okay I've been warned that if I say
anything at a line I'm going to get like
an electric Shack every
time this
is says something like in between taking
an EKG and being in the electric chair
okay so I was given a um a number of
questions so first of all just as a
general matter anybody I think in this
forum can feel free to ask any question
that they would like with that in mind
there were a few questions that were put
forward to to get to get the ball
rolling so I want to start with one I'm
not going to go in order um just because
it brings out uh a very important idea
and that is the idea
of how do you like that it's only later
on uh the idea of wearing fillan in the
morning putting on Fillin in the morning
uh when going to Shool okay it's brought
down that
uh person wakes up and he's getting
ready to DAV in and it says in it's
brought from the Z that there's an inion
for a person not to leave his home
without being enveloped as it were in
his Talis and filling and uh I think I
guess all of us were the vast majority
of us are from and this has fallen by
the wayside say the reason for that is
because it's not practical it's not to
walk in the streets when there are uh in
the streets it's just not uh it's just
not feasible so it's not really
something that's kept too much
[Music]
here in ER Isel though this really uh it
shouldn't be too difficult to do and
indeed it's something that people see
often uh and it's kind it's relatively
common so I just wanted to address it
for a moment um just because of
something that's a side point related to
it but I think brings out a very
important
idea so just as a general matter the the
marar as I said comes from the Zer and
the Zer says that if a person
walks out of his house passes the mza
wearing his Talis so there are MIM that
accompany him to sh and the malim that
are M against a
person are standing behind as the malim
that are accompanying the good malim
that are accompanying the person are
giving him BR and the negative the M are
forced to answer to all the that the
person is receiving this is what's going
on as a person comes to sh in his tal
fill when a person enters sh is brought
down he's supposed to say
the is referring to somebody who's
wearing
fill because it
says fing is something that inspires a
of people indeed we're probably many of
us have heard there are many stories of
G the stories with the Ben the stories
with the and others about uh times that
they were wearing Fillin when they were
casted by no in the street and the were
stricken with panic when they saw the
Fillin upon the ad
God so Raa Feinstein says
that well before we get to before we get
to so what are the why is it that some
people are not on this one of the that's
brought down is because sometimes the
streets are not especially in this
country more so than in actually there's
Mish there are these huge dumpsters and
uh they give off a and sometimes it
could be a sh to walk past such a thing
wearing Talis and
filling so the P can say that there's an
for that a person can cover the TS and
Fillin and there's actually
a what's preferable is it preferable to
put Onin at home knowing that someone's
going to be passing through what's
called and just cover thein and that
solves the problem or is it preferable
to not put on thein at home rather go to
sh without the talison Fillin because of
this problem of
the and put them on in the courtyard of
the sh that's by the way just an
important idea as well even if
somebody's not able to put on the fillan
at home he still ideally should put on
thein in theer of the sh and only then
enter the sh I think the K says that if
a person is already in the sh he should
go out of the sh and put on his thin and
come back
inside so again this is a preferable to
put on the Tain at home and cover them
passing through or is it prefer
preferable to put on the fill in the
courtyard of the and not to wear them
through
the says something that I just wanted to
start with this because it's such an
extraordinary idea ra says in
the
in that when a person wears
fillan the person
becomes infused with the kadha of and
Raa says that it's not going to help to
cover thein because even if you cover
thein but you can't cover yourself right
you can't walk to uh enveloped in a in a
black garbage bag that's not right so
the person can't be covered even if
thein can be covered Raa says so if you
can't cover the person so you're not
accomplishing anything by covering the
filin because a person who's wearing
thin is onetick Kad and he has all the
this this is a it sounds to us like you
know okay a nice inion sh very beautiful
you know person wearing t and has kadha
wow so nice no Raa is saying he's
saying he's saying something that's M
that a person becomes
one and and he's not permitted to walk
in the streets wearing his thill and
passing by these dumpsters as it were
because of this problem
and therefore would come out according
to that he would side with those that
say to put on the in the courtyard of
the so I'm not I didn't bring this up to
try and tell people what to do what to
be one way or the other they Place him
on both sides of the discussion but I'm
just trying to bring out the idea of how
important and how the Mitzvah ofin is
that Raa holds that a person wearing
Mish becomes
kades so with that in mind I'll just uh
I'll go according to the list over here
and again if anybody has any other
questions he can feel free to ask I
don't think it's uh there's no regarding
these questions or the order that
they're in right okay so actually the
first question does
involve uh and that is do do black
straps matter how black is
black so as far as that question is
concerned um so black
it's now how black is black I assume
that the question is referring to the
idea um does the entire Rua have to be
black in other words we are all familiar
hopefully uh with the idea and with the
fact that some people's some people's
ruus
have I made a bro already um that some
people's ruas have
