I remember when I was a child growing up
in England and my Bobby, my grandmother
used to live with us in the home and I
remember she used to come out with
different Yiddish lines lines in Yiddish
and one of them I remember stuck with me
which was a beautiful statement. She
said
fugger
one can be f and very f and extremely f
but on top of all your fkite one has to
also be clever as well. Then she would
turn around and say kug you can be very
very clever with all the cleverness you
also have to be f as well. I think what
she meant is something like this. It's
all very well being f and being careful
and with all your hummus and all your
particular stringentes but you have to
be clever as well with with
understanding of how to apply all your
dish you can be very very clever very
clever indeed but if you're not f if you
don't have your shine if you don't have
fear of the almighty with it all then it
really won't work either I remember a
friend of mine he's now the mash in
Mosha
fishman once told me he was once walking
down mayor show him and he saw the most
horrific incident in front of him.
Someone was very very firm but certainly
not very clo not very clever. There was
a dwarf who was walking along the
street. I promise you this was the mice
that he saw and your came over to him
picked him up and said
and put him down again. anything more
disgusting in her life.
Yes, but no seah. If you don't do that
to a person, put him down in the street
and having said the mash abos. What a
what a ma very firm. Yes, but no not
kite. No seal to behind it all. I
remember an episode reading about
was sitting once at a bitzvah next to
the bitzvah boy and on the other side
was the father sitting next to them and
the washer walked in and as he came to
sit at the table in front of
he turned around and said to the father
of the boy tell me when is the here in
the cash here in this hall and he sat
down for a few minutes and then he went
out and as soon as he went out the zamu
went after him afterwards and he let him
have it outside the hall. So the Talmud
said, "What right do you have to say to
if you don't want to eat then don't eat
but why embarrass him? Maybe he's a
which you don't eat but why embarrass
about and to ask him what it is." You
don't do such a thing like that. You
don't ask if you want to inquire inquire
on the quiet but not the person who's
making a simra how bad he must feel
about it. You hear the point? No, you
hear the point. I remember the certain
people I'm not talking about joining
Davening, but certain people have what's
called a townis divor. They don't talk
at all. So you go over and talk to them
and they go it's an awful feeling. No
tis is all very well then you can't do
it in public when people talk to you
normally. Also making a making a fast as
well. I remember reading about
he would never make any other fast
except for the public fast.
That's all he said because I don't have
any. It's all very well being but one
has to be one has to be clever have say
to it as well. And that's what my Bobby
meant that I'm f but also with and
understanding how to do the mitzvah as
well. One can be very very clog very
very clever indeed. You can give I know
certain people I remember seeing they
give a day when it comes to making a
what happened to the bra. They're very
clue, very clever, but you know, bo is
llap and they talk in the middle of
dabbing and and they come in late to
dabing as well. Very clog, very clever.
But where's the US? Where's the clue
behind it all? You hear what I'm saying?
The point is it's not enough. It's not
enough just to be someone who's very
form. You also have to have a cloite
cleverness about you. A it's not enough
to be clog. I think what Bobby meant
meaning clever, but at the same time,
one has to be f with it as well. Your
shine behind it all. We're not mal we're
not angels. I'm not saying we're perfect
and we all make mistakes. But you hear
the point and I think there's a
tremendous wisdom behind what my Bobby
was saying.
In reality I I think is also perhaps
there's a positive which we say every
single morning. You know
the beginning of beginning of wisdom is
a good understanding a sensible person.
When you do it, you have to do it with a
it has to be with understanding with
common sense behind it all. Meaning the
funkite has to have a clue kite to it
and a clite the cleverness has to have
also an eosi behind it all. And then I
think when I was a little older I
remember learning a puk in shia hashirim
which really king Solomon said it very
clearly as well in the beginning of
peric base in hashirim
says about
you yourself
beautiful because
of your ancestry where you come from the
you come from refers
but you yourself are very beautiful as
well. Meaning
the eyes of a dove as you know are
compared to a dove and the vagon
explains on that a beautiful
explanation. He says as follows there's
something very unique about a dove. The
two eyes are perfectly symmetrical.
They're exactly the same size. They're
featured in the middle of the face. One
is never bigger than the other. One is
never smaller than the other. The eyes
are identical in size. says they're
going to go on the eyes of one eye is
forma for wisdom and one eye is for yam.
