for your light is come.
[music] Kings will go by your light.
Are you prepared to gaze at the events
that are unfolding now and recognize
that God is behind it all?
Are you ready?
Shalom.
