This Is How a Community Heals

Healing doesn't happen alone. It happens in living room, in classrooms, [music] in quiet late night phone calls. In the moment someone says, "You're not broken. You're human." >> On December 7th to 8th, the Amuin community will come together for 36 hours of music stories. >> You woke up in the hospital and the [music] first two things you want to know, what happened to the mission and what happened to the rest of your team? >> Correct. Why do [music] I need to be a free hostage for you to smile to me as a human being? >> In Hebrews, there is a very strong word, the IDF mean follow me. >> Responsibility. Exactly. >> The next thing I knew, I was detoxing on my rabbi's floor and not knowing what it even meant. >> In conversations that remind us how a people heals, not apart, but together. >> It feels like it's been a 2-year long saga. So much pain and so much loss. >> You're in so much pain, you can't see any truth. The antidote to hopelessness, I think, is action. >> The soul of the Jewish people, sacrifice and and spirit and togetherness [music] and giving and doing. And so much growth has come out of this. And I feel like the the needle has moved forward in Jewish history in an extraordinary way >> because when one heart heals, all of us rise. This is how a community heals.
