good morning as we begin the festival of lights i'd like to wish everybody a happy hanukkah to all of our scoop leaders yesterday or last evening it came about that the township committee is looking to consider privatizing the ems department what i'd like to bring forward to the scoop readers today is just a difference of what we believe is going on versus what was brought forward last night at the township committee last night it was discussed the ems department is losing upwards of about seven hundred thousand dollars we believe that that's incorrect we believe that yes the ems department has a little bit of loss of of income we are a fee for service department what we believe is not being told to to the residents of lakewood township is of that 700 000 and that is the cost to run the ems department and the employees benefits pension social security disability medicare medicaid all that's required to come out of the township's employees records they're using that as a spin or a wow factor to kind of rile up the concerns of some or some people that want to bring in a private service for ems we believe over the last couple of years that we've been very successful with bringing down our budget and increasing our revenue what i've asked last night at the township committee was to give me that opportunity over the next year to make those changes to understand what their concerns are we believe we can do that we're not looking to make it of this versus that we believe as lakewood township in the ems department we do a phenomenal job in serving all of the residents here in lakewood and we want to stay that way with that i'd like to thank the liquid scoop for their time and if there's any questions please feel free to stop by and say hi