little like white spots or um streaks or
tears scratches and that creates a
white Mara on the rsua so does that
passel the
rsua so this is actually a uh this is
aimim raises this this issue uh and what
he's addressing primarily is the
following issue ruas have to be a
requisite with and a requisite
length so the let's say for argument
sake the has to come down until here
about 16 cm down from the knot so let's
say beyond that point over here the r
has this White
Spot says he's if that's going to pass
the what one side is well if the rsua
has to be black and there's a white spot
so the RSU is not black the RSU is not
going to be koser on the other hand says
the
Mish the amount of r that I need is
black so if what's after that is not
black who cares what's what's the big
deal as we say that that shouldn't
present a
problem on the other hand says the
perhaps you don't say in this situation
because since there's a din
that so the entire has to be
black and it applies to the entire so
this sh he's not the first one to bring
this up to this is already discussed by
the in
his it's discussed
by it's discussed in and uh so they
areed to say that for the is black so
then theu is going to be kosher so that
provides for plenty of leeway person
could have multiple white spots on his
RSU and that's not going to present any
problem the Kish had a different take he
said it's
totally
of
and which means that it
depends it's hard to give a right now
but Al it's to in how much of the r is
going to be not black and where it's
positioned on the Rua that's the
position of the and the fact of the
matter is that the himself is
not that it's going to he leaves it as a
so the fact of the matter is that again
I'm not uh I'm not here tonight to be
any but the bottom line is if a person
has such a situation so for the AAR what
he's had until now so certainly there's
what to rely on to be make person
doesn't have to you know uh do any major
CH before that he hasn't been
wearing to that he was on the other hand
the at the end of the day is M about it
and therefore ideally a person should
have that paint and he should paint
his which leads us to a related topic
and that
is uh the idea opions
rub
rub um uh
part and
ker says says that if when you look at
the ru he kind of Compares it to like an
es or
or um or other things in yish where you
look at it you know from this length and
if the black if the white spot is not
noticeable so he says then it doesn't
really count the fact that when you hold
it up and you examine youru you see
little white spots that's garnished he
says you look at the overall appearance
of the ru and so long as it seems it
looks black so then it's not going to
present an issue you say white spots you
mean cracks where it's the paint is
broken
away could be anything something on top
of the the straps something on top is
nothing something on top you could
usually just take off with your
fingernail or with a toothpick or
whatever it is usually that won't
present an issue you could just remove
it um but but if the rsua is uh worn
so uh you know it becomes uh less black
the black becomes faded it becomes
cracked and white uh cracks
appear so as I said this leads us to a
related issue and that is people ask all
the time well what's better is it better
to have the all black ruas or is it
better to have the uh traditional for
lack of a better term or call the
traditional ruas which everybody had
until 10 20 years ago the RAS which were
black on the outside and white or the
natural color some some sort of natural
related to natural color uh on the
inside so there is a big misconception
many people wear the all black RS and
they say yeah you know why I'm wearing
it I'm wearing it to
be why is that because the r says
that that the back of
the should be the back of Thea and the
btim and everything should all be the
same color he says that that's no
interesting
a in the Frank R they bring a GE that
it's
G for everything to be the same color
but I don't I think that it's seems to
be relatively accepted that that GE is
not the correct GE correct GE is no that
it's nice if everything is the same
color and the back of the RSU is black
so some people say that the reason
they're wearing these Ras
is but that's really um it's not really
the case uh and the reason is because
all
including the in the and the and many
and before the all say that the Min is
not like the ra so it's clear that from
the time of the ramam already and onward
the Min never was like the r and if all
the and all the are saying and the and
the ra saying that the Min is not like
the R so that means that there's really
no inion to be the of
the again if there was no establish one
way or the other and you have then
certainly would be very nice to be M ra
but if all the PIN for 700 years are
telling us that the Min is not not like
the ram so the Min is not like the
r uh I don't know I don't know um but uh
I don't know I asked RAB rabi a few
questions about but that question I
never asked him it's probable that it's
in his Chas if you look in ch I would
imagine that he addresses
it so why do they why did they come up
with these old black ruas the reason is
because of what we were discussing a
minute ago and that is that if the ruas
develop any non-black spots if they
develop white spots so then there's
going to be a Shila in the Casas of
thein according to the be might not be
the Mitzvah
so came up with a great idea let's let
take the Rua soak it in black dye it'll
become saturated through and through
black and M it'll be like the example I
gave this morning like a piece of
chocolate cake if you cut a piece of
chocolate cake and you look inside the
cake it's not white it's black because
the whole thing is black so if you do
the same thing with the rsua you soak
the rsua you saturate it completely that
it's black so you'll never come to a
situation no matter how no M it's not
going to be be faded no matter how old
or worn out or or scratched your Rua is
