Tour of Ocean Medical Center New Emergency Department

so actually what you see here this is the old uh emergency room entrance and this will now become a new healing Garden for us and we hired a world renowned landcape architect we're very excited it's going to be a nice place as a transition for patients and our team members uh before they go to work and then what we're also excited about now is that we're going to have a covered walkway from our parking garage to our new facility and that's going to be lit up at night but also just provide coverage during uh winter storms which we're seeing PL of nowadays so one of the other areas that we're very excited about is having a dedicated Express Care area so our emergency parment recognize that people are going to come in with different levels of Acuity so for the ones that are more lifesaving we have a whole different facility which we'll show you later but for people with minor injuries and illnesses we can treat them right here in the Express Care area we have several rooms that are dedicated to this and uh what you see here this is a um the nurse station and then we have all the rooms in there we we'll show you more of the rooms but beautiful state of-the-art nice aesthetically and larger to accommodate families so this is our dedicated Pediatric Express Care area you can see this is the nursing station already it's uh looks different has more of a feel for kids and families um you know more colorful and um let me show you one of the rooms so we have uh we have four rooms here for like the uh treat and release uh the folks who are going to come in uh get you know injury or illness and and a leaf but we do also have dedicated is for observation so for the children that need to be observed up to 72 hours we have rooms that can accommodate families parents that can sleep overnight with their kids and let me show you what one of those rooms looks like this is one of the rooms plenty of light um enough room to accommodate the the child but also the parents will have a pull out couch here for the parents uh a bathroom these bathrooms you can see are just modern day very nice um you the tiling and everything is just uh very beautiful and then over here we have um for the parents that may not you know family members that may not want to um you know just need to get out of the room we have a family Lounge area over there as well so we have a lot of nice alos and lounges for people to relax and be comfortable because we know when they come over to the Ed it's a very scary time and we want to provide an environment that's healing but also comfortable as well all right so this area is where the ambulances would take all of our patients so as I mentioned earlier uh if you're a patient that comes to our facility and you're able to walk in it's on the opposite side we didn't want that to compete with ambulances so we have it on opposite ends of our facility and so this is great uh this as you can see this covered um canopy here allows a lot can accommodate a lot of ambulances Park they can drop off patients and let me walk in and show you exactly what's going to like so we walk in I wanted to point out here this is the contamination area uh so there's ever Hazmat issue uh we can uh we can get people uh cleaned up right here in a dedicated uh um hard you know hard facility versus a tent which is what we have today and then now the uh ambulance crew come in here bring the patient in um true emergency and this is where they would do um the quick um the quick registration and this is um one of our uh core nursing station areas um over there you can see to my left those are we have two x-ray machines and later on I'll show you the cat cam room but um you we have one of the things that we've done is really made a huge investment in imaging technology we want to make sure that people coming in have uh the best technology to quickly diagnose their um their health condition or their their injury and so we want to make sure we have the latest and greatest technology and this is one a good example it's an x-ray machine uh it's the latest uh from um remember about this ge ge and so we have two x-rays and I'll show you just a bit the uh the cat cat scan so I mentioned this earlier we have a dedicated CAT scan to our emergency department Department this is the newest latest greatest state-of-the-art CAT scan and just a good example of one of the many Investments that we're making to make sure that when people come in here they have the best technology available to them to take care of their emergent Healthcare needs so one of the other patient populations that we serve is the bariatric population these are people who are morid morbid Leal Beast we've recently launched a bariatric surgery program and now for our new Ed we also have room rooms that can accommodate uh these patients and you see right here is a hoist it's all designed so that we can support um individuals up to 700 lb actually and so this room um we is designed for batric patients there you