They must be perfectly measured. If your
says they're going to go on more wisdom
more than you do have shim. It's called
bizuya. It it it's not right. It doesn't
appear to be good. It's almost in some
ways disgusting. A clever person but it
doesn't have enough y. So they go and if
you have more fear about you don't have
any backing behind it. You don't know
the no wisdom behind it. is dalous. It's
weak. Hear the point. The two have to
come together. In other words, one has
to be wise, one has to be smart, one has
to be quick and alert to a situation.
That I think is the also together with
it is wisdom as well. If you don't have
the wisdom behind it all, it doesn't
work. The two go together. The must go
together with the wisdom as well.
I think when we come to this situation
of what my Bobby was saying after
I think maybe we can apply it very well
to the situation that we're going
through at the moment in Klis the Mashia
the footsteps before the Mashiach will
arrive and really what I'd like to point
it out to you bring it out is a famous
comment which was made by Rebelia Lapian
the great Bal Musa he said it in London
evidently in the yeshiva of when he was
there in London. He said as follows.
Rebel Elliot said he heard from the from
the Khan Basan. Babon Basan had said
that he had heard from the in 1920 after
the first world war. Kit had said there
will be three wars of Gog
three wars of GO. What has just occurred
nearly the first great war from 1914 to
18 to 1918 said the was the first war of
go. The first one we pass the first one
he then said in 1920 said Ellia in the
name of Bhonum the second one will be in
25 years time and it will make the f the
first one look like child's play like
misraim an incredible comment which he
made so said and the said like child's
play if you want to look this up if you
have leo on the ino look at the very
last ma on paras yo on the very last
page What I'm saying is written there
that's where I saw it inside there
said as follows and then there's a
footnote at the bottom that is Alman
Meltzer the famous Shiva from Slutzk
when he heard this comment of the he
went to asked what did you mean what
will happen in 25 years time so the like
I said it will be like a child's play
meaning what will happen will be
disastrous will be catastrophic what in
25 years time the situation will be
awful horrendous he
And he asked what will happen with said
I will protect my my city which is for
my benefit and also in the meaning
to go to on that basis
went home packed his bags and as you
know he came to be theash in next he was
there. He came to live in Israel.
The second one happened and then said
the third one would be something called
after the second one and aime
it would be a time of for but from there
they will be saved. So he said so he
said meaning there will be something
called an I don't know what that means.
I'm not sure what the reading is whether
it means there'll be a war or a time of
great difficulty. Certainly what we're
going through now is an as what's
happening now in England in the
anti-semitism in the Iran the problems
in America the problems of Kalis the
problems of Ben here in as well it's an
from there they will be saved so the
now if you know
was something like a prophet in his
times many of his writings he wrote
about communism about democracy about
Zionism, all the different isms he wrote
about them called
the Reb said as follows.
He made a comment of what the said
there has to be something called Moshe.
When you have a birth, you have the
pains before the birth. The birth pains
before the birth will occur. And then he
said as follows which I think Rabai the
crucial words of Rabana this great
prophet in Khalis Rabana said as follows
lack mascul
only an enlightened thinking person
augment a person who thinking person
should keep quiet
and prepare
with great preparation.
Maybe such a person will be privileged
to see the arrival of Mashiach the
is what had said look carefully isn't
that the meaning of it mascul a
masculism a thinking person a thinking
person the milon in mish if you look at
the beginning
the milon explains hasll [clears throat]
means successful successfully well third
out correct in their thinking remember
at the end of parasi after the awful
of the college
in order that you should be successful.
