The writers of the New Testament did not believe that Jesus was God. There's a zero places in the Christian Bible where Jesus says, "I am God." He never says that. Conversely, he says that the Father is greater than I am, John 14. He says, "I can do nothing of my own, but only the one who sent me." John chapter 5, verse 30. This is eternal life they may know thee. This is I should give you the context. This is the longest discourse in the entire New Testament. It's called the farewell discourse, which extends from John uh 13 to John 17. This is eternal life they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, who you sent. He says to Mary in John chapter 20, when she wants to hold him, she says, "Don't touch me cuz I have not ascended to to to my God or your God." He clearly is making that distinction. We have a zero places in the Christian Bible where Jesus says, "I am God." That is a later development of the church. It's not that late, which means Ignatius is already is declaring that Jesus is God, and then all hell breaks loose, pun intended, how that's possible, cuz if Jesus is God and the Father is God, then you have two gods. So, the church is going to try to solve this. And the person who coined the term Trinity is Tertullian, a a thinker from Carthage, who invented and he doesn't believe in it. He believes that Jesus was created. So, actually says no in the Christian Bible that Jesus is God. It explicitly in the New Testament says that Jesus only does He says, "God, why did you forsake me?" What do you mean? That's called a cry of dereliction. Now, it's actually it's a copy paste from Psalm 22. King David is saying that, speaking about himself. He felt alone. And he said, "I feel forsaken." And if you study David's life, every everybody close to him betrayed him. His wife, his father-in-law, his best friend, and he felt alone in the world. So, they have Jesus there, but what who's he talking to? Did he mean it? Is it rhetorical? What do you So, it's very very clear, and only thing Christians can do is infer from some text that this means the Trinity. And And in fact, I'll tell you crazy thing if I'm I don't know how much you want. So, there is one passage in the Christian Bible, in the in the First Epistle of John. That's not the Book of John, but the First Epistle of John, chapter 5, verse 7, where you have the doctrine of the Trinity. But, it was a later invention. It wasn't originally there. It was interpolated later. It was invented by in the 8th century, and Erasmus, who was a really a brilliant scholar. He's the first person to ever publish the New Testament in the early 16th century, very early, 1516. He's going through all the Greek manuscripts. We talked about Reuchlin supplies six of them. He's going to Basel to look at manuscripts, and they wanted to Who's going to get it out first? So, it was a race. But, he notices that 1 John 5:7, that these three are one, is not any Greek manuscript. He leaves it out. All hell breaks loose in the church. Why'd you leave it out? You must be a secret Unitarian. So, it's not in the Christian Bible. It's a later Christian invention, and it develops. And as it turns out, throughout all the councils of the church, Nicaea, Ephesus, all of them, they all are fighting over the issue of what is the nature of Jesus. And the church The Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church to this day doesn't agree on the doctrine of the Trinity. Just as the church has a wide It's the most variegated religion on the planet by far. So, there is a Unitarian movement among Christians that do not believe in the doctrine of the Trinity. And those of you who watch me see me do shows with Unitarian scholars. Like Tuggy. I mean, these are guys who really know their stuff, okay? They do not believe in the Trinity at all. They Now, there're not that many of them. Let's say there're 5 million of them. Maybe there're 1/2 million Christadelphians. Let's say there're 6 million Unitarians that don't believe in it all. The J Witnesses don't believe in it at all. So, therefore, in corresponding to that there are Unitarian Messianics. But be very careful because many of you say I don't believe in the Trinity but it's but they believe that Jesus was God and they believe in a modalism or a Sabellianism. I don't want to overload you. So, in the church they tried to solve this with and there were many that were considered heresies. So, they'll adopt that. So, you got to say nice push. So, you're saying this is how you would do it. You're saying there was a point time the Father existed and the Son did not exist and he's created. If he if that person who I don't know says yes, so that person is a real Unitarian. That person's means he's a created being, he's not God. They're >> But well, is that is that a viable approach to say that there can be a Unitarian thing mixed with or in compliance with Torah? Cuz you said Halakha also doesn't doesn't comply with the New Testament. Then we read it you know, you quoted Paul before. >> Right. So then it is then that iteration of Christianity, which is Unitarian Christianity, is not Avodah Zarah. It's not idolatry. That's where the difference is. But should someone believe that an innocent person died for the sins of the wicked? Of course not. Should someone Should a non-Jew, claiming Hashem, should believe that the mitzvahs are temporal, which openly Paul says all over the place? Of course not. It's not good for them. So there's two questions here. There's one a legal question. And that is So technically in Halakha, in Jewish law, we, you and I, would be allowed to walk into a Unitarian church, just like we are allowed to walk into a mosque. >> He >> Now, both of us would not walk into a Unitarian church, I would imagine, or we would No, because we don't want people wouldn't understand that. I've been invited to lecture many Unitarian churches, I turned them down. Cuz people will not hop, and it I don't want people to be to misunderstood. So in Halakha, there is a distinction, which really has consequences. Really there are big consequences in Halakha if someone worships Avodah Zarah or not. Big consequences. There are. But no non-Jew should believe that a innocent man died for the sins of the wicked. They should rather believe in the truth, that there's one Hashem that loves us and forgives us through his mercy. So I I didn't used to think this way. As a kid, I grew up with a lot of anti-Semitism. I don't know if you did, but I did. And I really didn't care what non-Jews believed. I didn't like them. I didn't like them as a kid cuz in Brooklyn, they all wanted to kill me. I mean, you just did not walk past a night a nice I never met nice non-Jews as a child. I was born 15 years after the Holocaust. I thought they were insane. I changed my view 180 degrees because I eventually met wonderful Christians. So, I didn't care when I was a kid, but now if a Unitarian would ask me, you can watch my shows with Unitarian. I do You know, if they ask me, I'm going to say to them, "Well, it's the best idea for you to believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
