the place you have to put your finger on the place it's not a big source when it's a it's a tiny paragraph but it's chock full of very important ideas and we're going to start with verse two even though we're going to go back to verse one the clea car by the way that's the uh the perush that's the commentary we're using for this discussion he begins with verse two and i'll go back to verse one in a second and all these blessings will come upon you and cleave to you i don't really like that word if this is a translation if you obey the lord your god we'll leave it as cleave but you'll see in hebrew we're going to see the word means it's coming to you what does it mean it's coming to you these these these blessings this goodness is chasing after you it's coming to you all of these blessings now that's the word that we translated here as cleaving to you it really it's not a bad translation i would say they overtake you they overcome you they reach you but let's say they overtake you because remember they're coming to you they're actually chasing you can you imagine living a life where the broncos are chasing you and and you're you're proceeding forward and they're they're coming after you and they're reaching you kitish but one second there is a caveat there's a condition and that is that you listen to the voice of hashem your god okay that's the first verse we're going to deal with and let's go into the cleo car itself he says now we didn't even see that word yet somehow or another this concept that we will be the jewish people those people who listen even non-jews to a certain extent if they cling to the jewish people whether they're full converts or they are righteous no heights there's some level that will filter down to them as we'll see later on in verse 2 it's coming after you in verse 1 it's dependent on hashem hashem is the one is the actor in verse two it's the block itself that's acting i hope that's clear okay so as the cleo car now describes what we just read back in verse 1 where god says i am going to make you el yon that is hashem hashem is doing um but then as verse 2 says kolha brachas are going to come upon you so the word is somehow another the the brachas themselves are coming on their own on their own maybe hashem is the one who initiated it and as a result of being el young all those other brothers are going to chase after you keeping that in mind i believe what he now asks is what we call a rhetorical question it has to be how else you're going to read it um who's chasing after them or who's chasing after whom if the word being used is they overtake you they reach you the broncos are chasing after you it has to be like that and now he's going to explain why i'm sure everybody wants the brothers to chase after them i don't think anybody would say no right we want good things who doesn't want good things so listen to what he says and this is going to be a very important part of our discussion anyone who's chasing after now i'm going to translate as authority but it could mean greatness let's just use authority and everything that comes with it that authority or greatness is actually going to run away from you it's going to flee you're trying to trick to chase i don't know let's say you know fame covet and honor i don't know exactly what rahra is other than authority but again everything that comes with it it's going to run away from you it's repelled but someone who runs away from again authority and everything that comes with it whether it's honor and fame and maybe wealth see has it so if you're running away from it it will chase you now he's going to tell us right now these next four words which is hard to understand but we're going to try he says that the actual authority itself is the source for all the blessings now i want to translate to a certain extent the word authority as responsibility i would like to i'm not sure if you'll buy by that but with authority should come response i was told as a kid i had a very loving father who told me son i understand you want privileges you would love privilege who doesn't want privileges but son along with privileges comes responsibilities it just goes hand in hand it was a wake-up call you know as a young child to hear such a thing but it stuck with me so hasra whatever is royalty being supreme being not buy into the jewish mission here but the main point is they don't believe in in the in the torah being from god and therefore everything else falls by the wayside just as well they have a nice life in this world they will be blessed they will get a reward for doing the right thing and behaving but they will not see heaven there is no eternality there is no ulam i mean it's just a sad thing so they might as well learn some torah and try to figure out if it's really true or not and then you know what i mean you might as well your whole life in the world to come depends on it anyway keeping that in mind god will place you over them they on a certain level also and whatever they acquire on a certain level we acquire whatever we acquire ultimately is hashems but let's go on he says kizer this type of authority is not something that is so fitting for you even we're talking to the jews to seek out and to try to grasp we're talking about honor we're talking about wealth whatever it is obviously responsibility is something you have to take me come nevertheless god is the one giving it to you you are running away from authority in the sense of like i said honor and wealth nevertheless god is coming after you he's chasing he's giving it to you um and from that moment onward has so from that point onward that authority will be chasing you it will be chasing after you and if you want to use the original word cleaving to you overtaking you overcoming you now as a result of that agav has a result the authority itself is coming to you on its own remember we saw the difference between verse one and verse two it's coming on its own it's bringing along with it all those brachot all the goodness meaning as a consequence the authority will be chasing after you what happens as a result all of those blessings are chasing after you without you chasing them there's no need you're going to be overwhelmed with all those brachos hashem agave they're going to cleave to you or they're going to overcome you by way of this authority and now he ends with i told you it's going to be very short so he says basically you're acquiring this authority um you're acquiring all the brachas by way of the authority shall call goyaris that you are going to have over all the nations of the earth and he ends up with that statement i said before kima shikana edward conorabo now