The definition of a is well thought out
as my Bobby had said
you have to be a clever alert awake
sensitive to what's going on in the
situation. I think that's what really
what it's all about. Meaning in the
times of the way that saw it in the
times of how do we possibly survive this
third war whatever it means what the s
meant I don't know many of you have to
be a mascul
understood exactly what the s was saying
you have to be a thinking person you
can't be a drifter not an apathetic
person who just drifts on and on and
never thinks about what's going on in
the world you have to be a thinking
person let me explain to you who I don't
think a masculine I don't necessarily a
mascul necessarily a wash doesn't have
to be a great saddic a great vital
doesn't have to be a great doesn't have
to be a great person who's finished
shass no who is an ask it's you and me
every normal person I think you don't
have to be particularly great one thing
you do have to do is you have to be a
thinking person you have to be alert to
situations which are going around you
can't just drift and that's the meaning
of a kluger mention alert sensitive to
the surroundings which are going
to be a masc person. We can ask maybe a
question. What did mean when he said the
words to keep quiet? I think it's a
little like the reference do you
remember which we saw in Paris Schmini
when Aaron lost his two sons
he kept quiet. I remember hearing from
the great rashes
Aaron Lansski
Lupansski he came to Matvish recently he
said a beautiful explanation
is not the same as to keep quiet means
you have something to say but you don't
say it is acquiescence
I don't understand what's happening here
what happened with my two sons he didn't
have an answer he didn't have an answer
you think things which are happening you
don't understand what happened in the in
the Holocaust What happened with great
now in the soldiers who were being
killed on October the 7th? We don't
understand these situations. Diamonds,
diamonds have been lost to Clalis in
families in Kalisel and the amount of
sacrifices people made. People are
injured, families are broken situations
we don't really understand at all. But
yet and prepare, be ready, be prepared
because it's in his world. It's not that
we understand the situation going on at
all. It's something which is beyond us.
Maybe we can explain it in the following
way. I remember the great washiva from
Nar Feldman came along recent about two
or three years ago and he spoke in my
mish and he said as follows. It's a mamm
I think from the ram khal in d hashem
the rams himself says as follows a fetus
in time the mother an embryo inside the
mother has his two hands on his temples
and bowing down the profile of a baby
inside a mother is like this hands down
hands on the temples and the head down
it means as follows says and the mal
also explains as follows like this means
a thinking person with anova with
humility you're bowed down says the Raal
that is a profile for the rest of one's
life for 120 years to retain that
profile that status of a thinking person
with a novela with humility behind them
I think that is a definition of what we
mean here to be a thinking person to to
try and work out what's happening here
not just to drift along and that's the
be prepared because we don't know what's
going to be in this situation of a mime
don't know what how it will be but we
certainly have to be accord person who's
alert and thinking person who's aware of
what's going on in clis what's in the
circumstances we're going through under
those circumstances what I'd like to do
is to give you two really case studies
what I believe liti are the definition
of a mascul there are many many points
which I could like I'd like to go into
maybe the the tremendous prevalence
there is of gashmas of materialism in
the world the care one has to have of
the internet you remember where mattis
Solomon
gave this city fields assembly to people
be aware of the technology and the
problems of the internet. There are many
issues. I chose two issues which I think
are very crucial and vital in the
concept of being a mascul
one is mo and one is and these are the
two areas which I think perhaps we can
try and excel when it comes to being a
thinking person. Let's begin with a role
model of somebody who I think was the
greatest mascul of all. Do you remember
the episode at the beginning of Shmo
Alfres
after David had killed Golas? He then
was very famous. His prestige was
enormous. a gib a mighty warrior and
people were singing the praises of
Davidid says the after that
mascul
David was called a mascul meaning
wellought out successful in his thinking
David realized what was going on in the
world and he he understood he had a
tremendous
I wonder if that's the reason why
whenever we want to approach the kiss to
ask for We use his words. Why his words?
Why do we use the words of David? Why
specifically him? If you notice this
morning in ding nearly all the words are
taken from from David except
David is the spokesman for us. We use
his words. His words are what we use to
approach the
I remember I was very fortunate when I
used to live in how north. I gave a shia
for women. We've completed nearly almost
all of safer was in the house of a great
lady. Her yacht site was this week.
Rebbitson Vulk Hovich. She later married
the Boston Rebi Rebbitson Vulk Alan in
her house and we went through every week
a different pay. It was wonderful. I
remember pointing something out after
we'd gone through about 50 or 60 proim
of Tahillim. You one thing you notice
very clearly in in Tahillim. There are
many different moods. There's a mood of
thanks, mood of appreciation, mood of
joy, mood of great sorrow, mood of great
bitterness, mood of sorrow, many
different moods which you have. But you
never find the end of a chapter in him a
disillusionment, a depression, a yush.