you're never going to have a white spot
if you're never going to have a white
spot so
then um you avoid this Shila and that's
really the reason why these ruas were
created it happens to be that Alaba it's
brought from the Aral um that to have
the back of the RSU black unrelated to
the ramb the Aral says that the back of
the Rua should be black so there's a
fascinating
Benes the Benes says that so as we know
the Benes generally followed theim of
the Aral and he certainly was the
greatest M of his time and had many
cabalistic practices so it would seem as
a that the would have all black Ras
because it's brought Alaba to have all
black
Ras so there's a fascinating safer that
was printed by Shalom
yes where they have a safer uh which is
an exchange of letters I think it's
calledo if I'm not mistaken it's an
exchange of letters between the benai
and R Mani R Mani was a makal who lived
in Kevan and he was one of the greatest
M living in isra at the time and the Ben
often would respond with him and they
would discuss issues cabalistic issues
and so forth so there's a
fascinating
uh Ben where he writes in h that he sent
the
sh regarding all black what's the in
what do do in and he wrote back to him
some we are all black ruas and some
don't wear all black ruas that's what he
wrote back to him so it's m
you think like I I would have thought it
was a that all the were all black that's
s of SP from the arel so like it's a
would be it would seem to be a
no-brainer but yet you see that it was
so not a no-brainer that the benai asked
and the response that he got was you
know yeah 50/50 like very non-committal
type of response and he records it in
the Ben it's masma seems to be very
clear that the benai is not so gung
about uh about this Min but on the other
hand certainly not misn to it so the
question arises why would somebody not
wear them what do you have to lose if if
you can avoid the sh of the you could be
M even if it's not the Min and you could
be
M so what have you got to lose just just
wear them so there are two primary uh
approaches um of the what we'll call for
lack of a better word the misnagdim to
the all black
ruas the most obvious problem that they
have with it is that this is something
that CLA hasn't done for 2,000 years and
like to to come today after 2,000 years
and start a new a new way of wearing
filling like have a little bit of the
T whole like you weren't ask to do it
this way now you're trying to make it
like this add this to it no is very
different I would think
because if you if you if you're missing
it you're missing it right in terms of
in Terms with um K was saying like let's
have the whole thing made
up yeah but over here but over here idea
concept but over here you're doing it
because you're being M the Mitzvah in a
more fashion right like I'm saying
either you're happing the rambam or
you're happing the Caba or you're
avoiding the Shila so it would seem to
be all good it's not uh I'm not sure I'm
not sure if the demion is
100% so they so again like I'm saying
the first Tina against it is that it's
very nice but L it's something that
everybody could have done and nobody did
okay in other words just to clarify this
point because this is something that I
think is often misunderstood
today we computer I'm just giving an
example we computer check all what does
the computer check do the computer check
checks for spelling mistakes
in what do you mean how can you do such
a thing 2,000 years they didn't computer
check so what kind of is this coming
around with this new new thing of being
computer checked so what's the answer
the answer is very simple because the
rambam didn't have a computer to check
his safe attire with and the V didn't
have a computer to check his safe attire
with had they had it they certainly
would have done it the proof is because
all the gum who were alive after the
Advent of the computer check endorsed it
and were very excited about it so
there's nothing wrong with making use of
new technology for the for the benefit
of so that's a fantastic thing however
uh one of the oldest professions in the
history of the world world is dying uh
animal Heights something that's been
around from before mat they were dying
animal HIDs so to have all black ruas is
something that always could have been
done it's not like the it's not like
computer checking C they always could
have dyed the hides totally black and
they never did it Rashi didn't do it the
didn't do
it didn't do it didn't do it and even
the Ben it doesn't seem you know like
like he he may not have done it either
that did it because of this but you see
that those who went in the way of the
Aral who followed all of his mhim this
one some yes some yes some not so Al so
that the the Tina against it is that in
something like this to go and change a
Min would be would be inappropriate
that's that's one Tina against it the
second tinina against it is that there's
a Rashi
inki brings this Rashi the Rashi in says
as follows the is talking over there
about a case where the Rua flipped right
I think many of us are familiar that if
a Rua flips there's a whole thing about
fasting and it's it's an very in I'll
just mention that that's referring only
to the part of the Rua that's on the
head and only the part of the rsua that
creates the caser the hi on the
arm but if it does uh flip the RSU
meaning that the outside is on the
inside and the inside is on the outside
so then it's uh very problematic so
Rashi says over
there and I
quote the black part flipped to the
inside because what's
the is that the black is near
on the outside it seems from Rashi again
he his lotion
is the black side went to the inside
well if the inside was also black so
then what happened over here it seems
clear from Rashi that the black side was
the outside and the inside was not black
that seems very clear in Rashi now the
gamar says you're going to ask that you
can make the back of the RSU any color
so the answer to that question is that
but not black apparently they must have
