There there are no manuscripts of the
book of Revelation, Hebrew. There are
none of those things. I mean, I'm
talking from the ancient world. Why
would you even suggest that? I don't
understand why.
>> Uh John the Apostle, son of Zebedee,
brother of James, called the son of
thunder. And James and John were uh
Jesus's brothers.
>> What's your source that the book of
Revelation
was written in Hebrew?
>> Uh Michael RDE.
Okay. Uh Kevin from Florida, you are
live on the air. Go ahead with your
question.
>> Okay. Um well uh Revelation uh was
originally written in uh Hebrew and uh
the revelation of Yeshua. And you are
correct. It was you know written in the
90 AD era by Johannan. And um I was just
curious as you talking about, you know,
the Hebrew Bible. Why wouldn't you
consider Revelation being part of the
Hebrew Bible?
>> What's your source that the book of
Revelation
was written in Hebrew?
>> Uh Michael RDE,
>> who cares? What is your evidence that
the book of Revel I'm asking you what
I'm not asking you what somebody else
said. I'm asking you what is the
evidence. The book of Revelation was
originally written in Greek. That's why
he's using um alpha omega. But what's
the evidence? Go ahead.
>> Hang on. So Johannan wrote the book of
John in the Gospels in Hebrew and then
he wrote Revelation in Greek. That
doesn't make sense.
>> Uh could you explain this? So a man
named John wrote the book of Revelation.
Where's Johan?
>> Who's your you talking about the author
of the book of John? like the fourth
gospel.
>> Is that what you mean? I Okay, you're
saying that the same person who wrote
the fourth gospel is also the author of
the book of Revelation. I just want to
There's not a catch. Just want to know
what you're saying.
>> Yes. I don't and I I want to also say I
don't believe in replacement theology.
>> Let's forget that. It's not a part of
the Let's just stay focused here.
>> Yes. What is your evidence that John
wrote the book of John? Like what what's
your basis for that?
>> Uh well uh Michael RDE uh from Arude
Awakening. Um it's uh he he's uh
>> but I'm asking you textual evidence,
>> sir.
>> Yeah, I got it. What's your textual
evidence? I'm not asking you about what
another Christian said.
>> What is evidence?
>> Pull my Bible out.
All right.
>> Uh, yes. The Apostle John was the book
uh author of Revelation. So, you want me
to know that?
>> I'm asking how you know that.
>> Uh,
it's uh just
>> what my study Bible says.
>> Do you understand? You're making
fantastic claims and you have I I for
I'm sure you're a nice man and I'm sure
you're you're pro-Israel and certainly I
don't mean this personally, but you're
making fantastic claims and I just ask
you what's support. You're telling me
there's a person that you enjoy watching
and that person said so. And what I
would do is I'd encourage you to go back
to the sources and look for sources.
There there are no manuscripts of the
book of Revelation, Hebrew. Um there are
none of those things. I mean, I'm
talking from the ancient world. Why
would you even suggest that? I don't
understand why that.
>> Uh John the Apostle, son of Zebedee,
brother of James, called the son of
thunder. And James and John were uh
Jesus's brothers. And I I believe I
believe they were Jesus's brothers,
which Jesus name was Yeshua, of course.
uh brothers as in like uh um the man
that Mary uh w Joseph the man that Mary
was with quote unquote
>> I believe they were his sons already
>> and uh
>> you you're mixing up people here and
people get confused about this I I just
wonder yeah you are John would be the
son of Zebedee it would be someone
different
>> let me just say this to you I say just
always go back to the original sources.
Don't believe anything I say. And thank
you for your question.
Don't believe anything anybody else
says,
but rather if you see somebody making a
claim,
just like for me, if you're watching me,
just anything I say, what do I always
tell my viewers? Look it up for
yourself. But if you like me, don't let
that get in the way. Don't like me.
Like, forget that. Just look it up for
yourself. No matter which side you're
on, look up everything I'm saying. That
the book of Revelation was originally
written in Hebrew. That's just silly.
That just complete nonsense. Now, was
the do we know the name of the book of
Revelation? Well, the author claims to
be John
from Potmos, and I'm going to be very
charitable and just say I take his word
for his name was John, which would have
been a popular name at the time, but
that doesn't extend anywhere. That does
not mean he's the author of the fourth
gospel. And incidentally, a great many,
many, many church fathers agree with me.
a great many I mean there's a reason why
Luther was um suspected the book of
revelation for not
being as important or significant as
authoritative as other books in the
Christian Bible and he sort of kind of
appendixed it. This is a very
questionable book but to say it was
originally written in Hebrew of course
not. Now, was the author of the book of
Revelation
very aware of texts in Tanakh? For sure
he was. He had it in no doubt in front
of him because he was quoting it up and
down. He's but he's quoting it in Greek.
He's not quoting it in Hebrew. But there
are many um
there's imagery in Tanakh particularly
in Zechariah and so on that he is using
in order to advance a christologology
that doesn't mean he wrote it in Hebrew
doesn't mean any there's no it doesn't
there's no reason to believe any of
these things none at all that the author
of the fourth gospel was written by John
who is would not have been a brother or
soner of Jesus is by Christ. You're
making a mistake on this. That we don't
know. That's a that's a Christian Roman
Catholic tradition that John is the
author of the fourth gospel. Christians
came to be persuaded by that. And
I don't believe anyone prior to Erynaeus
who was the archbishop of Leyon, Roman
Catholic right down the line. Okay? I
mean there's Catholic there's a Vatican
religion
I don't think anyone prior to um to
Irenaeus that well I'm dating place the
date 180 there I don't think anybody
assigned the fourth gospel to John the
son of Zebedee prior to him I'm not
aware of one
um he now it's not that the book of John
didn't exist prior to Irene it
definitely did because it was quoted by
people before him by the antonyian
church fathers of course they knew about
John and and Papius talks so on but it's
really second century stuff that John
authored the book of John that it was
any of this stuff was written in Hebrew
that's com that's just nonsensical
there's no reason to believe that and
whoever is making those claims these are
fatuous claims that are I don't know
what to tell you it doesn't matter
whatever
whatever is saying but I I ask you not
to read the pages in a Christian Bible
that introduce the book of John for
information about John you get yourself
in a lot of trouble doing that just read
the text
um insert
second century ideas about the
authorship of books in the New Testament
into the text itself. There's nowhere in
the book of John that would there's
nothing in the book of John that would
indicate that John wrote it. And one
could make the case that in fact the
book of John conveys that it wasn't
written by John. But we're not going to
go that far. The book of Revelation was
definitely not written in Hebrew. It was
written in coin and Greek. and but the
author was familiar with a text like
Zachchariah that he quoted from. Thank
you for your question. If you enjoyed