He never give he has solace but never is
there a yush. It's the end I cannot
carry on. And David as you know had
tremendous challenges, tremendous
difficulty in his life. You don't find
that interim
was a mascul with all the difficulties
that he went through he carried on and
we use his words always to approaches
under that circumstances. Here's the
example
142 which we keep on saying
when David was inside the cave he turned
around and said with his enlightenment
is the avoid of if you remember the
scene what had happened Shaw was chasing
after David with 3,000 soldiers and he
was in mortal danger he ran down to ai
ran inside a cave and as soon as he ran
inside the cave to hide
A spider came and made a web in the back
of the cave. And the soldiers came and
inspected who they were looking for
David. And they saw there's a web. There
must be nobody behind it. A few minutes
later, Shaw came in to relieve himself.
David was behind the spider's web and
Shaw was in front of him. And he saw
that was the situation. Shaw was looking
after David was chasing after him with
3,000. All the king's horses and all the
king's men were chasing for David. And
there he was right in front of him. It's
almost ironical the scene. Schul was
trying to kill David and then he was at
the mercy. He didn't realize Schul he
was at the mercy of David. David could
have killed him in one second in front
of him. He was right there in front of
him. He didn't touch him. And David then
came out and said the words nothing
helps a person more
when he was inside the cave is with all
the king's horses and all all the
armaments. All you have nothing really
helps more. We're learning that
nowadays. You can have all the armaments
from President Trump and everything and
all the right soldiers of the right air
force and everything but nothing helps
as much as filler says the medal
is shame hashemic
a tower of strength shame hashem is a
tower of strength
runs to it and he's uplifted uplifted
and therefore if we understand this per
correctly we can learn from this
The sepo the great rishan explained as
follows this scenario of Davidid inside
the cave hiding there it was Davidid
running away as a fugitive but in
reality says the pona it's also the
pulse of kalisel in the times of the
mashik whatever is said inside this
kashmar
whatever is written inside this per is a
fortune a pro a a a prophecy of what was
going to happen in khalis Is this in the
time meaning
that's what it means and therefore the
sipon says this pay is specifically
relevant to the times that we're going
through that's what we say that's the
idea behind this pay here and therefore
what the first point of a mascul is a
person has to become very adept and very
qualified when it comes to prayer you
cannot leave prayer at these times a
person can be very so disillusioned
situations which are coming out in cloud
if you don't have this tower strength in
front of you then you you can be lost
you can be completely disillusioned one
has to have I'm suggesting at these
times the expertise the ness of being
able to dab them properly in front of
bolum
you remember the scenario we can bring
out maybe I don't know if um you
remember the scene but
when uh the situation of of prayer what
does it mean by prayer you have to know
how to dab you have to understand
understand clearly dabbling cannot
become a sardine slot. Meaning you can't
squish dabing in between I'm I'm going
out now. I'm making a phone call. I have
five minutes for you must give prayer a
time. You must be able to say the words
articulately and eloquently to be able
to say the words properly. In other
words
to it is a is a necessary you must have
it time. You must give it patience. Give
an opportunity in order to daven. So
you are my refuge. You are my salvation.
And if one doesn't tap on to this you
can lose the whole connection which you
have with at such times of stress and
chaos and going on one has to become
aware and alert of the which there is
behind it all. There's a beautiful
passage if you want to look it up in
in
the brings down there as follows a
beautiful setup he explains as follows.
A person can make tremendous efforts and
greatadas in order to succeed in a
certain area maybe for a certain shak
for a certain job to look for a certain
house and you look whatever you can and
then the whole thing collapses and falls
away from you. What happens here? It
wasn't because of lack of effort because
didn't want it to happen. One has to
appreciate of all the efforts that you
make at the end of the day the most
important avoid is the
there's a beautiful passage which is
brought down at the end of the gid right
at the end of the of
base the men of Alexandria turned around
to Ben Khan and asked questions they
said rebby rebi how does a person
possibly become a rich man said Ben Khan
then you be honest in business don't
lend in ribbis be honest and
unscrupulous in integrity in business.