made it some other color they made it
green they made it yellow or they made
it no color but Rashi is saying that the
black part was on the outside the inside
could be any color any other
color pain could be not painted yeah
that's that's what we've always done
unpainted so the fact that it says the
painted side
be he says the the black side saying if
if you are trying to cut clost trying to
have a scenario like that which most of
church history is like that yeah correct
that will explain why why they didn't do
it they couldn't afford
it I don't think that's a little bit
hard to swallow is is the same thing
with G gas also the same is that yeah
definitely it's the same thing they
didn't have the technology technology
yeah yeah they didn't have the
technology it's uh it's uh it's done
with with metals and presses and the
Machinery the
Machinery necessary
for is Manu to set up shop to make gas
btim costs tens of thousands of dollars
it's not an exaggeration tens of
thousands of dollars worth of Machinery
in order to create btim from gases so
yeah something that they didn't have the
ability to do
100% so that's uh so those are the
discussions now the the riot that kki
brings so there are those that are the
issue that it's against the Min for
2,000 years so again that the there are
those that argue the bottom line is I
don't think it's a secret there are
those that are pro and there are those
that are anti and
uh a person should ask his local
Orthodox Rabbi and if you listen to your
Rabbi you'll certainly be in good shape
so that's uh I think that's the issue of
the the black ruas yes you supposed to
tuck in your yes the point of not
flipping yes yes it's brought down to
tuck the Rua in cuz even those a lot of
people like twirl the rsua in their belt
right they do like a loop and I saw
brought down that some people are not so
excited about about that Loop you should
just put it straight through yashash but
yes it is brought down to to talk to Ben
I think also brings a they had you know
a much more complex uh complex system
but was it be in order that it shouldn't
flip is that I don't know if that I
don't know if that's daa the reason but
it has a number of benefits number one
it won't flip number two it usually
won't hit the floor if you do that
whereas otherwise it could hang loose
and it's possible I don't remember if
you look in the Ben he talken that he
says I'll PE Caba also that it should be
tucked in yeah didn't you say that on
the head
by that flipping so why do we because
the that's an excellent question the
answer is because we ideally want the
shiny black part always out that's that
says is right is that the the out that
the uh pretty part meaning the shiny
black part should be on the outside so
it's all the
the
the of
his which we get very nervous about
that's talking only on the head and over
here but the etm it should be everywhere
so it's flip down I see someone I don't
have to say anything make if he'll
appreciate if you say something then
great otherwise I usually find that
keeping quiet is
better I'm sorry no once it's beyond the
CER as long as it's after the CER as
long as it's below the CER not above the
Casher it's
fine yes go back to weing it's filling
going to yeah so not withstanding the of
yeah great
to
your
yes yeah 100% I'll tell you an amazing
thing it's going to Knack your sacks off
says if a person comes to sh and he's
not wearing his Talis and filling he
should skip
the because it's
a so how can you say the P the says to
skip the P so yeah of course it's a if
if there's no I was thinking about it
you know this
afternoon so I was thinking like if a
person davens before 7:30 in the morning
so then there's really no reason not
to the streets are still relatively at
least in this neighborhood you're
relatively calm you're not I'm saying a
reason not to wear thousands and filling
in the street if a person's going to be
bumping in to a million people and
there's and there's women and there's
children and it's a whole Bagan in the
streets so then it's not practical to
wear one's house and fill in to sh but
if the streets are relatively quiet it's
6:00 6:30 7:00 in the morning there
really 100% it's AAL good thing to to
wear one's tal and put them on in the
house put them on in the house and the
lotion of Desire is passing out through
the exit of your home uh wrapped escaned
in your Talis and filling is
AAL yeah from you said earlier the back
smell from the garbage
okay this is from town but not from you
walk and not that's also a problem yeah
100% that would be a problem so that
would go back to what I was saying
before if that depends on who's in the
streets and how many people in the
streets and and what time of uh day it
is for those who go to the too early to
put on if it's too early it's too early
so that's what the the K I referenced
earlier if I'm not mistaken he says to
to walk out of sh in other words if
you're going to sh before the time that
you can put youran on so that's fine you
go to sh and you could sit and learn for
an hour whatever it is um but when the
time comes to put on talison filling you
should go out to theer of the sh put on
your Talis and filling and then come
back in so yeah and repeat
my that's I don't know that's
just to know if you want to repeat it
you're certainly not going to lose any
yeah so a bu who would ride a bik to
school for example oh so that's bring
that's interesting question so the the
question comes up about driving
somebody's going to be driving to sh so
should you wear your towels should you
put on your TOs and filling before you
get in the car so I saw that some say
well look at the Bal A and L the Bal a l
used to travel wearing the talison
villain so if Bala traveled wearing the
talison villain why shouldn't you wear
your talison villain when you're driving
on the other hand if I'm not mistaken if
you do some searches you'll find about
people that were given tickets for
driving wearing the TOs in filling
