You have no idea how many families are
really struggling financially. It's
impossible to comprehend and understand
what a family goes through and how they
even function when they can't think to
themselves how they're going to provide
food for their family. There are
families in our community that live down
the block from you and me that can't
look forward to Friday night because
they don't know what they're going to
put on their table. It is unimaginable
in our eyes, but it really exists. We
know for a fact there are people in our
community that cannot put food on the
table for Shabbat. It's very very
painful when you get a phone call from
somebody who can't, you know, put
together a holiday the way uh it's
supposed to be done and they have to
answer questions to their kids.
>> We have an organization here in our
community called Shabbat on the Jersey
Shore. It's a special organization that
actually gives food to families
throughout the year helping many of our
families in our community to be able to
manage on the holidays and on Shabbat.
Every single family in our community
deserves to have the incredible gift
that is Shabbat. And to Shabbat will
ensure that every family in deal is able
to have the gift that all of us have.
And Friday night is coming and I'm going
to sit down with my family and have the
most magnificent meal and time of the
week. This amazing organization gives
people basic necessities, not luxuries,
but basic needs that they need weekday
Shabbat and just to live life with
dignity.
>> The beauty of giving food directly
instead of having to go shopping and
buying and seeing and what right there
it's in front of you. You get it. You're
ready for Shabbat.
>> As it stands today, there are over a
hundred families in our community that
have been benefiting from Tom Shabbat.
Shabbat gives a tremendous amount of
relief to these families who literally
cannot imagine what they're going to do
for the upcoming Shabbat. I personally
know many people that once they receive
the boxes of Shabbat, how relieved they
are, like such a huge stress is taken
off their heads. I've seen this again
and again and again. The smiles on their
faces when they get all this food, they
don't know what to do with themselves.
It's all done very, very quiet. No one's
embarrassed by it. It's done smartly
where they don't have to feel like
they're getting a hand out.
>> And that's also very important in
maintaining the pride and respect of
every single person who receives.
>> They care about us and they give us let
yourself meet meat and and anything that
we need in our community, they go out of
their way to help us.
>> It's very very integral for us to
support Shabbat because they are
supporting the Syrian community.
>> It's a tremendous tremendous
organization. The community needs to
rally behind it. Supporting a cause
that's helping our community members
where they really need food to eat for
the holidays and Shabbat is a tremendous
mitzvah. This organization needs money
from our community to keep it going.
>> Shabbat is the table of Hashem. When you
put the food on the table for his honor,
you elevate yourself. You elevate the
table. You elevate the whole Shabbat.
The greatest proof, the greatest
indication that you're doing it for
Hashem's honor is when you include the
poor, those who don't have
>> the obligation to be happy on the
holiday
is also part of making the people who
are poor to also enjoy the yumto.
Another amazing aspect of Tom Shabbat is
that when you give money to Tom Shabbat
to give food to your brothers and
sisters, you can be assured that 99% of
the money is going to literally giving
food to your brothers and sisters. I
have no sus effect that our community
will answer the call to help our own
brothers and sisters. It's not only
something that's a nice thing for us to
help our friends, help our neighbors,
help our families, to have food for the
holidays, to have food for Shabbat, and
food for regular daily life. It's our
obligation as members of the community
would be a very good
support.
>> Everybody should be giving money to Tom
Shabbat to help our own. Anybody that is
able to contribute to this Shabbat
organization, Hashem should bless you
always to continue to give to to
organizations like this
>> to support. This is a tremendous a
tremendous mitzvah of the highest order
without a question. This is a mitvah
that you can't beat.