They turn and said baby many many people
have been like that and they they they
haven't made a penny. They're still
bankrupt. They haven't got a money penny
to their name. Said then you have to
you must dab for it
how can you possibly become a so they
said
you have to send spend time learning in
the in the give time for learning. They
said many people sat and learn and they
still amat and they don't know anything.
You hear the point as another question.
How do you have a wonderful family? A
family who you're proud of with he said
marry a wonderful woman with good mid
and act with kadusha and sneers with
your wife. Said many people did that and
they don't have a family who they're
embarrassed about what can it be said.
Then you have to dab them for children
as well. You have to dab them everything
behind it all. And that really I think
is the the message which we have in
that's the mascul mascul
realized of all the circumstances and
take it into the prophecy especially in
the times that we're going through now
person must have the ness the expertise
the skill of being able to dam properly
what's behind it all behind it all maybe
is the last person
at the end of the chapter says there All
is I'm not dabbing to you so that I can
sit in a deck chair and relax at the
end. No,
I want to be able to thank you and
praise you afterwards. When I have a
difficulty and I have a challenge, I'm
turning to you as my source of refuge
and at the end I will thank you for it
all. That's the point behind it all.
Isn't that really the status which we
learn so well? We understand it so well
when it comes to no turn around and say
what should we do when it's a day of
judgment. and see panos health
everything is open in front of us. What
is the best thing we can possibly do?
Best thing we can possibly do is to dav.
Why? Because davening has the ability to
be a pitchfork. It turns over a
situation. Remember the beautiful guma
in suka. The gumar explains as follows.
It's compared to a farmer goes down into
the field and he sees that the wheat on
top is dry and the wheat underneath is
wet. He takes a pitchfork and flips it
over. In Hebrew it's called an atar
a pitch. It turns over a situation.
Remember when was dabing for fork for a
child he appealed to he intreated
she couldn't have a child and then the
next person sayska became pregnant and
had a child. He intreat he dav is a
pitchfork. It turns over a situation
from one situation to another. And that
is the reason why we dab on because
no is greater than that is also a great
mitzvah but to has the ability to turn
over sit has the ability turn over
situation and that's the point which
we're bringing out here and therefore
the first point I'm suggesting
a person who is an enlightened person
realizes
between myself and the almighty I must
have the expertise and the ness the
skill of being able to dab them properly
that I think is the first theme.
The second theme which I'd like to bring
to you which I think is
what meant is something which we find
every single Shabbat before Yamip in the
Shabas between
the para is always parasu
remember in the middle of parasu which
is really the final warning which Mosha
gives to he tells them
be careful what I'm telling you is not
something empty be careful how you
behave and inside the sh is one of the
particular particular phrase which I'd
like to opin on. So
remember the days of the world and
understand what has happened in history.
One has to have a certain understanding
and clarity of what has happened in the
history of Kalisrael. And I would like
to suggest maybe that there's one
particular period in Kalisrael that we
learn so sharply and with almost a
tremendous rebuke what does it mean the
relationship
one particular period there's within a
few years of each other there was two
horrific indictments which were made
against Khan Israel within a few years
of each other let's take the first one
this week will be lagbo
when the
didn't die they stopped dying
24,000 Talmida
and they all died in the period between
they stopped dying when it came to
shalom
they never acted with respect from one
to another what does this mean here
since when is a person has a death
penalty because he doesn't act with we
know it's for idol worship or immorality
or or or murder since when is a person
liable for his life because he doesn't
act with I remember hearing from vula
the in the yeshiva he once explained the
reason why co is they were tid of the
great reba was the leaka
really was the key the pin in the
masurus in the tradition other words
from moa to yeshua yeshua to zakim
zakanim all the way down to rabaka and
then all the talian were then lost
they're lost completely there was No
more Tyra.
The world became desolate. That would be
the end of Tyra. The end of the
tradition in Israel. What happened?