because uh the police officer determined
that that caused the accident right if
you have your TOS over your arm you lose
a little bit of flexibility and uh it
could be a little bit dangerous so
actually one r that I asked I'm not
kidding around I asked him this question
if you should put on your thousandal and
filling before you're going to drive so
he he told me and I didn't say anything
to him about these tickets and anything
he said well if you're asking me he said
I think you should put on your Talis and
filling at home and as you're getting in
the car are take off your
Talis put it down in the passenger seat
drive to sh and then put the Talis back
on without a br because driving wearing
a Talis is dangerous that's that's what
that Ro told me so again indan if you
work in t Aviv you know so to drive with
the ital is a little bit uh not so
practical I found it was only a 5 minute
drive but I found that the Tali would uh
the T would get stuck in the door in the
door that's I've had that yeah so that's
the only problem I have
yeah so yeah I mean there's no I don't
know that there's any right answer it's
I guess it'si the individual if a person
feels that he's able to do it then also
you have to realize there's a there's
another question of a person is not
supposed to be when he's wearing Tain
but the parameters of what's
called
are nebulous okay um if a person is
going to check the scores of the game
last night wearing his Talis andin
that's certainly it's whatever you want
to call it it's certainly not
appropriate activity when wearing but if
a person is working wearing his Talis
and Fillin there's nothing wrong with
that
so uh wearing Talis and filling while
driving
intrinsically this there's nothing wrong
with it but on the other hand again if a
person feels that it's distracting and
it's not practical then certainly it's
best you know I guess it's best to avoid
it but riding a bike I would think is
worse than than driving cuz riding a
bike a person gets shitzy and it's uh I
again it depends on the person but it
would seem my feeling would be that no
it's probably better not to put on tals
and fillan or even just fillan before
riding a bike of course if it's raining
rain oh S I actually had that uh written
down on my cheat sheet over here to
mention that if it's raining a person
absolutely should either not put on his
Talis and filling at home home or be
very very sure that the Fillin are very
safe he's wearing a a good rain coat
with the hood whatever is necessary to
ensure that the Fillin are not going to
get wet because moisture is the enemy of
Fillin I've seen countless filling that
got ruined outside and inside due to
excessive moisture and excessive
moisture doesn't have to be rain if a
person showers in the morning or a
person goes to the Mikvah in the morning
if he doesn't dry his hair properly see
the go to the m in the morning but they
don't really have too much here so for
them it's not too much of a problem but
for non someone who goes to the mik in
the morning or takes a shower before
Shak is getting into could could get
into a major problem if he doesn't
ensure that his hair is totally dry
before davening similarly and this would
apply like I was saying to someone
riding a bike or even walking to schul
potentially if it's a very hot climate
and the person spitzes a lot so that's
also something to take into account
because schitz kills Fillin that's a
fact um a person who's a who's a heavy
sweater uh I'm not saying he shouldn't
wear Fillin but he has to be very
cautious uh one idea would be to put
tissues in the they're called Shad the
plastic cases he should put F not not sh
with a test but with a d Shadel it's
also yish she put a a tissue on the base
of the sh and so that way so first of
all he should leave his Fillin out for a
minute or two after the daving he should
wipe them down and make sure that they
don't have any moisture on them and it
would be a good idea to put a tissue
which will absorb some of the moisture
in the Shadel so that when he closes up
his filling um you know it'll help in
that regard but thein mamish mamish
mamish I've seen dozens of pairs of
Fillin that the bottom of the T Mish
looks like an inverted uh soup bowl cuz
it conforms to the Dome of the head and
it just m warps you can use also desate
that comes in the vitamins and shoes and
things like that in the in the Shadle
yeah and I thought you I thought you man
to put it on your head okay no yeah in
the Shadel yeah that's a good idea
yeah okay no about the the ASA garbages
in the street yeah there's a couple
garbages you pass by you don't have to
look at them correct so of if this it
depends on the smell if the smell is
very big
see
here uh we have a lot of them are closed
also the're small also very often
they're in a corner over here
in to live in a town where the garbage
situation is not so disastrous although
sometimes when you're walking to SCH
it's right when they're pulling all the
garbage bins out to the street and
that's really not so gak it's not not
it's not so glad to walk the sh in such
an environment so I call but in where
you have these massive green dumpsters
which you can smell from 20 ft away it's
m it's not so P
yeah right yeah
right it was the filling activist that
got it done
yeah yeah the bike would be if you're
going without a helmet you wouldn't be
wearing a that's true you'd have to make
a customade helmet that can if they can
make customade raincoats right so they
can make customade helmets that can
uh um
accommodate okay but you
saido exposed
also yeah 100% it's not so
yeah um okay what else do we have over
here oh it was here wearing the Jew yeah
sure
where to LIT The Edge on fire yes that's
a different story that and he said was a
fraud or something was yes it was a
fraud there's a yid unfortunately would
be better if he wasn't a yid um there's
a yid who um his hobby is uh forgeries
and the like um he's been
caught uh selling
Mattis repackaging yearlong matzes into
PES matah boxes and selling them as Kos