Because they never acted with cover. The
meaning is as follows. There is one
clay. There is one tool in which you
hold all the powers and the the
importance of the spiritual matters and
that is
the main receptacle in which you hold
it's how do you measure this the value
of a dress how do you measure the value
of a car how much it's worth no money
materialism is measured by money
spiritual matters are measured by
something of co they never had the clay
mid they didn't have the tool in which
to hold all theness that they learned
they learned to but there was something
missing here there was no action of
that's an enormous indictment against
in Hebrew it's called there was
something wrong in their human
relationships between each other what
happened here they didn't act with
respect my question always is on that
gamo is where was the rebba where was aa
why didn't he pull them up I don't know
if that episode happened in one year. If
it happened in one year, there were over
700 funerals maybe in each day, which is
an incredible. Where was the Reba? Why
did Rebaka say anything to them? Where
was the Reba here? Why didn't he Why
didn't he pull them up? And you cannot
say that was a type of who came in the
gab and had no connection with them.
It's not true. We know he ate with them.
He slept with them. He talked with them
all the time. We know different m which
are bought down
brings down. When a person takes a
drink, a person shouldn't swill the
whole thing down. Why not? Because it's
a glutton who takes it like that. Where
do we learn it from? Maybe a ka ate with
a talum and he taught them how to eat
with etiquette. In other words, he was
he was close with them. What happened
here? Maybe you can say something like
this. This shalom
they didn't act with between one another
was something was hidden. It was
something deep down. They didn't
recognize the importance of another
person that the human being behind the
person. I think that maybe he wasn't to
know otherwise I I don't have an answer
for it. What happened here? A tragic a
tragic situation a horrific indictment
against Israel.
So we have to remember this is the
period which we have a period of
mourning m it will end now and this week
on Tuesday when it comes to but they all
died
brings out an horrific comment. He says
as well in reality first days y should
have been pes a last days y a shab the
seven weeks of between are supposed to
be like a like a y in between what
happened here because the
died we don't get married we don't shave
we don't listen to music it's a mini
morningour morning here the days got
changed because of the
how important it is that's the first
indictment that we see secondly
A few years later, we know the second
Bitus was destroyed for one simple
reason. Why? Because of sin. There was
mindless hatred between people.
Says the Gmor Intest
explains the first Bikdash was because
of a zora idol worship and immorality
and murder between each other. But in
the second BD, they all learned to and
there was and there was also everything
was right. They dam properly. But there
was sin. But how can that possibly be
says the from he asked a question in the
beginning the hakda of safe
says as follows how can we possibly be
it doesn't go together something was
crucially wrong here and therefore I'm
suggesting this second indictment really
is quite similar to that of the few
years later the the mikdash after the
time of the a few years later it
occurred same indictment which is such a
crucial point we have to pick up on
the brings down as follows. What does it
mean that there was a situation where
there was and they were going and then
says as follow these are the words
he cannot stomach such who learn to who
properly who are busy with
it can't be like that it can't be they
don't it's not a it doesn't go together
like that and that was the reason why
there was
and therefore If we're saying we're
coming to the time of
an enlightened person who's alert who's
alert to
the time of the period of the we're
still living under that under that
indictment the it's still pending
against us. No, there's still no BA
mikdash. We're still loving under the
living under the situation of of sin.
There's still no bases mikdash here.
It's a pending indictment against us
which is still there. Therefore, we have
to straighten this out. We have to be
alert to our relationship.
We brought recently in a previous Shia
some time ago the beautiful comment of
the
he asked them
go out and see
which is the right way a person should
behave. And each came one said, one
said,
one said be a good neighbor. And then
eventually
said a good heart. And the chorov had a
beautiful comment about that. The chov
said as follows. Zakai lived at the time
before the mikdash destruction of the
second basikd. He knew there would be a
long exile and he prepared them. So when
you go out into exile when you leave
this spiritual reservoir of the va
mikdash and you go out into exile
however long which quality do you need
most of all you need a le a good a good
heart how you relate to somebody else
that's the point behind it all if you
don't have that then you're missing the
the key behind it all and therefore one
has to be a masculine understanding I'm
suggesting
is the prayer
between man and his fellow man is the
urgency and the severity of knowing how
to relate to somebody else. I would like
to make a suggestion. What is really our
problem when it comes to something like
uh
and this mind? Why is there still
sinners in Lani? In my humble opinion, I
believe it's something because of this.
We live in a certain like sectarian type
of life. I am like this and somebody
else is different from me. We're not
able to recognize differences in a
community. But if you look at the
beginning of Khalis, there were always
12 tribes moving different from Shiman
who was different from Isra who was
different from God. Everybody was
different. We're not capable of
recognizing that the a person behind the
doctrine behind the meaning we we
are short in that basis. We're not able
to divide and it's almost something we
recognize
only of my type but someone else's type.
He's a safi, he's a kabad, he's a
breastla, he's aid, he's a litback,
whatever it is, what we're not able to
bridge that gap between the two. I'm
suggesting that's one of the basic
problems with let me share with you a
beautiful incident too which I remember
hearing about from the satarbi
the satarbi evidently as you know was
fire against zionism. He was fire. He
was livid. He He didn't have any
tolerance at all for Zionism, for the
Shitta. But it was well known. Everybody
knew, anybody who turned up to his house
for any sort of uh support, whether it's
emotional support, financial support,
spiritual support, he gave everybody the
same smile and the same care and the
same as attention. It made no difference
to him. A yudi was a yudi. His
principles, how he lives by, he couldn't
he had no for the The person that
sell the Yehoodi behind it all was the
crucial point by him. That was the
greatness of the satbi. You're right in
the in the policy he disagreed
with that. But the y is a person is a
person behind it all. That's the
quality. That's what we're missing in
our times. Beautiful story told about um
Babutna. In the times of Babutna, you
probably know the prime minister in
Israel was golder. Golden Maya had no
time at all for yeshiva's fora. She had
an aversion to anything to do with and
at all. And Raortner once turned around
and said as follows. If Mrs. Mayor would
walk into my room at the moment, I
wouldn't even stand up for her to show
respect for her public office. I don't
recognize it. She who she is a prime
minister, I don't recognize it. But if
she would turn around to me and say,
"Rabbi, I need a bit of help. I need a
loan or I need help with the shitter." I
will do my utmost to help that person as
much as I can. You hear the point?
There's a difference between the recogn
the policy the and who the person
the individual is the most important
thing. Isn't that really the crux of it
all? That's where we go wrong. The bay
is the yudi behind it all which we're
missing here.
Evidently they say that the kousenber
the great rebber
who suffered so much during the war in
the camps and he lost all his family. He
lost many of his talum. Later he came to
Natania and started Kirat Sands
tremendous organization of the
Clausenberger. He evidently said a
remarkable comment a startling comment.
He said I miss one positive feature of
the camps. What did he mean? He said as
follows. This is what I miss. We were
all standing there in front of the cruel
guards in in the camps there and these
cruel harsh evil people in front of us.
It made no difference if you were rich
or poor. It made no difference if you
came from a famous family or you were
nobody. It made no difference if you
were or a person at the beginning. You
didn't know much to at all. It made no
difference if you're a professional
doctor or a labor. Make no difference
who you are. All of us were unckempt
with a shaven head. All of us and
wearing the prison stripes. That's all
the these rags that they gave us. We
were all the same. I miss that quality
that everybody is the same. I think the
Clausenberger guided his life on one
eternal truth. The truth was the most
important identity of audi is his
holiness the that's the point to
recognize that I think that's what we're
missing here the recognition
that's the indictment of the verb and I
think also the as well it was missing
something was missing there and
therefore if we're going to follow the
advice and the beuga mench not just for
but as well to be alert and sensitive
masid
One has to stop and think to myself, how
can I possibly make my connection with
the Almighty in prayer? And I must think
about the words, say the words properly
with care and not make a sardine slot.
Make it make the most of my prayer. Use
the time in the best possible way and
become an expert in prayer. That's bin
between man and my fellow man. Look at
these two horrific indictments against
Khalisa.
24,000 talid. They all died. How can
that be? didn't act with respect to each
other and then a few years later
how can it be according to the can't
stomach with people who who learn who
are so acting but there's mindless
hatred between them it can't go it
doesn't work like that and therefore
that is the meaning I think of what
a mascul is like my Bobby said
the clo
and on top of it all if we can learn
that point I think then we can really
achieve something and be what's called a
masculine in these times I think of the
mash I'd like to share with you just an
incident my wife told me about it
recently she heard about a a girl in
seminary a beautiful story who left
eritz soil went back to work in I think
in flatbush in New York
she trained in a certain profession and
at the end of her training she found a
job And the job really wasn't anything
special for her. A very poor salary and
she really didn't feel accomplished by
the job that she had. She had worked.