PES
he's been caught selling lemons in boxes
with hashas
onim and uh so he one of his business
ventures was that he took you have like
chap meat right like hamburgers so he
took like chapped leather and you like
glue it together like like a sandwich
you know uh not sandwich um siit right
uh shelving so he took like that type of
thing out of leather glued it together
so he had one thing of leather then he
took black plastic strips and with steam
he would just affix these black strips
onto these it's not really leather but
uh what what appeared to be leather and
he sold them millions of meters of such
quote unquote ruas so the reason why he
was caught was because after a certain
amount of time some people's rsua
started peeling and all of a sudden the
gu looking as at his Rua and it's like
like those fruit rollups you know like
it just just comes right off so people
started to see that the edge of the Rua
the black and the white or whatever were
starting to separate and you just go
like that and the whole thing comes
apart M splits in
two he was actually taken to
court um and if you want to read a very
beautiful
about written by a female judge in t
Aviv who went through the whole Su um
she took from all kinds of and and she
went into the whole Su very very nicely
I enjoyed it 40 pages and uh and she
pasin
thatle and uh from Aviv yeah from Tel
Aviv and uh I could send you the
PDF and uh yeah so we have a Bor from
the from theat in Tel Aviv that the
kosher so so there's two ways how you
can know not you how a person could know
if he has such ruas so one way is you
boil up water and you dip the rsua into
water okay so what's going to happen is
it's immediately going to separate the
black strip and the plastic leather
other side is going to separate so
that's one way whereas with the regular
that won't happen and the second way
which is much more exciting is you could
just light the ritsu on
if it burns it's plastic if it doesn't
burn it's a real
rsua I'm sorry just yeah just the tip
gets a little singed it's okay so it's
very exciting if you Mish if you enjoy
for someone who's a pyromaniac it's a
lot of fun you can M much like burn a
whole bunch of plastic
ruas so that was uh yeah that was so
that happened that story
happened
uh I think it was less than 10 years ago
eight years ago something like that
people running around this all the time
sure it's pule for sure right um it's
actually interesting so okay so that
raised an interesting question so sheep
asking that it's puzzle um and a lot of
Pim agree with her umer said it's p said
it's p there's a lot of Pim that came
out and said that it's pule so
fascinatingly enough uh first I'll shock
you and then I'll tone it down soash
actually held that it's koser wow um but
but not these Ras because the guy has
noash held that AA is kosher even if the
black is not painted into the leather
okay in other words if theoretically a
person has kosher leather which is with
all the of and he takes paint and he
paints everything on he does everything
the way it's supposed to be done and for
whatever reason the paint doesn't absorb
into the it sits on top as a layer and
and like a piece of masking tape a
person could just peel it off
so that that's not in whereas these
other P held that that would the butash
held that that would not pass the so the
people you know who were sticking up for
this guy said what do you
mean but it's not true because
held it ker if you have making the with
all the and everything being done
properly so in such an instance it would
be ker because sometimes it does happen
that there's a a problem with the
leather for whatever reason and Atta
doesn't go in and it could peel but that
would be according to a kosher peeling R
but this guy he was doing it in the
Ukraine Alan and in other countries in
Turkey I think uh there were various uh
exotic places where he was making these
ruas where he wouldn't get caught um so
it was being made by g wasn't didn't
have they would no they would just pule
in in just Lam pule are there
any who were making Rus like that no no
it happens by accident all all of them
the ones you can just peel off like that
they were
all well again you could have mud ruas
that have that but generally it happens
by accident not not on purpose they're
not making those ruas they're making
traditional ruas and for various
technical reasons right but the on that
you pe the whole yeah those are those
are all made by by this fellow and his
uh imitators use for toys for you know
for for toddlers you know just they make
it toys make it like
yeahi um
okay what should we talk about
next
um the correct placement of
tan what if the eyes are not in the
center of one's head okay so
that you heard right um basically I'll
rephrase the question the question is as
follows the correct placement Forin is B
and the correct placement for
thead is on the mus
on the lower half of the bone which
extends from the shoulder down to the
Elbow okay so you have the bone which
extends from the shoulder till the elbow
you take the Midway point of that bone
you have a certain amount of muscle
underneath it it should be in that area
ideally that's the place that's the
placement for the Rua there are others
that hold that the entire raised part of
the arm is can is suitable for theill
the vill holds like that sh and there
are those that say that that's the of
the also although most understand of the
not like that that's a different
discussion for a different time but be
that as it
may it's important for thein to be
placed in the correct spot because if
thein are not placed in the correct spot
[Music]
says if the are not in the correct spot
so it's like they're in the it's like
they're in the bag you haven't really
done anything so having the F in the
correct spot is is of primary importance
be that as it may
um situations can come up which are
problematic and that is if a person and
there are people that have this um where
their their body is not typical a person