She was an excellent girl in the
ceremony. She came back and and she
couldn't find much of a job and there
were no shid coming out poor. She was in
her 20ies. Nothing was happening for her
and it was very poor. And she had a job
which she had no real satisfaction from.
One day evidently she saw a notice in a
newspaper. It's a story which happened I
think just maybe a few months ago. She
saw a notice in a newspaper of a job
which she thought that would be perfect
for me. It's exactly the sort of job I'm
looking for. The pay was I think double
what she was receiving. She said if only
I could get this job. She called up and
asked for an interview. And she was so
excited. This is the job I really need.
This is the job. It will open me up give
me an opportunity. Maybe inim as well I
have an opportunity as well. Maybe I'll
have finances from it all. And she was
prepared to go to the the interview the
following day when they called up. The
night before the interview, a friend of
hers called up and told her she was
talking to Anmuzzing on the phone. She
said to her, you know, the friend said
to the seminary girl, you know, I saw a
notice in a newspaper about a job. I
wish I could get the job. She said, oh,
it happened to be the same opportunity
as the seminary girl had seen. And she
turned around and said to as follows,
you know, I really hope I get my job. My
husband is in learning. He's a coing
man. We have two children. We have no
money whatsoever. I really hope I get
the job. Well, she heard about it. She
didn't say anything that she was going
for the interview as well. The next day
she turned up in the morning. She went
through the interview and it was Alf
ace. She was perfect. She was fabulous.
She was sure she would get the job. We
went on very well and then she got on
very well with the interviewer. The
interview went perfectly well.
At the end of the interview, she then
turned around and said to the person who
was interviewer, the the personnel
officer, you know, I really hope I get
this job, but I must tell you something.
You have another girl, another woman
who's coming in this afternoon for the
job as well. I want to tell you, I would
love to have the job myself, but there's
only one position. I would like to ask
you, would you please give it to her
rather than me? She's a married woman
with a husband who sits and learns to
and they have two and they have no money
at all. It's better if you give it to
her than give it to me. That's what she
said. She walked out of the office and
she almost kicked herself. Why did I say
such a thing? I did the right thing. I
know I did the right thing, but why did
I say that? I'm losing my opportunity
myself. But she thought to herself, I
did the right thing. I was pleased with
it. And in the end, her friend got the
job and she was very successful in the
job. And meanwhile, she was left with
her old job with a with a poor pay. And
she carried on. She carried on. There
were no shid coming in. About a 3 weeks
to a month later, a call came in for
shid for her. It so happened to be
probably one of the best, whatever that
means, the best b, but a perfect baka
was learning in yeshiva, I think, in
Lakewood. And it was ideal for her. This
shid it was a wonderful family. Her
family was a they weren't anything
special. Her father was a balabos and a
wonderful family but nothing towards her
where this baka came from. And the shid
was suggested. She went out with the
baka and they went out a few times and
they liked each other very much and they
decided they'd get married. They decided
they'll make her ain. At the time of the
aisin the girl turned up at the aisin
and met the ba's mother and it happened
to be exactly the woman who was going
interviewing her. She said why this is
you? She said, "Yes, I'll tell you why.
I want to tell you my son had the best
possible opportunities.
But when you turned around to me and
said at the interview, give it the job
over to a friend, I said to myself, I
want you to be my daughter-in-law. I
would like you to be the mother of my
grandchildren." A such person with such
beautiful qualities and such mas, I
chose you and I want you to marry my
son. And it was a wonderful, wonderful
shid and they lived happily ever after.
Isn't that a beautiful story? Meaning a
person who gives up for somebody else to
stand aside stand aside for somebody
else. Isn't that really what it's all
about? To consider somebody else and
think of someone else's needs. Oh boy.
Sai I thought I'd leave you with such a
beautiful story and that the sugar went
ahead and they got married and
everything worked out well. You see what
I'm saying? To stand aside to think of
somebody else.
What a beautiful m it is. We should be
to become all of us.
We should grow and whatever these times
are
we should be saved
only a thinking person who's alert keep
quiet
as said maybe we'll be to see the
but like my Bobby said we have to be for
the two have to go together there has to
be which is a and say the two of them
together gracious.
I wish you all a good chabas for