can have the muscle of his arm higher up
it could be due to an operation that he
had or some other reason so he can have
the muscle on the upper half of of his
arm or his eyes like we were saying in
the question a person can have eyes
which are not centered it's such a thing
is is there are people that have these
issues or a more common issue is that
the filling are not supposed to come
lower than the hairline okay so the the
roots of the hair where the roots of the
hair grow right I don't know why I'm
pointing to my head because you can't
see where it used to be but some people
still have the roots of their hairline
in the place where it was and uh that's
the lowest point that the Fain are
allowed to come to so what about a
person who has a extraordinarily
unusually low hairline would he be able
to have his fill in lower or the
opposite let's say a person has an
extraordinarily High hairline would he
have to now put his filling all the way
back up on his
head
so I found says that that these M
are um for the correct placement of
where the correct placement of the meant
to be if a person if the S don't work on
him that doesn't change the m m is the
same as it would be for a regular person
so he says so if a person's hairline is
within the range of what's considered to
be normal so that then he would have to
be mid on his own head that the fill and
rests in the correct spot for him
because he is what's considered to be
normal or regular but if a person person
is irregular and his situation is
different than standard people soim says
he would not have to be M or he would
not be able to be make in terms of the
placement of his Fillin whether it's on
the arm or the head and he would have to
put the Fillin in the normal place where
most people have the Fillin so that's
something to be aware of I actually had
this recently B mitz Bo was by me in the
in the house and uh and he had an
unbeliev ably High hairline I never saw
such a thing his hair I mean he had long
hair so it came down it wasn't
noticeable he looked he looks like a
regular kid but when you're measuring
the filling it was like wow his hair
started like way up on his head and it
mamish created for him what could
potentially be a very tiny uh window of
where he can place his filling so
according to would not be a problem and
he'd be able to put his Fillin in what
would be considered to be a normal a
normal range Wonder that's
same what saying is that saying is that
just a guideline it's possible I can't
uh say for sure but it's sensible that
it's definitely possible Yeah you
mentioned that you're fitting a garments
with boyfri yeah why is it that so many
suffer
allow T to leave their hands without
fitting them on a child or an adult well
if the child or the adult is there kids
did you get your T from the sare and
yeah fit it for you no
uh who send them out with the
grandparents and they take them the foot
and they're fit for elephant okay so the
first so the first the first answer to
the the first the answer to the first
half of what you said is what my rash
always used to tell me when I would ask
him such questions he says why are you
asking me is the people who that do it
that's the first as far as sending it
with grandparents so what do you want
them to do the kid is not in front of
them this what are they supposed to do
the so should make it so small or so big
that nobody Cann well if it's fit for an
elephant's head then it's going to be so
big just you should know I once sent
somebody p ofin and he called me up and
and he was very upset and he said that I
asked for a square Casher and he sent me
a doll okay I felt terrible but he was
in kzor and I was here it was very
little I could do about it at the time
so I apologized as best as I could and
then he calmed down he said don't worry
about it I took care of it I said how do
you take care of it he said well I went
on YouTube and I uh typed in caser sh R
and there are videos there that showed
how to do it so I just undid it and
redid it so I asked him if it said on
the video to make sure to say before you
begin and he said that it did so wow
okay so there you go so don't shoot me
for promoting YouTube I'm not promoting
YouTube but you should just know if
you're really yeah if you're really
stuck um you can find someone who has
access to YouTube and ask him uh to show
you how to do it my Google also helps
right yeah so that's as far as the the
Fillin uh placement is concerned once
we're talking about it I'll just mention
that there's a Yen B Park his name is
RAR and he started a whole campaign um
approximately 35 years ago uh
encouraging people to have smaller Shel
yats so it's an interesting topic so
I'll mention it for a couple of minutes
uh what's the idea of's small
shats so the idea is as follows it's
brought
down the shame the shim shim was one of
the some say it's actually R from the
time of the gar but I think most
understand that he was one an anonymous
G from the of the in the 700s 800s 900s
um and he says in the shim that the
should
be which is two by two which is
according to 4 cm by 4 cm and according
to the
Kish 4.8 CM by 4.8 CM or Loosely stated
5 cm by 5
cm now because of this shim the minut
has become an hour times in Europe it
wasn't like this but in modern times uh
if you take a look at standard Fillin if
you measure standard ashkanazi Fillin at
least um they are 5 cm x 5 cm that's the
standard size of the base of the Fillin
and the reason is as I said to
be of the shim
RAB what's the problem the problem is
what we mentioned before that according
to a number of Pim uh if the shalad is
going to
extend to the upper half of the muscle
so then According to some one is
not now that's very scary because a lot
of people first of all are not really
aware of this and not really mockit
about it number one and number two um is
for B Mitzvah boys it's uh could be very
difficult to fit the fill in in the
correct area so what's what's one meant
to
do said well very simple thing the idea
of having t
it's not even the sh doesn't hold that
it's whereas having the not in the
correct spot could be M according to
manyin so let's make let's you know
weigh the sides here I could make it as
and in this nice of
the or I could and maybe not
be or I can make my Fain a little bit
smaller increase my chances of beingz
fill in and so I've lost the shim R so
he encouraged this practice of wearing
smaller shads at the time I remember uh
I was in Yesa and we was around the time
of Mitzvah and it was a big tumml at the
time you know there was the pro camp and
the anti- camp like everything else and
uh and he had some gum taka backed him R
shinberg was one of his big backers
and and uh and there were many people
that purchased those uh bom now the
reason why they didn't become a big hit
in the zeber is because they looked they
looked
funny for lack of a better way of saying
it they looked funny because they were
small they were the regular height so
you could fit a regular sized para into
the Fillin so it was regular height but
it was it was smaller so the proportion
was unusual and therefore it looked
funny and it didn't really take off but
then they came up with a compromise and
that is that they started making shads
that are 40 or 41 or 42 millim squared
right so what's the Mila of that the
mile of that is that you still have
according to the she
of which is I think more accepted by
more people inel than the shear of the
so he still getting the shear of number
one and number two you're still getting
it around 20% smaller so such btim are
available and there are people that have
them they look less
uh unusual and there are those that have
them now reash actually wore them
himself for a different reason um but
rash had them R shinberg encouraged many
people to wear smaller shads and like
I'm saying the that are very Pro on the
other hand the that are not so excited
about itner was not so excited about it
Feinstein was not so excited about it
and the question is why not like we were
saying before right sometimes like what
do you have to lose
so the pce is because kki also I saw
brought down he didn't he didn't hold
that there's any major reason to to get
them and the pasas is because they hold
that the is like the gro and like we
said before the grow holds that the
entire muscle is acceptable for the and
if the entire muscle is acceptable for
the then one doesn't really get into a
sha even a MIT really doesn't have a sha
and since the is like the grow and for
somebody who looks in the Mak of the
inion as the B brings it I believe from
the smack um it
becomes the P taka is like the grow so
the the the ra is a very biges to say
that it has to be on the lower half of
the muscle and therefore they hold um
that there's no major inion a person
doesn't have to be somatic to try and
get it but again like we're saying the
flip side of the other Pim is like at
the end of the day what do you really
have to lose so so why not get it so
okay I'm going to leave it at that there
are some that are pro and there are some
that are not quite Pro and uh either way
like we said before if a person asks his
R and follows that advice he's certainly
going to be in good shape yeah what what
what was A's reason for's reason was
because he had his head was different
people have different shaped heads and
and rash's head was shaped such that it
wasn't flat on the top
it was more I wouldn't say like a V but
uh closer to a v than to being flat and
M had a problem that thein didn't sit
well on his head because he had
B by him was narrow so since the fill
are 50 mm wide and the mock that they
were resting on was smaller than that so
they were kind of hanging in midair on
either side and uh uh you know it was
difficult for him to keep them properly
placed so there's who's still around
still active his name is Elo Gman Rabbi
ELO Gman he put out a
very together with morg on
the and he they were very close with
rash they spoke to him every day for a
period of about 8 to 10 years while they
were writing their
saer and
uh and Elman noticed that ribash had
this issue with his so he offered reash
one day he said listen I'm sorry for you
know budding into your business but I
see that it's a you know it's
problematic and and it bothers you I
have an idea sir said what's your idea
so Gman said to him my idea is that I
can make a smaller sh I could make you a
41 or 42 size so that way you'll still
have and it'll sit better on your head
sash said sounds good let's let's go for
it there happens to be a printed Chua
from where he says that the Min was
always like and not like the so didn't
have a problem going with the especially
as we said the himself says it's not M
so Elman on his own without asking rash
he figured once I'm making him a sh
that's smaller I'll make him aad also
smaller and that's what he did and he
told me that when he gave ribash the
btim he saw that ribash noticed that the
shalad was also smaller and he hesitated
for a split second and you know then he
just let it go and he Tak War them
regularly so he had a small Shad but not
for the reason that we were discussing
yeah tell me when to stop I don't know
when I'm supposed to stop I as as as you
said I I can speak you know for for the
next few days yeah
[Music]
and Russi
together yeah that's for sure below way
below
the below the the
hairline oh below the four ctim oh for
sure yeah it's half of that it's it's
it's somewhere between it's around 25
usually I believe that should correct
yes it's 100% true yakob Hill wrote an
entire cont 100 pages long CH printed in
his where he
passionately advocates for wearing the
two filling at the same time and he
answers up has a whole Chua advocating
the opposite position and
ROV is very strong on the other side of
the equation so if somebody wants to go
through the two Chas and try and
determine what he wants to do or he can
ask his Ro and choose one way or the
other or just follow uh his accepted
minic
good
okay
okay all right
